I got tagged a while ago (I even remember what it said!), and I didn't notice it until I went in to change my avatar picture....and then I ended up accidentally deleting my tag!! I didn't mean to! I just wasn't expecting to see it there and I was fiddling with the darn picture and POOF! That tag disappeared!

I know. It's so sad. I had no clue it was there - I don't usually pay attention to the avatar area where tags would be UNLESS I want to change the picture, which is rarely. So when I saw the tag and realized I had not put it there, I think I clicked on the wrong option where I thought I was changing something else (not the tag) in the avatar or adding something IN to the tag area, and it deleted the Tag Fairy's handiwork!! Oh well, hopefully, they will come and find me again one of these days. I have a lot of posts to choose from!!

Sherry, I did the SAME thing and then I posted a thread to the Tag Fairy, it said "TAG FAIRY HELP!" and I explained what I did (same thing YOU did! LOL) and she/he fixed it for me! And made it scrolly too! I hope you get your tag fixed!

Oh really? I didn't know we could shout out for help from the Tag Fairy!!! When he/she fixed it, did you get the same Tag as the one you had which you deleted accidentally, or a different, all new one? Well, I don't feel too bad now that I know someone else did the same thing! I was thinking, "How in the h*** did I do that? I was only trying to add or change something in that area." But somehow I did it. Thank you, Kerri, for sharing that so now I don't feel like a dumb ***!!!!!

Congrats to you Prettyprincess! Tags are awesome. I had two, lost them like Sherry did (toggling my avetar) and finally got one new one last year. As you can see, I've been around for over eight years and only have one! Aye aye aye! They are very special, indeed.

Oh, you just don't know how much better I feel now that I know there are a least 3 of us who deleted our tags by mistake, Lulubelle!! I was thinking I would have to go to the corner and wear the dunce cap, but I see it can happen to any of us!!

You see over on the left-hand avatar side of my post, where it says Sherry E, then says 'Willing Victim of the Snowball Effect' and then has a picture and when I first joined DIS and all that? Well, IF I hadn't deleted my tag accidentally, it would be right underneath Sherry E, where the "Willing victim..." statement is. It is usually a cute, silly, funny phrase from, perhaps, a Trip Report or a post that someone behind the scenes copies and randomly puts in the avatar area. Then they colorize it and sometime will make it scroll, like Pixiewings71's does! Bumbershoot (Molly) has a really funny one, for example, if you can find her on DIS. So whomever it is that chooses the phrases and places them in our avatars is called the Tag Fairy. We never know what the selected phrase will be, when it is coming and when we will get one, and some of us (like ME) don't notice that we have them and accidentally erase them!!! So now that you know what they are, you know to look at everyone's tags. If you see them scrolling or colorized, you know they have been tagged by the Tag Fairy. My Snowball statement is not an official Tag! But you can edit your avatar (in the User CP section) and add in your own, if you want, but it won't be from the Tag Fairy!!

You're welcome! Now make sure to check out all the colorized, scrolling tags in people's posts from now on, and you will be able to tell who has been 'officially' tagged and who has not. And look for Bumbershoot's tags, because they are quite amusing!

ETA: If I am not mistaken, and maybe someone can confirm or deny this, I think sometimes people can get tagged by the Tag Fairy with a regular old black letter tag. It is just easier to spot which ones were from the TF if they are scrolling or colorized!!
