Question for those of you who do bank account bonuses - Do the banks send you 1099s to report the income? Or do they not send if less than $600?

i had one that did not send me one, that would be Wells Fargo. All others have sent me one even though it wasnt over $600

Is last minute travel club dot com the website most of you have used for DL tickets? Apparently they recently changed their name? I'm considering buying DL tix at the the old price, and their price is over $100 less for 2 adults, 2 children 5 day PH's compared to UCT, who I usually use for WDW tix. I guess I want some reassurance that they're reputable before dropping $1200. Any input would be appreciated!
I used them for DLR and had zero problems.

Definitely legit. They code as travel on the CIP/CSP/CSR too.

I used my BGR link for the 20k and tried it for DH. Business card link still working for 125k and $3000 spend. AND in a color me not surprised despite my putting some spend on all three of his Amex cards since November he got the pop up again. Amex. Seriously.

That stinks! I cannot believe these popups some of you are getting. Have you closed any Amex cards yet? I'm just curious. I've not gotten the popup yet but I just closed my first Amex. Worried next time I go to apply, I'll get the dreaded popup.

Dh booked his and my flights to Orlando end of March! We are staying the first two nights at Rosen Shingle Creek which is where his conference will be. It seems so far away from everything but the resort itself looks very nice! We will have a car until we get to WDW and then turn it in. I booked that already through UR's (much cheaper than either Costco or the conference discount rate).

Then we will stay three nights at WDW. I wasn't able to rent dvc points b/c no studios were available, and the deluxe rates are too high so I'm bummed. I really wanted to stay deluxe since we are kind of priced out of deluxe when we all go and need two rooms.

SO, I currently have three rooms booked: Pop, CS & CBR. We've never stayed at Pop or CBR. Pop is almost $200 less over the three nights. My question is for those of you who have stayed at these resorts, if you were just hanging out (though some of that hanging out will be at other resorts), which would you choose? We are definitely pool people so hoping it is warm enough to swim!

How fun! I am jealous. DH and I were going to go just us for Star Wars race weekend and long story short that has turned into May family trip cancelled and all 5 of us going for 4 nights. Oh well.

I actually really like CBR. It is so close to everything, rooms are nice, and the renovations are all complete. We last stayed there in October again. I guess it comes down to theme, but I would definitely stay at CS or CBR over Pop. I just personally like the CBR theme so much better. I usually don’t care that much about it (why we bought DVC at BLT) but being from the west the theming at CS just does not appeal to me at all.

Thanks for your thoughts! CBR is where we are leaning as well. We liked CS in terms of the refurbed rooms but I didn't super love the resort or the pool. We've long wanted to stay at CBR and the theme appeals to us more as well. Pop is last on our list but I went ahead and booked to hold it in case I felt we needed to trim the budget.

No DH has only 3 Amex cards. The two Delta Platinums and the SPG Lux (upgraded from personal when at the end I got an upgrade bonus). He has never cancelled any card and the paid the annual fees on the Delta cards year after year. Plus on the SPG the first year we got it (after bonus met) we put new garage doors on it for about $6000. There has never really been an extended period where there has been zero spend. I am pretty much at that point now with them though and his account. It is just one more thing to keep track of and if he is getting the pop up either way I am not inclined to use his cards for anything other than the occasional offer.

EDIT: OFFERS ONLY DECREASED ON THE NO AF CARD AND ASCEND!

Quoting this and Bolding for emphasis:

HILTON Public Offers have been decreased - HOWEVER...Increased Offers are still available via Support links:

The offer details via support link are:
  • AMEX Hilton Honors - 100,000 Hilton pts. after spending $1,000 within 3 months
  • AMEX Hilton Honors Ascend - 150,000 Hilton pts. after spending $3,000 within 3 months
  • AMEX Hilton Honors Aspire - 150,000 Hilton pts. after spending $4,000 within 3 months
  • AMEX Hilton Business Card - 125,000 Hilton pts. after spending $3,000 within 3 months
If one of these cards was in your immediate plans, it may make sense to look at it now. AMEX does play with their offers a lot though so it's possible increased offers will return or even be higher in the future. Also reminder to self-refer if you are able to and can generate the higher offer. If not please consider supporting a DISchurner :) Also - if anybody notices these support links stop working please let the group know.

Sorry, my bad - I didn’t realize offers had only changed on some of the cards. Still seems like AMEX is messing with these offers so not a bad idea to pull the trigger before your preferred offer walks away. My bad for the #fakenews lol!

I wouldn't stay at Pop for a resort only stay and I love Pop. I haven't had any complaints when staying there and am again for my solo Aug trip, but I don't think it's nice enough for just a resort stay. It'd be nice being able to walk to AoA but I would want the option of more than just the food court or leaving the resort to eat at.

Just smh over that. So unfair and so annoying

So, I don’t follow the news much these days (used to follow the political stuff avidly but got burned out!). I’m aware there’s a govt shutdown. Does that mean anything for my kids getting their passports renewed soon? Also I have an appt for GE interview coming up in less than two weeks. Are they still doing those?
Passports yes. GE no. Our GE appointments were cancelled, no notice or anything. We were able to reschedule for March but who knows if it will even work then.

Agree though we will leave the resort for dinner each night anyways...whether we stay at any of the three...but yeah, it doesn't have the vibe I want for a couples only resort stay. I'm still holding out hope something opens up for us to stay at a deluxe but right now I just cannot justify the prices since our family may be making several trips to WDW this year to visit dd.

So aside from buying discounted Disney GCs and cashing out URs to “reimburse” yourself, is there any viable and scaleable (ie you can earn a lot of pts easily) churning avenue to Disney Cruises right now?

The death of URs for Disney frustrates me continually, lol.
Nope. I used a combo of cash back cards (BOA, Discover) bank bonuses, discounted GCs and URs for statement credit.

ETA. Also, booked thru Costco for $450 costco cash card.

We absolutely loved the theming of CS when we stayed in november. I thought it was beautiful! Don’t know what the main pool situation looks like with construction though. I know it was closed when we were there, but maybe it’s opened back up now.

I think Pop is a great resort, but if you’re planning on spending a lot of time at the resort then maybe it wouldn’t be as great. If you like kitschy then you would probably enjoy it. I have no problems with it at all and am looking forward to our stay there again, but maybe if your DH isnt all in on Disney or less than traditional theming then he might not like it.

We are staying at Pop first time next month for only one night so I can’t comment on that. If it were me I’d pick CS. I love the pool vibe there (specifically the snack/lunch bar). Plus it’s a convention resort so I think you would probably encounter a little less chaos poolside that CBR. But both are great. Did you look into Swolphin?

I did look at Swolphin but the rates are pretty high for our nights. IIRC, with the resort fee, it would be well over $300 night. I just cannot spend that right now since I don't know how much we will be heading to Orlando later in the year.

That is a good point about maybe extra chaos at the CBR pool.

Does anyone know or think that if I rent a stroller through Magic Strollers and pay for it with DH's CSR that travel insurance could possibly kick in for theft or damage? Insurance is $25 for the stroller through them.

And in doing research for my trip, I just discovered we are going to be there during Mardi Gras. I am a pretty seasoned WDW planner and never once considered Mardi Gras crowds. Some crowd calendars are showing moderate crowds and some are showing WORST-CROWDS-EVER-JUST-STAY-HOME crowd levels. Anyone been during Mardi Gras? Sorry, I know...so OT!
Went two years ago during Mardi Gras. Busy but totally doable. I actually thought better than the previous years Nov trip. The weather was amazing and we might lots of really nice people from Louisiana. We are from MA and my kids made friends with some boys from NOLA. They still take about when they asked them “what’s y’alls last name anyways?” And they do the accent!
