I love this part of the Dis

Everyone here is so amazingly awesome. I just wanted to tell you guys and gals how much I love this part of the Dis!!!! There's a discussion on the Budget Board, I posted something that was supposed to be "lighthearted" and help the OP put things into a good perspective and man, people are jumping on me....it's ridiculous. That doesn't happen here much, even when you have a disagreement it's still done civilly over here. I just love you guys!

I am so rarely over in the other sections of the DIS, but I think someone else mentioned once that "they can get mean" over in other DIS areas, and that the people here in this part are exceptionally nice in comparison. I wonder why that is - not why everyone here is cool, but why folks on other sections of DIS are crabby and mean? Oh well, remind me not to stray too far from the Disneyland portion of things!! I will stay in the safe zone. That's not cool to have people jumping all over you, even if they are strangers. I am sure you were not saying anything offensive at all, and if you've taken the time to be lighthearted and tactful, then so should they! I am sure it wasn't even a topic that was worth jumping on anyone for.

Boo, Budget Board people! Booo!!! We are all a much happier group over here!

It is true! The DL board is very friendly and helpful. I am often eleswhere on the DIS. I have only ventured to the DLR forum recently while planning our DL trip. I find you to be a helpful and friendly bunch. Thanks for making it a great place to ask questions and get help!

Honestly I think a big part of it, is that this side of the board is smaller and attracts more regulars, so we have a tighter group. I think that fact that we know so many people's names (sometimes even real names) it makes it harder to be mean, since it makes it more like a real person, than typing on a moniter.

True! I think that all that bus hopping and waiting to bus-hop and dealing with other modes of transportation around WDW in the humidity would bring out my worst side. Yep, this a smaller, more tightly knit group over here and we all know who the regulars are and welcome all the newcomers with open arms - even the crabby and mean ones!

I haven't been to many other parts of the Dis but for a message board in general, the DL board is friendlier than most. That's why I get disappointed when someone does say something rude. DH looks at some gaming message boards and from what he's told me there are a lot of rude people making fun of others or constantly correcting minor spelling errors, calling people stupid, etc. Thanks everyone for making this a pleasant place!

I had also been wondering what happened to Jade (and Captain Bane). Since they returned from their last DLR trip, they kind of disappeared! I know they were supposed to have a holiday trip to WDW later this year, so maybe they have abandoned us and defected to the WDW camp to start preparing and getting info (which would be a good thing to do)??

I too don't go around too much outside the DLR board but I did notice people can get testy. I was in the LGMH thread in the WDW board and noticed that they were fighting over how many paint chips you should take.

I had been wondering the same thing as well. Jade was a regular when I first started posting in this section. I wonder if things just got busy - or maybe they are planning their trip to WDW.

I totally agree with you! People on here have always been so nice to me when I needed help with anything. Never rude. Sometimes when I go to other parts of the dis boards and read the postings, they seem so harsh.

(What was it that Hillary Clinton said at one of the Democratic debates last year? Something about wearing her asbestos pantsuit? I'd say, put on the suit of armor and venture into the enemy camp!! )

No, seriously, I am just kidding. I would be doing the same thing if I had a WDW plan in the works. I would go over to the 'other side' and try to find the nicest and most informed people I could and cling to them for dear life. You are right - it does seem like a different country at WDW. It is a different world. As often as I have been to DLR in my life, I am sure I would get down to WDW and feel like I may as well be in France or something. As much planning that needs to be done for a DLR trip, it seems SOOOOOO daunting to me to try to coordinate a WDW trip because there are so many more things to consider. A holiday trip to WDW would be so great, but probably massively stressful to organize beforehand! Not that I wouldn't rise to the occasion and start planning if I ever won a trip there, but it would be mind-boggling!

I think they are likely planning their WDW trip. I know Jade was planning on going in May for her bday. I hope like crazy that they make it over there and I hope that the people on the WDW boards aren't picking on her spelling. I don't know about Vegas Mike...hmmmmm

I know, I tend to avoid the community board, not only are they mean over there the threads move sooooooooooo fast that I simply can't keep up with them!

I agree that this section is the best! The compassion board is good, too. I thought Jade posted on a couple threads a month or two ago. Also, pixie, I thought Jade's b-day was going to be during her holiday (early Dec) trip. I thought she was only planning one trip.
