but PLEASE share with me which digital camera to buy...we want to buy one before our trip (in 2 weeks!!!) dh doesn't want to spend much $ 'cause of paying for the trip (he wants $200 price range). BUT I"M SO CONFUSED!!! Are there really any to stay away from??? It seems that all the major manufacturers make one in the price range & I SO CAN"T DECIDE!!! HAd the $$$ last night & went to 2 stores & STILL couldn't come home with one! :confused3

I have a Kodak but don't recommend it. When you use the zoom the pictures are blurry no matter how stead you are holding it. I have to use it without the zoom. Got it as a present at least so I didn't waste my own money. This is also from 3 years ago so maybe it's improved, but next camera I buy won't be a Kodak. I want to get one before my trip as well but doesn't look like we will have the money to do so.

I love the Canon digital elphs. I started years ago with the S100 and now own the S400. My son owns the S410 and we have been very pleased with the quality of pictures. It's easy to operate and small enough to fit into your pocket. Amazon has great deals on the digital elphs right now. good luck with your decision.

I now have a professional camera but my wife uses my old one and it's amazing.

It's a Fujifilm digital and only 2 megapixel. It takes amazing pics though. I would definately suggest fujifilm cameras for quality.

I now use a nice Konica Minolta camera.

We've had ours for about six months now, so I'm sure there are new and better ones out there, but:

We are very happy with our Nikon CoolPix 3700. It is small and tough and takes good pictures. Make sure you get a camera with a metal case. Some other cameras have an outer shell that looks like metal but it is really made of plastic. We have dropped ours (metal case) many times and it is still in great shape. I don't even bother carrying it in a special camera pouch. It just goes in my pocket or in the backpack.

It also has many options, but I mostly use it to point and shoot. It comes with a special rechargeable battery and charger, so you never have to worry about buying new batteries. It comes with a wimpy sized memory card, but they all do. I've bought a 512 MB compact flash card and now I can store over 600 pictures and also take movie clips. That is just about right for a trip to Disney!

Oh yeah, the list price of this camera is over your listed price range, but when we bought ours they had a major rebate offer going. Shop around on line and get the best price.

What MexaPixel does everyone get? I was thinking 4 and above.
I'm seriously considering Fuji FinePix E500 or Fuji FinePix E510 (different of 4.1 or 5.0 MP , basically same otherwise). They are both right around $200. The Canons cost more money for similar specs... Is a Canon more money for quality :confused3

Do the Fuji record video with sound or without? I'm not really buying the camera for the video obviously but figured it might be a nice plus to have it :)

I have a 5 MP kodak easy share and would reccomend wholeheartedly - it is SO easy to use and transfer photos!! It takes video with sound - we love it!! I got it for around $200

Love my Koday easyshare also, except for that nasty non-functioning zoom!! But, because of these boards and the wonderful people here, I did learn about editing my photos on my computer and then making the prints. I have some really wonderful shots now. But, still a digital novice.
