Wow, this has been an awesome weekend!! Went to mom's on Thursday afternoon, had lots of folks over Thursday evening, and a slow, but steady stream of folks drop by Friday, yesterday, and then the final couple dropped by this evening. After the initial madness Friday morning, I happily had all afternoon Friday, most of yesterday, and most of today to "install", put away, and clean, so that the Christmas "stuff" and the house is back to normal before heading back to work!!! The decorations will stay up through New Years, but at least I don't have all those unwrapped presents sitting under the tree waiting to be put away and put together. I also got all the extra "Christmas" serving dishes put away and got a closet cleaned out!!!

Tomorrow a lot of empty boxes go to the dumpster at work.

When, I have to go back to work the day after Christmas, it really seems to take a lot longer to get all this done.

Went to Wal-Mart and bought some lights for next year at 50% off.

The only thing I didn't accomplish was to buy a new Christmas tree. Our prelit tree has slowly quit working over the last month. I had to add about 4 strings of lights just to get it to look half-way decent. We went searching at several places on Saturday. Nobody had any that I liked left :-(

There just wasn't much in the way of left over Christmas decor left at any of the stores. They are getting a lot better at predicting their inventory, or are sending it back to the warehouse.

I found that at stores as well. I personally think that they just didn't order as much and started to put it on sale before Christmas. The only thing I bought after Christmas was more labels to put on packages. I was disappointed as well. I kept hearing on the news about how hopeful retailers were to rack up more sales after Christmas, but if there is nothing left to buy, what do they want?:confused3

Carol- Start looking on-line for a tree. You will find a lot more to choose from than what the brick & mortar stores carry.

My tree is in fine condition, but I can no longer find replacement bulbs for it. Even though my tree is only 2 years old - it is pre-strung with the old C7 bulbs. Nobody carries those any more. When I take the tree down next weekend, I'm going to see how difficult it is to remove the lights. If it's not too hard, I'll take them off & order some LED lights to replace them with. Either that, or I'll be looking online for C7 bulbs. I found LED C7's, but they're $50 for 50 bulbs. I don't know if I want to spend that kind of $$. But then again, LED's don't burn out easily - so it might be worth the investment.

You can find lots & lots of Christmas stuff online.

The best part of Christmas-on-Friday is that I am on vacation this week, so my Christmas goes right through NYE to the 4th. :thumbsup2

It is nice having Christmas on a Friday. We were able to stay later at my sister's house on Friday than we normally would have. No rushing home because Bob's got to be up at 5:30 am.
I'd like to say we accomplished great things this weekend..but we basically sat around and ATE. Then we "digested". My husband..thinks this is a verb(which I guess it is??)..he acts as if it is an activity..:rotfl:. Example. Me.."do you want to go to Lowes?" Bob..."wait a while, I have to digest".... Did we go to Lowes you ask?....no
We ATE some more!
