I Love Online Booking!!! Great Early December Luck

I decided last month to try and visit WDW for a few days in early December - my daughter is a college student in Florida and I thought it would be fun to meet her at WDW and celebrate with MVMCP and a nice night or two at a DVC resort.

Then I decided I might as well book several days and enjoy some time to myself in sunny Florida instead of being cold at home

I was able to book three nights at Saratoga Springs in a studio and two nights at Wilderness Lodge in a 1 BR. I wait listed the SS reservation but didn't have much hope of getting anything else, since DVC is so popular in early December.

Today I happened to check online booking and saw a 1 BR at the Beach Club for one of my nights. By the time I called Member Services and had my SS reservation rebooked to drop the night in question, the Beach Club villa was gone - but I was then able to get a new reservation for the first two SS nights in a 1BR at Animal Kingdom Lodge Kidani Village.

I just checked again late this afternoon and now a 1BR has opened up for my "missing" night at Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo House. I had to buy six extra points to get the reservation but Member Services was very helpful!!

So I'll be staying five nights and moving three times, but I'll be in a 1 BR villa (love the space and that tub!!) and I'll be at three beautiful resorts instead of Saratoga Springs which is my least favorite by far, especially during a holiday season.

I love that I can do this online now - I also made my dining reservations and got three nice meals at decent times in restaurants I like (although all of my first choices were gone, which I expected.)

So excited to get to visit WDW at Christmas!!!

For this December - two weeks from yesterday, in fact! I decided to go to WDW in October sometime, but getting DVC villas in the first part of December is difficult because the point values are low and the Christmas decorations are up, making it a very popular time for DVC Members to visit.

I was able to get a 3 night reservation at Saratoga Springs and a two night reservation at Wilderness Lodge, then switched the Saratoga Springs reservation to the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Yes, I will have to move resorts three times in five days!!! It doesn't matter, though - it's a solo trip and I am a light packer. Also I'll have a car - I'll pack up in the morning, check out, drive to the new resort and check in, then keep my bag in my car until I return to the resort at night. I've done it before and it's simple for me.

Also, a small update - ugh. A 1BR villa at the Beach Club popped up again this morning but when I tried to book it Member Services told me that point purchases were a one time only deal and I bought some extra points yesterday for the 1BR villa at Jambo House. Rats - I would have liked to stay at the Beach Club but no worries, I'll do it another trip. 35 more years of DVC membership for me!!!!

I'm not the OP, but for DVC, booking is 11 months out. This is for next month, which is a difficult reservation to get especially since it's one of the busiest DVC times of year.

To the OP, have a great time! I'm hoping to do something similar in early January, which is the latest that my DVC purchase should go through.

Yes, and it's so frustrating. I wonder why they made that rule. I was ready and willing to give them more money, the villa I wanted to book was available, and I had only purchased 6 points the day before. Maddening.
