I made ressies - bow I'm panicing!

I made ressies this morning for a 9 night stay in Nov. for our family of 4 at the VWL. We wanted and got a 1 bedroom villa.

Now the part that makes me panic - the price. I couldn't even get a AAA discount, although I'll keep trying. The funny part is I knew how expensive this would be before I did it but now it looks like a ridiculous sum of money.

My plan is to book this and then hopefully get a code to reduce this rate. Now that I've done it I'm afraid that I won't get one and our alternative choice, the FW cabins will be booked if I wait through at least July for codes to appear.

I know the rent point option but our non negotiable dates (Nov. 14 thru Nov 23) include two fridays and saturdays so the amount of points I need at $10 a point is not enough of a savings to give up housekeeping and the cancellation option.

Sould I book the cabins - which we love but were hoping for more, or should I ride it out and prayers and pixie dust wiill bring me a code?

I wish I could book two resorts for the same time up until a few months out!

Please calm me down!

Well, unfortunately the villas are usually not included in the codes. So you may be stuck with that price. If that is truly something that you cannot afford, then I would change to the FW cabin.

But please, calm down. It's only money. ;)

As you get closer to November you may be able to get a AAA, DC discount or even a code.

Maybe when they see how many DVC members are or aren't going to stay there they will release some more rooms for cash ressies.

I was offered a AAA and DC discount on a 1br villa at OKW 2 days ago by CRO and it was around 20%. CRO also said that later in the summer AP rates would come out and maybe that would get me a better discount on the villas. I was just checking on a room for my MIL so I did not need that. The time period I was checking for was 10/23-11/1/03.

It never hurts to call back periodically.

The FW cabins may be booked if you wait until July for codes and then end up not being able to use on a villa.

Book where you really want to stay and hope for a code. If you can't use a code on a villa, have you thought about booking 2 rooms in the lodge-most likely if there are codes-you will be able to use them on the 2 rooms.

We were just able to use the recent code that came out for our Boardwalk Villa. It saved us about $100 of the normal rate.

There have been AP rates posted for VWL, but I have no idea how much availability there was. If you're staying 9 nights, an AP might be a good value for you. Sounds like there's reason for some hope, but you're being realistic. The time you're going hasn't been a traditionally busy time for DVC properties, so that's in your favor. If codes/AP rates come out for VWL, but there isn't availability, be sure to check to see if the discount rate is available for at least part of your stay. Sometimes it's only 1 or 2 nights that aren't available, and you can still take advantage of the discount. Also, consider a different DVC property, if you're looking for space and kitchen facilities. OKW is largest and tends to have the most availability.
Good luck! We're members at VWL and it's worth the effort to get a room there.

You could try renting points from a DVC member. If you decide to do so, be sure to have the DVC member check for availability before canceling your cash ressie. The "room inventory" for cash is separate from the "Points" inventory.

Disney has been including the Villas in the code discounts. I booked several clients with great discounts over the past few months at WVL .

There is hope, but.. if the rate is way too high for you to afford without a discount, I'd downsize, and pray that the discount will come available, and that you will be able to get the Villa booked.

What about a standard room at the WL, or CR WIng in the meantime...?

Thanks everyone! I can pay the tab I'm just not sure I want to at regular rate. If I had gotten at least a AAA discount this would bring it into the range where I can justify the price with the extra's we get.

Am I better off calling back periodically, referencing my ressie and asking if a AAA discount has become available or am I more likely to get one if I don't already have a reservation? Of course I'll still keep my eye open for codes or AP rates.
