Just got back from our weeklong trip. Yes, we had rain and fog for 3 days, but still had fun. The next 3 days were GORGEOUS. Acadia is AMAZING. Loved Boothbay and Bar Harbor and Camden too. People were so friendly and Winnie our bulldog was welcome so many places.

I wish I could agree with you! I lived in Caribou for one year and it was pure H-E-DOUBLE HOCKEY STICKS!!!

My great uncle did live in Kittery and we always enjoyed going there. Gotta love them lobster rolls.

We stayed in Camden a LONG time ago, in the Fall, and we loved it. :) Hope to get back there someday. Glad you had a great trip!

One of my all time favorite vacation spots!

We rented a cabin in Camden. It was great. We made day trips into Arcadia.

I love Maine, too. The New England states are just gorgeous!

You should have called, we could've had coffee!

:earboy2:

No fall colors yet, but the acorns are dropping.

I wish they'd change! I'm ready to wear jeans all the time! It's school for cripes sake!

Glad you had a good time! I love it here too :goodvibes

We have a place in Southwest Harbor - spent the summers there growing up -did you get there at all? Also a camp on Long Pond (gotta love that night time skinny dipping !). We go back every summer and I cry everytime I have to come back to NY. Hopefully one day we can relocate there. Mt. Desert Island is one of the most beautiful places in the world. I was born in NY, but my heart belongs to Maine. I remember going to Rockport and seeing Andre years ago. Now I bring my daughter to Camden for a day of shopping and we stop in to see "Andre" (She loves him as much as I did).

So glad you enjoyed your trip to our state! I love it here as well. Acadia/Mt. Desert Island is one of our fave places to go too!

The leaves will change around the first week of Oct. Just in time for the great Fryeburg Fair! We have a booth there and watch the colors change over that week. Hope some of you can come on up and see the beautiful colors!

Glad you had a good time. Sorry the weather wasn't better for you. The leaves will change in about 3 weeks or so.... it is breathtaking at it's peak.

Caribou.... way way WAY up north and not close to anything.... I feel for you Christine. :teeth:

delswife, what town are you in?

We did see a few trees starting to change. The good weather we DID have was just glorious. I ate lobster rolls EVERY day! lol

You either LOVE MAINE or HATE MAINE.........I love it in the spring (mud season) summer and Fall.......Maine is beautiful........I only like ONE (read that mother nature) ONE snow storm....then it can go away.....hahaha.......Hope that you get to see the colors change some time........it is beautiful

I have never been there but have an uncle who goes every summer. I dream of Maine....

I am so sick of the heat and humidity here I swear I am going job hunting and just move. Of course the cost of a winter wardrobe would kill me....I own one sweatshirt....a light jacket and no long sleeved shirts....no sweaters....oiy!

Anyone know a nice small community near the seacoast that needs a police dispatcher for a wage that they can live on? Let me know!

We went to Mount Desert island also two weeks ago. Rented an RV and stayed at Mount Desert Narrows CAmpground. It was so beautiful. Went to Bar Harbor on a whale watching ship, Kayaking, the lumberjack show, toured arcadia national park and yes I too ate Lobster everyday. A few years ago we went to Old orchard Beach which was nice too! What a great state. This is the view from our Campsite at night.

I'm not far from Old Orchard Beach.

You guys know lobsters are insects, right?

But very tasty insects! Especially dipped in melted butter! Or is that "butta"?

funhouse8, my family has always stayed at mt. desert narrows! that's so funny. We used to go up every year when I was younger, but we've missed quite a few now. This year we had reservations, but unfortunately had to cancel due to my grandfather's illness.

Mt. Desert Narrows is such a gorgeous campground - especially with a waterfront campsite!

Stephanie218 - You are right it was so nice. We had a site right there on the water and it took my breath away! I'm so sorry to hear about your Grandfather being sick and having to cancel your vacation. Myabe you can get to go next year.I got my picture working here it is:
