She is SOOO calm, yet has total control of the classroom, the kids are well behaved and learning so much this year.

When I met Mrs. S and saw her interacting with the kids, I knew it was going to be a great year!

Life is good when things are going well in school!::yes:: :bounce:

Isn't it great to have wonderful teachers.

I feel the same way about my DS and DD's teachers (they are together in a double classroom of 1st/2nd with 2 teachers). They are in complete control and yet I have never seen, and cannot picture them being anything less than loving toward the kids. They're never negative or harsh. My kids love them..and school. I'm so thankful.

Enjoy what's likely to be a fantastic year!!

I feel the same way about my DD's teacher and my DD loves her too. She is great and it really makes a world of difference.
I volunteer every Friday and I hear the other teacher yelling at her kids all the time. Makes me crazy.

I love those years.

I don't love either of my kid's teachers this year. Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike them, I'm just not blown away as I have been in year's past. Particularly with my older son's teacher, who doesn't seem to have the required patience it takes to deal with a bunch of 9 year olds.

However, those special teachers that you get lucky enough to have teach your kids over the years, they make the "blah" years tolerable.

Hope you and your DD continue to have a great year Rita. :)

My DD's teacher is fine, but drives me nuts because she is condescending to me!! All the parents. She really has the "You aren't raising your kids so I will" mentality. I just posted on another thread about problems with finances and my DH on a trip, we struggle like that all the time so we can be there for our kids so it irks me that she acts that way. She is good to my DD so I will put up with it.

I am glad you like yours!

That's so true!

My DD8's teacher at her Spanish Immersion school is a once in a life time teacher. She emails us to let us know what they are doing in class. She lets the students stay for a 1 1/2 hours every Thursday to read just in Spanish. Then they can take AR tests on these books. It has really helped my daughter's fluency in Spanish. She is such a special teacher. I know how blessed we are this year.

My DS10's teacher is good but a bit on the ditzy side. I told her he was having difficulties learning his spelling words and multiplication tables (severe LD). She had the nerve to ask me if he was studying. Yes, we study 10 times harder and longer that any student you've ever had! Didn't say that but I wanted to so badly. I looked at her like she was insane. Sadly, she just doesn't have a place in her heart for students that are struggling. If you're an AG student then she loves you. Sorry to ramble.

I love my DD's teachers also. We had our first parent teachers conference yesterday. It went great! They are SO in control of the classroom. And they are very aware of each child and their strengths, weknesses, and the fact that there is almost a year age difference between some of them (DD is the youngest.) (They had us fill out a form with some questions about our child, then we discussed them.)

It's makes me feel great, as a parent, to have such wonderful teachers for my child. :)

I have already told my daughter that she will not miss one day of school this year unless she is truly ill. This is the best teacher she will ever have in her entire educational career and I don't want her to miss one second of it. Her teacher loves children and encourages their spiritual growth as well as their educational growth. I feel like I am getting the best parts of Catholic school for free.

Now if I could only get her in a Spanish Immersion class like pirateofthecarolinas daughter, I would feel like I had everything. My daughter is in third grade and her school has not yet even introduced the students to a foreign language. I hate that they are missing out on the best years for quickly acquiring a foreign language.
