I may have done something dumb. What would you do?

OK, I'll try to make it short! My DH, kids, and I are heading out to Colorado for Spring Break. We are leaving on a Saturday morning and live about 100 miles from the airport. I made us a reservation at a hotel on Priceline.com to stay over the night before we leave.

I have used Priceline MANY times, so I was comfortable with it. Well, this time seems like I got the short end of the stick. I got a hotel that I have NEVER heard of. I have read several reviews and it doesn't seem nice. AT ALL!!! Now, I am freaking out! I can't stand nasty hotels!

So, here's the deal: Would you just chalk it up to a mistake and lose the $50.00? Or would you take your chances and see if it is gross or not?

Thanks for input!!

Did you read Tripadvisor about it?

What is the name of the hotel - maybe someone on here has heard of it. For one night I could suck it up but I know that my mom could never do it...so you will have decide what you think

If you are going to be out the $50 anyway, I would go check out the room. I often find that people who have had bad experiences will embellish what is wrong. If its gross, leave and go elsewhere, if not, stay and you don't have to waste your money.

It's called the Park Inn North Houston. They mainly have hotels in Europe, I think.

Yes, I read trip advisor. That's what scared me! :scared1:

If you're going to be out the money either way I'd give it a shot. Park Inn is with Radisson and Country Inn and Suites. Apparently the Park Inn brand is popular in Canada and Europe. (I worked for their reservation center for a summer, where I learned that Park Inn is the fancy 5 star hotel brand place to be in Europe and Asia. No idea if its true, never been.)

I've had good experiences with Radissons and the Country Inns, so I'd give it a whirl. Good luck!

Thanks. I guess it's worth a try. The only thing, is if it's gross, we will already be there and have to pay "whatever" we can find. Gosh. I'm so MAD! I was trying to be good and save some $$!! Darn it!

You are SOO right about that! I read all the time here on the Boards about people griping about all sorts of hotels and restaurants at Disney - that I LIKED. I guess everyone has an opinion!

I love Country Inns and Suites! It's become one of my favorite places to stay. Radisson, to me, is so-so. I've never heard of Park Inn, though.

We booked a stay in San Pedro the night before a cruise (not on Priceline) which got fair to poor reviews. I was leary, and to tell the truth, I thought the hotel was even worse than the reviews indicated. But even so, it wasn't bad enough that I thought about refusing to stay there.

We also booked a hotel in New Orleans that got horrible reviews but we liked it so much we stayed there the next time we visited also.

I wouldn't worry too much. It's one night.

I just read the reviews on tripadvisor and out of 15 reviews there were 6 who rated the hotel excellent and only one who rated it terrible. 60% would recommend it. That's not too bad.

OK, maybe it won't be so bad. LOL I guess I'd just like to read GLOWING reviews on it. I guess one night won't kill me.

I looked it up to see if I would stay there.

Only one negative recommendation. One lady never got to her room because they took issue with her dog, and she left the premises, so she can't really tell us anything about the room. Seems to me the room would be comparable to a value resort at WDW...but much larger in size.

It doesn't seem to be a dive. I wouldn't fret about it. From the pictures, it looks clean, and there are people that had nice things to say about it.:thumbsup2

I also used Priceline and am having the same fears about a hotel in Orlando (International Palms). It's just for one night, so we're going to stick it out (unless we absolutely cannot stand it). I say, give it a try.

I suggest checking it out and then just go elsewhere if you can't stand it. If it seems clean enough and safe, you can probably stand it for one night.

The reviews sure are inconsistent. Maybe it depends on what room you get.

Just a question to those who do Priceline which I have never done but thought about doing...don't they only guarantee one bed? Thought you were guaranteed one bed but could request two but that doesn't have to be honored or am I mistaken. Do you have luck getting a room with two beds if you ask>

I've never had a problem getting two beds except in Boutique Hotels, which often only have rooms with one bed. Call them now, at their direct (not 800) number to make the request. Don't wait until you get there to ask.

Especiallly when you consider that trip advisor reviews, in my experience, tend to be quite negative. I got a priceline hotel near WDW several years ago and the TA reviews were horrid. I was totally scared as it was an impromptu trip with just me and DD and I was trying to keep it cheap. Turns out the hotel was delightful, the staff was great, the pool was clean...you get the idea.

I hope it turns out as well for you.:thumbsup2

They only guarantee room for 2. We are a family of 5, I no longer use PL for stays that involve us all as ONE time, I was not able to be accomodated. I ended up having to book a second room upon arrival. All the other times, and it was many, I have been able to get the 2 beds. I now use Hotwire as you can guarantee 2 beds.
