I made it to the hotseat!!

Set the scene: Michael, Corey and I arrive at WWTBAM for the first show of the day about 15 minutes before it begins. We sit anxiously in our seats and wait for the show to begin.....

Fastest finger question...put these president in the order in which they served beginning with the earliest...John Adams, John McKinley, John Quincy Adams and whoever...can't remember now...

Announcing the top ten...number one is seat 41....yikes!!! that's me!!!!! I made it down the stairs without falling, sat in the hotseat and started answering questions....

Well, the long and short of it is that I lost on the 500,000 point question!! I was so close to winning the cruise I could smell the salt air!! Now I can't wait to go back and try again!!!

The question was:

"which actress starred in the MGM "Maisie" movies?

Lana Turner, Betty Hutton, Ann Southern or someone else who I can't remember.

When I saw the name Maisie, my first thought was "Horton Hatches the Egg" because the bird who laid the egg was named Maisie. Then I realized that I had never heard of the "Maisie" movies , so I used my last lifeline and phoned a complete stranger with the hope that it would be a senior citizen who would know the answer. When I heard her young voice, I knew that she would not know the answer. So, I could have walked and received the pins up to 250,000, but I decided to go for the cruise. I guessed Betty Hutton, but alas ....the answer was Ann Southern.

I need an airplane ticket and a hotel room so I can go back and play again on March 1!!!!

Last April when we were in WDW I got into the hot seat from the fastest finger question ("put these U2 albums in the order that they were released....") and bombed the 64,000 point question (didn't phone a stranger, thinking no one out there would know).

Three days later my husband gets into the hot seat (having the most points after someone else bombed out), and he too bombed the 64,000 point question (and didn't phone a stranger). His true goal was to "do as well as or better than" his wife in the hot seat!!

We periodically play at DCA but haven't gotten into the hot seat since WDW in April 2002.

You are much braver than I. I got to the hot seat last April, got through 250,000, but had no clue at 500K and no life lines left, so I walked away. It's a nice set of 13 pins, but if I ever get back, I'm going for it!
