2019 travel plans -

Spring: NCL Bliss cruise to Mexico. Did my 9th refare today. Maybe this really is the last one, lol. Pre-cruise hotel was with URs. Probably will do a food tour in Puerto Vallarta with URs.

Summer: Iceland/Scotland. Flight there on Icelandair paid for with URs, flight back from Aberdeen with AA miles on BA (but boo on high fees/taxes). Might do a puffins boat tour in Iceland with URs. Booked vacation rentals with cash. Keep thinking maybe I should switch to a UR booking, but haven't seen anything that seems worth it comparatively. Seems I get a bit attached to my choices, lol. Car rentals with URs were expensive in Scotland and non-existent in Iceland.

Winter: Carnival Panorama cruise to Mexico (again). A bit on the fence about this one since it's the same itinerary (brand new ship though). But I've saved $500 with AmEx offers at this point, so maybe I'll keep it.

Contemplating:
- Weekend trip for anniversary, maybe Mendocino, hopefully using URs.
- Taking the kids to WDW by myself (I get more vacation days than DH). Or maybe more likely, the DL Halloween party for a long weekend. Looking at the Courtyard Anaheim Theme Park Entrance with URs.

OH MY!! What a stressful way to start a trip. That rivals my night at the “quality” inn with Marriott story! Glad it all worked out in the end :)

Yes I remember your ordeal.......I haven’t booked anything other than our DVC stays in soo long I didn’t think to confirm the reservation with the hotel directly....lesson learned

Make sure to shoot support an email for your referral. It worked for that one person so maybe it will work for others? (It expires 12/31 so that’s why I recommend sending it asap if the turn around time really is a week.)
I'm considering that if I ever get the acct. From reading DPs, I'm guessing I get ID request tomorrow. I have DH's work phone sitting here on my desk (yay for that unused Gov't Iphone), but I keep forgetting to have him unlock it. I wanted to see if I can log into the app. Figured I'd rather try to IOS version than the Android. I'll have to remember to ask him when he's done painting.

I’m super paranoid now too about it. I call hotels ahead all the time now to confirm they have my reservation (even tho it makes no sense).

And I would say yours is even more stressful because a multi night stay at Disney vs one night passing thru are very different!

Wow, he can load apps on his gov’t issued phone? My agency has ours so locked down, it’s ridiculous and a piece of junk. Heck, we don’t even have a notes, map or weather app.

He's a contractor, not sure if that makes a difference. I wasn't sure if he'd be able to, but figured I'd ask and we'd try. It otherwise sits in a drawer. He had to charge it before we could attempt. He requested not to be sent one, but they wouldn't listen. If it's here I might as try to make use of it right?!

He logged me in and I logged into the app and I do have an acct. I was waiting on an email! When I logged in it says I should have my card by 12/25.

Wow I’m really glad you guys brought this up since almost all of our Japan stays are booked through URs! I’ll make a note to call about a month before we go. Thanks!

OK, you all have me worried now. We booked our Philadelphia stay with URs. Guess I need to call to confirm.

Just thought I would report that my Marriott stay last week which was booked with URs went without a hitch - didn't call ahead to confirm - but had no problems.

I've booked quite a few UR hotel stays and never once had a problem with my reservation not being there when we arrived. I think @SouthFayetteFan's and @palhockeymomof2's experiences are not the norm but considering there are two just here among us is concerning. Definitely a good reminder to check all reservations in the future.

Oooops lol. Didn’t mean to spread my paranoia to everybody LOL! Sorry @Haley R @mmmears - I surely hope that @palhockeymomof2 and my experiences are VERY isolated and RARE :)
Lol that’s okay. I’m still gonna call about a month out just to make sure. It would be bad to arrive in another country and try to figure that all out

Thanks. I think I'll still call and check, since it wouldn't be fun to show up and not have a room reserved. I appreciate the info in any case.

To anyone who as booked with URs....confirm your reservation directly with the hotel..our first reservation with URs and .I don’t know who messed up ...Chase Travel...the 3rd party agency they use to contact Wyndham to confirm the room or Wyndham....
but when we went to check in today for our Wyndham Bonnet Creek..they didn’t don’t have the reservation in their system...
11am Called Chase URs..they see the reservation..but can’t get in touch with their 3rd party reservationists...they tell me to call back in an hour.
12pm call back..3rd party confirms the reservation..says give Wyndham 30 min t0 have it show up in,their system
12:30..still not In Wyndhams system ..call Chase...after 45 min..they tell me it’s In Wyndham system but not on,the resort level...pretty much everyone is blaming everyone else
3:30...after 3 more phone calls finally we have a room

I have no idea if the change over to Expedia caused this mess or not..but the front desk Wyndham people kept calling them even though I told them it was booked in July before booking was through Expedia

Received resort credits ....but I would of much rather been at Epcot...

Oh my, what a pain! I would be so :furious:. My guess is it's more of a Wyndham issue than a Chase UR issue. We own a Wyndham timeshare and I've read of instances where the reservation doesn't make it from the central system to the resort system. Enough times that I usually call to confirm and sometimes request a particular unit location while I'm at it.

Hope the rest of your trip is glitch free!

Ugh, the new Expedia interface on Chase sucks! Just booked SW flights on points and CP for end of Jan to go to Universal so we can activate our APs and trying to book HRH and Chase keeps erroring out. Maybe we’ll just book the AP rate and pay for the room. My CSR travel credit should be resetting soon so there is $300. Surprising DH and DS with the trip Christmas morning. Hopefully DH doesn’t mind DS missing one day of school but the flight was much cheaper on Wed than Thurs.
LOVE surprise Disney trips!! Very cool. Hope your DH is too excited/shocked to be worried about your DS missing that one day ;)

Fwiw I’ve never had an issue with a UR reservation getting lost either but I call prior to travel. Every time! I call a week after booking to get my hotel confirmation number (which has maybe once matched what Chase gave me) and I call a week before arrival just to double confirm my requests & that the res is in the system.

IMHO: Call the hotel before you arrive if you booked via 3rd party EVERY TIME. No matter what 3rd party system you use.

Did y’all catch this one on Reddit today? https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/a7lgfu/comment/ec4kyla Person in front of them (rather boastfully) guested 7 people on his Priority Pass from his “Chase card” without a clue he’d have to pay for 5 later. Makes me wonder what the most amount of people unexpectedly paid for on the CSR PP has been after the policy change...

So perhaps my "paranoia" is warranted :) I think this is sound advice, it's always good to KNOW that your room will be there for you. For many of us, travel is our happy place and I for one want to avoid any stress when on a trip.
