DS had his 10th birthday party today and he wanted a Lego party. All of his friends are sharp & imaginative so I wanted something that they could use their talents to do.

I used some disposable cups and put about 20-30 Legos in each one. I indiscriminately scooped up handfuls of Legos from DS's Lego bin, not trying to sort out shapes, colors, or sizes. I then made a list of objects to make and each person received a cup of Legos and piece of paper with their "thing" to make. I had things like robot, car, flower, spaceship, toothbrush, etc.... They had about 10 minutes to make thier object then we guessed what each one was. Clues could also be given, as needed.

They loved it! Fifteen 9 & 10 yr old boys were quiet and intent on building their Lego. It was great! LIttle time to put together and very high on the approval meter. Quite some interesting creations, too!

That sounds like such a great idea. I'm going to have to pass it along to my sister for her son's parties.

LOL - I bought a Lego Creator game on sale at Target the other day. I would have never thought of it but my 8yo DD was with me and asked for it. Her and the neighbor kids have it out and really seem to like it. Same idea as yours but there are cards and certain pieces that they have to have. Your's is cheaper and requires more invention on their part ;) She'd love it :)

Very creative idea. Imagine a group of boys or girls quiet for 10 minutes!

What a neat party idea!! I'll have to store this idea in the 'party section' of my brain!!:p Thanks for sharing!!!

What a great idea for a party! Or even an activity when someone stops at Legoland in Downtown Disney with the kiddies. I'm writing that down on my itinerary - thanks! :)

What a cool idea!!!

Where were you three years ago in my life?:p :p

It's also makes a good reason to clean out the Lego bin (or find pick up those Legos all over the place.....).
