I Love Disney, and I Love FP+

The family thinks so, but due to the discounts this spring, we're staying at CBR this time. SO excited about surprising them. . .including DH!!

Oh...that's AWESOME! I love the CBR! We've stayed there twice and they were amongst our favorite trips.

I am replying simply because I want to keep the positive-vibe/magic-ridden thread about WDW in front of the line of the negative, Eeyore-attitude threads. Very well said, OP.

We are DL regulars who are taking our third WDW trip in under two months and we couldn't be more excited! Sure, FP+ is definitely going to take some adapting and learning but, hey, we were getting too dang good with the old system anyway! :rotfl2:

I just stayed at CBR last weekend, and even though I didn't spend a lot of time there, I really really liked it! Excellent choice!

Great post. I been going to Disney since I was born, I'm now 40. I was there when it was just MK, remember when EPCOT opened. I remember when Fast Pass started. I think everything they done is for the better. I was there in December stayed at WL. It was one of the best trips I've had. Magic Bands where great FP+ was awesome no need to run to get a FP. Where going back in October will have a great time like we always do. :thumbsup2

So glad to hear good things about CBR! I also have several other surprises for the family up my sleeve. Neither DH nor DS know about the Star Wars character dinner that DD and I booked. I've also got a lunch reservation for BOG that DD doesn't know about (although I'm still trying for dinner). LOVE being sneaky!:cool1:

Preface this by saying that I have yet to experience Magic Bands or FP+, but I'm excited to try both. I will be 40 in just a few days, and I have loved Disney my entire life. I have pictures of me with Disney toys from before I even have memories. Coming from a less-than-affluent family who didn't really enjoy travel, I never got to experience Disney World until I was 27. I had always longed to go, due to my book-and-records that I had as a child that were based on the rides. I have been many times since that first trip. My wife and I went for our honeymoon last year, and we are going for our first anniversary this year. There is NOTHING more magical to me than a Disney trip. I spend hours planning and love every minute of it. I don't plan because I have to, I plan because I want to. I love deciding which restaurants to visit. I love deciding which parks to visit on what days, and trying to fit as much magic in as possible. I have countdown timers on my phone and tablet. I love coming here and reading about the attractions, the shows, the dining, and even the hotels (including our fav, Coronado Springs). I get emotional when I walk down Main Street for the first time on every trip, and during the fireworks, and during Illuminations. I just can't imagine that anything could ever dull my enjoyment of WDW. I see people on here who say their whole trip is ruined because they changed from mushroom risotto to pea risotto at Le Cellier, or because they can't get a 4th ride in on Soarin' in a day, or because the People Mover is being rehabbed during their visit. Really? You can't possibly have a good time if every single detail isn't perfect? You're in a resort full of humans, run by humans. Things go wrong sometimes. WDW isn't geared to your specific tastes. It is meant to have the broadest appeal to as many people as possible, especially children. They didn't remove chicken skewers at 'Ohana just because YOU thought it was the best thing on the menu. I will personally be going at least once a year, God willing, until I am physically unable to travel to Orlando, and I will enjoy every single trip to the fullest, and appreciate Walt's legacy for everything that it is, and not worry about what it isn't, and gladly give a portion of my hard-earned income to a company that, while they aren't perfect, strives to maintain the standards set by Walt so many years ago. My wish is for everyone else to be able to enjoy and appreciate this magical place the same way.

Amen!

Can I make this my signature??

Love it! Your family is soooo lucky to have a "Diznee Mommy" like yourself!

BULLSEYE!

We WDW-freaks know exactly what you're talking about. One of the best posts I've read on these boards.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. The day before I made that post, I had just been discussing the same thing with my DW. If you really think you are having a bad trip to Disney World, find a terminally ill child who is there through the Make-a-Wish foundation. Look at the sheer joy on their faces to just BE at Disney World, and count your blessings. For that child, it is not a vacation, or a chance to try out FP+, or see which restaurants give you the most bang for your buck on the DDP. It is their last, greatest wish on this earth. Please don't ever take WDW for granted, and try to always keep that sense of wonder that the children have. None of us are guaranteed tomorrow, and none of us ever know when our LAST trip will be.

@MichiganDVC...the only thing you would change if that becomes your "new signature" is how every year you will squeeze in at least 3-4 days at Universal...right?:lmao:

Of course. And at the expense of my nights at WDW because I am fed up with (insert latest Disney gripe here.)

Sooo happy to see this thread. It's nice to know I'm not in the minority! I'm super excited to try out FP+, I'm also a DL regular, and I feel like they really did upgrade all the things I didn't like so much about old paper FPs. Like, it can't just be me, but when you had to backtrack to Splash Mountain from where ever you were (usually as faaaaaar away as possible) in the 100%+ Florida humidity? Who liked that? Lol. I sure didn't. Or anyone else ever lose their paper passes? Or have your safari one get unbelievably soaked on Kali? Yep...don't have to deal with any of that anymore! Sound great to me!

Just booked our trip for September and I am looking forward to trying out the Magic bands and FP+. How can I give advice to others if I haven't tried it myself, right? I laugh at the negativity and hope these folks realize how blessed they are to go to Disney so often that they find so many things to complain about. We had always traveled in the hottest, most crowded times of year when I was teaching. We stood in lines, put up with cranky kids, sweated in the hot sun, and enjoyed the attention to detail that is WDW. We must have instilled that in our kids because DD participated in the college program and was one of the princesses. She makes a trip every other year or so but now goes on the corporate dime. DS also goes back, but not as often. DH and I still go, sometimes with extended family, sometimes just the two of us and the magic is still there!
Let's keep this thread going - especially for newbies who need to know that WDW will be magical for their kids and for them. If you don't get to do everything, don't worry - do it the next time because YOU WILL BE BACK!

This kind of banter is how a thread can turn south in a hurry. Why the need to start the Universal bashing in a positive thread?

Now...back to the happy people....

So very true! I have control over very little in this universe, on this planet, and even in my own life. But I do have complete control over my attitude.

Ummm, that was a pretty harmless joke between two friends that was not directed at anyone. I don't see anything insulting or rude in it. And it's a love Disney thread anyway, not a Universal thread. Relax. Think happy thoughts! Plan your next trip to Disney!

Long Live Fastpass+ and the Magic Bands, :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2

In our family planning is part of the vacation. We spend months discussing, checking books, watching videos, listening to podcasts, making spreadsheets, picking restaurants, etc., etc.. We even make it family time to pick FP+. We get at least 9 months of fun from 10 days at Disney. We have decided to go October of 2015. We will start the planning soon. :sad2:

It is all good. Even the negatives are good. They are all 1st world problems. 99.9% of the people on this planet would like to have "our" problems with FP+ and ADR's!!

So great to read a positive post! I've definitely been wondering if I should limit how much I look at these boards because as much as I love obsessing over my upcoming WDW trip, all of the negative posts have started to make me more anxious than excited.

OP here, thanks for all the support! Knew there were still WDW lovers like me! Just booked a trip for less than 2 weeks away, and got all the FP+ reserved. Smooth!!! Even got BOG FP+. Big bonus is the All night event on May 23rd. Just hope we aren't too old to stay up all night!!!
