Kona Cafe gets the prestigious Two Big Thumbs Up from us!

Kona had the best food of our entire trip in January. I wish it had better theming and atmosphere. It kinda feels like you're sitting in the lobby coffeeshop. But we'll definitely be going back (maybe twice) on our next trip in October.

I've never been, but based on the positive reviews and 'Ohana's menu changed, we are going to give Kona Cafe a try in September.

Do you need to make an ADR to eat any meal at Kona? I wouldn't think so, but I keep reading post about people going even at non-peak times and people not being able to eat anywhere except counter service and snacks.

We ate at Kona for the first time last trip. Next time we are going twice, once for dinner and another for breakfast. My only negative comment is that the noise level was very high. In fact DH and I were surprised at the noise throughout the Great House.

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I made an adr for our upcoming august trip. heard it was great, so i wanted to give it a try! What is this tonga toast you speak of???? whatever it is it sounds good,i think i might have to get up early and make a special trip to the poly, just to get this tonga toast.:dance3:

YES! I would suggest ADR's for any TS restaurant you're sure you want to eat at. If you're flexible about if/when you eat, then you might be able to wing it and still get seated. But for the most part, ADR's are suggested for most TS places.

That being said, we did arrive at Kona prior to them opening for lunch last November and we were able to get a table (for 2). A few nights earlier we had dinner there thanks to an ADR I'd made for us over 3 months prior, and the place was PACKED, including lots of people waiting to be seated.

Was just there for the first time on 4/5/08. The tonga toast was delicious! I would definitely go back there again just for that!

We had dinner there last week, husband and I neither loved it or hate it, food was good but when I asked husband if he wanted to eat there again he promptly said No, he tried the Tonga Toast at Capt cooks, he enjoyed it, I do not like bananas so skipped it.

Another vote here for "love it"......we love the tonga toast, but since Captain Cook's offers it, we don't "need" to go to Kona.

I don't care for a lot of their dinner choices. Last couple times our mahi mahi was just nasty and overly fishy. I've never had a decent filet there. Every time it has been mealy and tasted like liver. I do like their soups, salads, and pretty much anything for breakfast and lunch though.

Yes, you'll need an ADR for Kona. Although it doesn't fill up right away. It's not like Ohana where you need to call 180 days in advance. We've gotten Kona dinner reservations while we were at WDW. I think it was about 3-4 days before, and during the slowest season, but we got a table for 3 at 5:45PM. So the Kona Cafe is always a good fallback place if everything else is filled up.

But I wouldn't wait. If you want to eat there, make your reservations as soon as possible.

i love it there i only ever had dinner there and the main couse was ok but the best thing i have ever had is the chocolate torte. you do need reservations to get in.
