I love credit cards so much!

I've never dealt with Fidelity, but I think they've been in business for quite a long time. I can't see them doing that unless it's written into your contract somewhere. Aren't they the company Disney DVC uses?

Yes Fidelity is the company(or maybe one of the companies)..Disney refers people to if they call to ask about selling their membership. Other timeshares do the same thing . The company my son works for competes with Fidelity for Wyndham buy backs, amount others

Ten debit purchases and $5000+ deposited in PNC (some recycled), now to wait for the bonus. Once the bonus hits I can change the account to the free version, correct? I have to look that part up again.

Is it a bad idea to do this for dh and fund it using his SW Biz to partially meet MSR? I can meet it eventually without the bank funding, just thought I could knock out two things in one maybe. Assuming, of course, opening a second PNC account at the same address is doable.

I've given up on Varo, no bonus and no referral link. I'll just leave the account open for a few months and close it. It's useless to me.
I funded two PNC checking accounts for DH and myself about a month apart with SW Biz. Same address, no problem. Easy way to get through MSR.

I think the school she is looking at is at about 50% accepted. Will find out more next month. She just finished up her application and essays for Presidential scholarship which would be $5000 a year for 4 years. Not sure how many students get this. It also automatically applies her for the honors program, so hoping that will help her also.

Thanks to everyone for all the great info. It is really helpful to hear from others who are in that environment.
Good luck to your dd! That is helpful having a school that admits so many candidates. The 25% was quoted on a news report I was watching and it was a national stat. The program my dd is hoping to get into is super popular here and iirc, the stats were more inline with the 25% accepted. My dd has a friend who is attending a school that admits far more than 50% of the applicants but the program is not accredited. I do wonder what the job prospects will be like for her.

Are they sure booking that offer does not require them to attend the timeshare presentation....any offers I’ve received similar to this have required it

My concern - when I have received those types of deals from timeshare places, you had to buy the deal first and then see if there were dates available that worked with your schedule. So I would be careful to read the fine print on availability, dates excluded, and if there is an expiration date. Even though there is no mention on the offer, if he follows up on it some fine print may suddenly appear about attending a presentation. It is a good deal though! We have stayed at Sheraton Vistana Resort which I believe is a different property, booked through Orbitz, and decided to kill a few hours at the presentation for a Disney gift card. It was a bit hard to get out at the end of it.

Thanks for the tips! Were the dates just few and far between? It seems like everyone had issues with availability. I’m wondering though if because he can work remotely from whenever if it would be easier for him to find dates.

Can I use a SW GC to Pay for EBCI? Or will the AmEx Plat or Gold travel credit work for paying them?

HILTON Public Offers have been decreased - HOWEVER...Increased Offers are still available via Support links:

The offer details via support link are:
  • AMEX Hilton Honors - 100,000 Hilton pts. after spending $1,000 within 3 months
  • AMEX Hilton Honors Ascend - 150,000 Hilton pts. after spending $3,000 within 3 months
  • AMEX Hilton Honors Aspire - 150,000 Hilton pts. after spending $4,000 within 3 months
  • AMEX Hilton Business Card - 125,000 Hilton pts. after spending $3,000 within 3 months
If one of these cards was in your immediate plans, it may make sense to look at it now. AMEX does play with their offers a lot though so it's possible increased offers will return or even be higher in the future. Also reminder to self-refer if you are able to and can generate the higher offer. If not please consider supporting a DISchurner :) Also - if anybody notices these support links stop working please let the group know.

Had FOMO and decided to get the Hilton Biz for DH. Instant approval, yay! I love that about AmEx cards. And looks like no hard pull yet. That particular offer hasn't changed, but having the BGR 20k referral already had me pretty close to the edge. Guess the threat of it going down pushed me over, lol. The 10 Priority Pass will come in handy since we only have the CSR that covers 3 and we're a family of 4.

Have a bunch of other MSR, so think I'm going to be paying the kid's tuition at 2.85%. So $85.5 in credit card fees + $95 AF, guess I'll think of the MRs covering that and then the HH points are extra. No immediate plans for the points, but thinking Bora Bora (or maybe Maldives). Probably not until 2021 or later though. Feels a little too early to be collecting points. But maybe there's no such thing, lol.

I also applied for the CIC last night, but it went to 2 weeks. I never seem to get instant approval for Chase cards. As @Albort said, guess they don't approve over the weekend. Phooey, I should have realized that.

Thanks! I'll just leave the money there. I tried to do a .50 Amazon reload with the card, but it was denied. Maybe too soon after activating my card? Not sure.

I downgraded to the plain Virtual Wallet which only requires $500 to be fee free after the bonus hit (and it was 45 days after account opening). Easy to do online. Then I moved all the money except around $500 to the Growth account since it has 2.35-2.40% interest rate (that may be dependent on your area - we don't have a local PNC).

Odd about the Amazon reload. I did both mine and DH's right after activating the debit card. No problems. Maybe double check the numbers?

What is it with bread? It seems to be the first thing I think of along with water and toilet paper (both of which I have plenty of).

But just in case, I asked my DD to make some banana bread with the spotty bananas on my counter. And, maybe I'll figure out an apple dessert with the extra apples I have. At least the house will smell lovely!
Milk bread and toilet paper always seem to be the big thing. We needed bread Bc it was almost out.

Started snowing here at 4

That's really interesting on the growth account. We don't have a local PNC either. I'll check into it!

Thanks -- I am slightly worried about ROFR because it's $105 per point which, looking at the data from the DVC forum, seems to be right on the edge (some at this price or lower have passed but some others have not). No banked points but all 2019 points.
Who knows how Disney picks. My first contract was taken. Took it as a sign to change resorts. Hopefully yours will pass.

Is last minute travel club dot com the website most of you have used for DL tickets? Apparently they recently changed their name? I'm considering buying DL tix at the the old price, and their price is over $100 less for 2 adults, 2 children 5 day PH's compared to UCT, who I usually use for WDW tix. I guess I want some reassurance that they're reputable before dropping $1200. Any input would be appreciated!

Question for those of you who do bank account bonuses - Do the banks send you 1099s to report the income? Or do they not send if less than $600?

Yes, and I thought I remembered that DVC actually sold some repo'ed contracts through Fidelity. I'm thinking @AmyAnne will have no problem getting through ROFR.

They are definitely legit! I used them in July for our DL tickets. I had to call them to expedite the processing since I had ordered them very last minute. Oops!

Dh booked his and my flights to Orlando end of March! We are staying the first two nights at Rosen Shingle Creek which is where his conference will be. It seems so far away from everything but the resort itself looks very nice! We will have a car until we get to WDW and then turn it in. I booked that already through UR's (much cheaper than either Costco or the conference discount rate).

Then we will stay three nights at WDW. I wasn't able to rent dvc points b/c no studios were available, and the deluxe rates are too high so I'm bummed. I really wanted to stay deluxe since we are kind of priced out of deluxe when we all go and need two rooms.

SO, I currently have three rooms booked: Pop, CS & CBR. We've never stayed at Pop or CBR. Pop is almost $200 less over the three nights. My question is for those of you who have stayed at these resorts, if you were just hanging out (though some of that hanging out will be at other resorts), which would you choose? We are definitely pool people so hoping it is warm enough to swim!

@Albort I took your advice and with P2 around tried to HUCA. “Your wait will be more than 10 minutes.” Never mind. At this point I am halfway thinking I just leave it as a Freedom and figure the rest out. Maybe it is a sign I don’t really want to pay for the CSR fee anyway and just one of us having it is enough.

I used my BGR link for the 20k and tried it for DH. Business card link still working for 125k and $3000 spend. AND in a color me not surprised despite my putting some spend on all three of his Amex cards since November he got the pop up again. Amex. Seriously.

In my case I paid for it and then called to schedule because I was not ready to schedule dates when I paid the deposit. I wanted to go for our Anniversary which was February 27...so this year weekend before or weekend after would have worked. Despite that the only weekend in February she could offer which did not require a “premium up charge” was like the first weekend of February. I booked that because I did not want to pay extra. Then thinking about it decided we don’t really want to go then...any change requires more money.
