Hi my friends, I have missed so much it seems while in WDW and then I got sick, but I'm trying to catch up and want to say I missed you guys while away from here, haha! I was having withdrawals! Thanks for the shout out @SouthFayetteFan, you were one of the first people to help me when I joined, along with my friend @wendow! Everyone here is so friendly and welcoming and not judgemental I just love it.

I'm seeing some discussion on AA and Disney, so going to keep reading more on that, I'm very interested since I upgraded my ticket to an AP.

Anything else I missed? I hope everyone had a great Holiday!

ETA: Oh @SouthFayetteFan , I wanted to tell you we could see the castle from our room at BLT. I paid for Lake View but faxed a request for a room that also had theme park view from touring plans and got one! At first we weren't in our room to catch the fireworks and I was thinking what a waste, but toward then end of our trip we were able to make it work. We watched the fireworks from our balcony after dinner at Chef Mickey's for my DD's birthday and it was amazing! She was so tired and even being as close as we were, we didn't want to trek back to MK and hunt for a spot. SO worth it to have that view! Just thought I'd share!

Thanks. Back to the drawing board. I think we will have this issue with all cat 4s though, not a place we want to stay a week. Anyone find a good place? Ours will be used in July.

I had an old cat 6 cert. I got 30,000 points returned to my account and will be using the new cat 4 certificate for a week at the Springhill Suites in Wisconsin Dells this June.

Thank you! Since you are from the area and would stay there, that makes me feel better about it! We would definitely rent a car and are fine with driving to the beaches, etc. I believe that hotel and the Springhill Suites (I think) right next to it have free parking, too. One more question - would end of June be an okay time to go? We are okay with hot weather!
Yes thats a perfect time. I am looking at 4th of July week for this year. Last year we did the last week of June. It will be hot and humid, but thats good beach weather. Good thing about coastal cities is you get that breeze off the water. Just take a midday break, like at Disney. :)
Maybe we will meet in passing!
If you stay there, eat at California Dreaming. It is technically a chain, but I like the food and more importantly, the view there is lovely. Also do Fleet landing for a waterfront restaurant. 82 queen is great. We LOVE home team bbq...they catered our wedding. Andolinis pizza. Oh man, I am hungry now. :mickeybar
Happy to help!

I still need to call and get the 30 refund. I plan to try and upgrade it on the sly at the same time. Need to pop over to FlyerTalk and find out the latest on that.

Went on my GC run...

$250 for the $50 back at Lowes on DH's spg biz. Got the redemption email.

Hit up Best Buy for $100. Need to do it twice more in the next couple days for the amex $30/$300 offer plus swagbucks.

Lastly did staples. I had the 30%+10% on 3 cards. I only want disney at this time so I just did 3 cards for $50 each since they didn't have variable load. He let me do it all in 1 transaction and split pay on all 3 cc, so it triggered $5 back for RMN. Yay for that. Hopefully it tracks fine for chase offers. If not, I will be following up.

@amalone1013 is it you with the gift card spreadsheet?

I've had a Lowe's gift card plus some other stuff track and credit while using my Hyatt card. I've also used the Marriott offer for 30% off at PetSmart and it tracked and credited but took a long time.

Since I've depleted my stash of Disney gift cards, I have 3 cards more with the Lowe's offer and the Staples offer that I intend to grab tomorrow, as well as the Best Buy offer 10% of $300 on my Amex.

Just waiting for family to show at my door....Merry Xmas to all!
If you buy GCs with the Lowes 30% offer, please share if it works. I have it but not sure if I can use it, because all I really need is GCs (shh don’t tell DH, he was eyeing more Christmas blowups)

Chicago-area (or knowledgeable) DISers. I know it’s last minute because we leave for Chicago on Thursday, but any restaurant recommendations for dinner? We will have 3 nights in Chicago. I’m thinking it might not be the most crowded time and so we might still be able to get reservations if anyone has recommendations. We are doing dim sum at Duck Duck Goat on Saturday before seeing Hamilton, but that is the only reservation we have so far. Thanks!
Yumm. So jealous. I love all of Izard’s restaurants. I gave recs to someone else recently, so just cutting and pasting here

“Giordano’s Pizza is also one of my faves. Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder is also a fave with many though I’ve never been there. Portillo's or Gold Coast Dogs for hot dogs. Smoque BBQ also highly recommended, on my to-do list. For fancier dining, anything by Stephanie Izard: Girl & the Goat; Little Goat Tavern; Duck, Duck, Goat; all delicious, though will need reservations for sure. For Mexican, Rick Bayless has street food to fine dining: Xoco, Frontera Grill and Topolobampo. Always great Chinese food in Chinatown. Lettuce Entertain You is a group that owns a bunch of restaurants and I’ve never had a bad meal in any of them. (Leye.com)”

Yes, you would need the internet. Internet only is 40 a month for me. If it was 95 then it might not be reasonable to skip cable and add on streaming.
Well I didit. Cancelled cable today. Comcast was $192 per month for tv, Internet and phone. Cancelled phone and tv. Internet only is $92. Hulu for $40/mo (but $5 off x 4 months with Amex offer) and an antenna for local channels (free from BIL).
DH and I have cell phones. DS9 does not but he is never home without one of us. I am planning on activating my old iPhone for him, probably in March for his bday, which will add $10/ mo to our Sprint bill. Still saving money though.

We are bailing when our 2 years is up in February. Got a letter that directv is going up, but we were planning to cancel anyways. It is kind of scary but we don't watch live tv so I am sure it will be fine.

Finally got my CapOne Venture card today (20 days after I applied). Think I've been spoiled by Chase - probably would have received the card, met MSR, and had the points pending already, lol. Had a bunch of charges I could have put towards MSR, but oh well.

Did chat to ask for my cash advance limit reduced to zero, but no go. They can't change it at all (tied to credit limit). Looked up some DPs and seems that's the case. Was going to fund a PNC savings, but now thinking maybe I won't take the chance. A few DPs of success, but not enough to make me feel confident (unlike the Chase cards with tons of DPs).

Hope everyone had a great holiday!

OK, a quick question...I have the use chase pay 5X for at least $25 each time and get a bonus of 1500 URs on my CFU. When I SM'ed Chase to confirm, because I remember getting the email but couldn't find it again online, they said I have it for Samsung pay. I looked around online and I am confused...are they essentially the same thing? I was planning on going to BB and get some GC's if this will work, otherwise I'll just go to Staples and use my CIC to buy the GC's.

What is the best way to open a savings account for a minor (DS11) in his name with me as a co-owner? He has several thousand $ in cash at our house. Bonus if he can get an opening account bonus.

I’m not sure of the rules now since my kids are 28 and 31 but when they were that age you had to open custodial accounts in their name...I also once they had that much saved bought Disney stock for them....the about $2,000 bought years ago is worth a lot more today....but who knows what’s going to happen tomorrow...

what device do u have? Samsung Pay allows u to use ChasePay everywhere u go. your not stuck to just BBy.

Those with Amex accounts... I just happened to notice the Delta Reserve is up to 70,000 miles via a referral link ($4k spend). I think the public offer is only 40,000 miles. Consider this if you are looking at this card. I don't have it and never had - big annual fee - but I do know we have some Delta hostages here. Just passing along.

Less than 2 min wait and the call was short and easy with chase. Guess I should have waited to start with. She was happy I'd already frozen everything.

I'm so glad you were finally able to contact them and take care of the fraud issue. I think it's scary that you weren't able to reach them for so many days. I realize it was a holiday, but people can do a lot of spending in 4 days and I would think they would keep a bare bones staff to deal with this stuff.

I agree but I'm guessing since the regular customer service was there and could be a fraud alert on a card they felt that was sufficient. I was just surprised when banks were open Christmas Eve that their fraud dept was closed. I called before noon eastern so it's not like they were there and closed early. I knew nothing bad should happen but it's still better to have them know it's actually fraud. And I gave her the correct mailing address to mail the confirmation to so I don't have to worry if the post office decides it's wrong this time even though they didn't the first time.
