I messed up HUGE! Is there a way to fix it????

I don't think giving one person a few points does aything to the system. And I wouldn't necessarily expect them to do it for me just because they did it for someone else.
I don't expect to stay in the castle for a night just because they let someone else do it...
don't expect my daughter's school bus driver to stop on the road when I'm late just because he did it last week...
Why begrudge her a little good luck? That room was going to be empty whether they recovered her points or not...true - she should not have forgotten about her ressie, but I am quite sure she didn't do it on purpose. I would not forget something like that, but people are different and I know there are things I would neglect to do that others would not. So, look arond and make sure you're not standing in a glass house...

Yes, but if the room remains empty this weekend, AND she gets to use the points still, that means there are two rooms for however many days someone else couldn't book despite it only involving the points for one, and that is the part I see as potentially being unfair to the whole.

However, I know I also screw up from time and time and do see what you mean about glass houses & pointing fingers. Again, I don't begrudge the person for getting helped. It is just the extremely short notice and bypassing holding altogether that irks me. In other words, if the points were someone moved into holding status in the following Use Year that would seem to have been a more fair adjustment to members overall... That way a second room can't be tied up so far in advance and the rules are more closely adhered to.

We tried to change a reservation once, too, and got no such treatment. No amount of calling back and asking for supervisors helped. Our points went into holding and we couldn't use them at the main DVC resorts. Sorry, 9 years ago, I can't remember exact details. We had booked a cruise and changed to WDW. Not the same thing as OP, but absolutely no grace. We had to use our points on our first DVC trip at a moderate resort - which was very expensive points wise, needed 2 rooms for our family of 6.

Glad OP is happy wouldn't wish anyone less, but I gotta admit, kind of hard to hear from our perspective. We really wanted a villa on our first trip "home."
