I Love SSR; I wish DVC did too.

We didn't have any problems on our last visit to SSR, but as pp mentioned, when we are missing anything I call housekeeping and the item is brought up usually within the hour.

When I arrive, and I know I'll be cooking, I check for all needed supplies and call if they are missing, so they'll be there when I'm ready to use them.

OP that is quite the laundry list of issues.:sad2: I've been around the DVC block long enough to not expect perfection, but what you report is not acceptable by any standards, let alone Disney's.

Would think 'Mousekeeping' would follow standard procedures wherein a manager signs off on the rooms before they are released to next guest:confused3. Somebody has dropped the ball here, guests are there to relax, not take inventory of room contents or readiness.

Everybody has their favorite resorts. SSR has never struck my fancy to entice me to book there at 7 month window. It was only resort available after 7 month mark for upcoming trip in November but certainly not encouraging news to hear.

We are now in the midst of buying into SSR DVC. I rented here previously. The only issue I found was a broken hairdryer left out. Knowing I had rented, and not wanting to just leave the item, I called the front desk. I stated that I was renting, and had discovered the broken item and did not want anyone to think I neglected to report it. Within 20 minutes someone came to retrieve the item, and ask if anything else was wrong/amiss/or in need of repair in the unit. I said no, I had no trouble. I took the time to report it, and if needed would have gone up the chain.
When a light switch malfunction came to our attention in a suite in Vdara in Las Vega$, we called maintenance. We were thanked for letting them know, and someone came right up and spend an hour repairing some electric work.
I guess what I am saying is if folks do NOT report stuff and then if necessary go up the chain, nothing gets done it fix the problem. Housekeeping does not see or report every little item. I do think a monthly go thru the unit and make a list would be great. That would most likely be a maintenance task. I would not have a problem if part of my costs went to that.

I think there are rooms that get issues or seem run down in all the resorts, that's just the nature of the business. And it is easy for them to dismiss one complaint as someone being picky, but if they get a series of complaints about the same room from different guests, they're likely to send someone to take a look.

I'd like to clarify AGAIN that I DID report the problems in a detailed letter sent to the manager and to DVC the very next day. I feel kind of frustrated that everybody keeps saying "why didn't you report it?" I DID report it. Thanks.

Reporting things to DVC after, or even before, your stay will do nothing. Tbh, the people at the DVC call centers know pretty much nothing about the actual resorts themselves. I believe most of them have never even step foot in one from the stuff I've heard them tell people. Resort management is who you have to talk to, and I would do it before you leave. Letters like that usually get passed on to guest communications.

The last time we stayed at SSR the shower wouldn't turn off. I mean, really, full on water and no way to turn the handle. My DH is strong and couldn't budge it. We called down and explained that it was full on and we were heading to a park.
While we were out they changed out the entire shower valve. That was our only time at SSR. I did notice the grounds were impecable and the quick serverice food seemed better than the moderates we have stayed in. So in the end I was happy with SSR. We just put an offer in for BWV and are waiting for ROFR. Hopefully we will get to stay at SSR again soon.

We stayed at SSR just before New Year's and it is really the only time out of many that we have stayed there that we have had any issues. The dryer would not work. I called maintenance directly (front desk is useless) and someone was at our door in about 30 mins. They had to take the whole thing apart to work on it, but they got it going again.

So sorry to hear about this. What a bummer. We also own at Saratoga Springs and think that DVC could make it an even better resort if it just showed it some love. Owners need to hold DVC accountable...

Disappointing to hear, SSR is on the top of my short list to stay at. Hopefully your experience isn't the new norm.

Yowser! That list is awful. Thanks for sending the letter asking for corrections. I have stayed at SSR many times and never had a problem, but I know these things happen from reading these boards. I think they should have comped you the room for part of your time, at least. I am surprised they didn't do that. :confused3

We are arriving to Saratoga Springs Wednesday. I hope it will be better than what the OP said.

OP - Did you call the front desk to complain? I find that unacceptable.
