I love having teenagers

When my kids were young, my wife and I had to wake the kids up. Once they hit around 16 or so they started getting up around 9am.

Not at all like how I was as a kid. I know I woke my parents up sometimes and they told me I had to go back to sleep.

As I was prepping for tomorrow’s breakfast, I wondered why I was even bothering. If I let them, my three will sleep in until noon!

My 17yo son still will be up early. He negotiated with his 22 yo sister to let her sleep till 8:30 AM.

I’m just feeling very lucky to have them both home this Christmas. We have a back to back on the dream in January and I’m so excited to spend nine nights at sea with them.

wish I was still sleeping in like the rest of my family...ahhh menopause. Mine def changed also when they became teens... sleeping in was much more the norm.... when they were both little I remember being done with presents by 5am for most years

Yeah, long gone are the days when we are woken up pre-dawn. DD18 is practically nocturnal after her first semester of college. We all slept in because some nasty storms kept us awake much later than expected.

Our kids span 13-19 years old. We still get woken up around 4am. One year they let us sleep in until 5:30! But they do start the coffee maker to make sure we have coffee during presents. By 5am gifts were unwrapped and DH and I went back to sleep until 7:30!

HAHA, good point! However, I had to be at work for 5:30am this morning--ER nurse :-(
I do remember that transition a few years ago, it was sad and happy at the same time. I was very happy to ditch moving that damn elf though!

Yep, it's funny because we old people are the ones up early I think we were up by 6... My step-daughter (who is 21) spent the night here on Christmas Eve... had to drag her out of bed at like 9.

She stayed the night at her mother's last night, she said she wasn't going to plan on getting out of bed before noon today.

I have to work today (from home), but I still got up at regular time. It is nice to just relax early and enjoy some coffee in the peace and quiet for a while.

I miss it. Our son is 33 with his own 2 children. It went to fast.
Didn't it though? Now my son nearest to that age lives half way across the country, and got home from work Christmas eve around 2:00am. I miss those days too!
