:smooth: Wow, I can't tell you all how surreal it felt to see my seat number up on the big screen & to have those lights in my eyes! I wasn't really nervous, just excited. I did very well until the 16,000 question. I really made a strategy mistake. It was a question that totally stumped me, "What is Dr. Phil's (from the Oprah show) last name?" I used the 50/50 when I really should have polled the audience. Then foolishly, I guessed on a gut instinct. WRONG!:( (Oh well, I always hated Dr. Phil, now I have a really good reason to!) That mistake knocked me back down to 1,000. I got a cap & 5 pins.
By the way, his last name is McGraw. :p

Congratulations! Are you going to try again? Last week during the show I attended, both hot seat people were from the same row and that row was mine! But I wasn't one of them. :(

The guy who did really well had been to 3 or 4 different shows in one day.

Oh, I don't like Dr. P. either!

I'm sure you were very excited to make it to the big seat! Congratulations! I have a question...I've never been to this event....are the questions mainly miscellaneous or is there a great deal of "Disney" questions? Just curious. By the way...it would be neat if those who did make it to the end could share the questions that caused their downfall. We all learn!

Great going, glad to hear you made it to the HOTSEAT. We just came back Sat. from our annual 2 week stay and played millionaire many times and I finally made it to no. 3 on the boards. We do this lots of times on every visit, in fact we did the show 3 times in a row last Friday. I think the hosts they have are very good also.

That is cool you made it in -- my husband and I played Millionaire 3 times on Friday.

On the first game he was #2 so he was disappointed so we had to go back.

On the second game I was #3 so again, more disappointment and back we go.

On the third game, after the 32K question (which the guy got right) my husband was #1 and I was #2 -- we were so excited - we just needed to get the next one right and have the guy get it wrong and we thought maybe one of us would make it to the Hot Seat.

Of course, the guy in the Hot seat did get it wrong - but then again - so did both of us. It was a question about what the Term Extension Act introducted into the Senante by Sonny Bono covered ---- we both got it wrong - the answer was Copyright laws.

Anyway - that was our big chance to make it into the hot seat and we both blew it -- it took all day to get over it (and we still aren't really over it!!!)

Congrats to you --- just gettting in is a big victory!!

Thanks all, for your thoughts.:) I am at WDW every month or so, so I know I'll try again. The waver I signed when they took me into an office stated that I couldn't win anything again for 30 days, I don't work for Disney, they don't owe me compensation for a "performance", yadda, yadda, yadda.

Hi c4241, The questions were very much general knowledge, they did throw in one Disney question though,"What relation were Drucilla & Prunella(?) to Cinderella?" The answer of course is, her stepsisters.

Later yesterday afternoon, a couple stopped me and said, "Hey, weren't you in the Hot Seat earlier?" It was fun to say, "Yes, as a matter of fact I was!" ;)

Congratulations!

I made it to the Hot Seat last fall, and as a result, I'm a changed man. I always yelled at people on TV on Millionaire and Wheel of Fortune who seem to give dumb answers to the easiest of questions. And I scoffed at people who said that it's different when you're up there. I'm here to tell you, it really is!! As soon as I was called up there, I turned into Ralph Kramden on the Honeymooners when he was filling the commercial as the Chef of the Future! I mumbled, stammered, and barely remembered the name of my wife of 14 years. I somehow managed to get to the 16K, and blew it on a sports question (not my best subject!).

Congrats once more, hope you get back there again.

as you can see from my signature...I just LOVE playing WWTBAM..a couple of weeks ago in CA I missed the 64K question. I used the 50:50 but I STILL missed it. "By definition, the following means propaganda to incite" the answer-"agitprop" looked too hokey to be real, but it was real all right...oh well

Another time I took a stab (no lifelines left) on the 500K question...which designer assisted with costumes from "102 Dalmatians"?
a. Valentino
b. Isaac Mizrahi
c. Stella McCartney
d. Betsy Johnson

I guessed Stella, but it was Betsy! Oh well!

Congratulations!!!

I always leave the room when DW is watching Dr. Phil on Oprah, so I sympathize completely. It doesn't help at Millionaire if you have a good taste in your consumption of popular culture..

"Those who think they know everything are very annoying to those of us who actually do."

When I was there last year I was in first place the whole time after the second person was chosen. I kept hoping he would finally miss a question. After he hemmed and hawwed his way to 16K (it seem like forever) he finally missed.:p Then they showed the person in first place and it still was me. The problem was, they were out of time so I didn't get to go up. My wife kept bugging me to go back to the show again but I said we had so much more to do. I'll be back this October ready to get in the hot seat.

Isn't that one of the coolest things to do in WDW? I was in the hot seat last January, I was number 2 the whole time until they asked for the Roman equivalent of Hera (Juno) and I rocketed into number 1!!! I got to the $125,000 question (What italian city is also known as La Serenissima? Naples, Rome, Venice or Florence) and didn't know, so I phoned a complete stranger! unfortunately, he told me the worng answer and I believed him :(
but I got the hat shirt and a bunch of pins. I was all by myself too, so I didn't have anyone to sheer for me though:(

I'm going to try again in a couple of weeks!! can't wait!!!

BTW: the answer is Vencie (which is ironic since that's the only Italian city I've ever been too!)

2boys~ You have to be the fastest finger reply to the question they ask at the start of the show.

I was in the hot seat in May of 2002. I bombed on a question at only $8000 (boy, was I embarrased! lol! I stepped down, so as not to lose all my points!). I was asked what the correct term was for an inside arena for cycling! UGH!

It is very frightful to be up there infront of allllllll those peoples!

CONGRATS ELJAY!

Thanks,

Actually, I messed up on the first opportunity, which was the fastest fingers to put 4 things in order. When that person was eliminated, my seat number came up as the fastest response with all correct. If you are trying to get into the hot seat, remember you have to be lightning fast on that button to answer the questions. If you get one wrong, you're chances are over for that round.

Its fun isn't it? DH got up to 125K when we were there. I was at the top of the leasder board twice and time ran out.

I'm suprised that you didn't use a lifeline on that question. Thats a perfect as the audience q?

It certainly is a perfect "poll the audience" question, my nerves made me forget that & I chose the "50/50" instead.
Next time ;) I'll be ready!

We were in the audience for your show!!!! If I remember right, you said you were a local, visiting by yourself? We were # 2 and 3 when your session ended, and dh was in the hotseat later that day!

What a coincidence--I can't believe we actually sawa another dis member there!!

Sounds like a fun attraction. The last time we were at Disney, this attraction wasnt open.
I was originally thinking we may skip it-but from the posts it sounds like fun. Is it a long wait to get into?!?!

29 days and counting..........
