Did y’all catch this one on Reddit today? https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/a7lgfu/comment/ec4kyla Person in front of them (rather boastfully) guested 7 people on his Priority Pass from his “Chase card” without a clue he’d have to pay for 5 later. Makes me wonder what the most amount of people unexpectedly paid for on the CSR PP has been after the policy change...

some people are just dumb and plays with fire thinking they will be okay.
Saw a post last night, guy signed up for him and his wife the Barclay AA card, made a purchase, points posted, cancelled his card. He was bragging how he got his AF back.
Many people commented that hes just burning the bridge with Barclays...

Claims he is doing it a different way, gonna wait 2-3 years before he applies for another Barclay card again... i facepalmed.

I for one can tell you from experience that when an issuer decides they don't like you...they seem to remember FOREVER (here's lookin at you AMEX RAT, LOL!!)

I was just catching up there and saw that, have to say that was actually kinda nice of that poster to mention it to the guy at least. But o_O for that guy if it was the CSR. Hope he pocketed a bunch of chips at least.

Fwiw I’ve never had an issue with a UR reservation getting lost either but I call prior to travel. Every time! I call a week after booking to get my hotel confirmation number (which has maybe once matched what Chase gave me) and I call a week before arrival just to double confirm my requests & that the res is in the system.

IMHO: Call the hotel before you arrive if you booked via 3rd party EVERY TIME. No matter what 3rd party system you use.

THIS 1000%

This week are having major problems with Expedia's reservations filtering into our computer systems... to the point where the reservations are coming over for standard rooms when they have booked suites.

ive learned that RAT only hates u if u dont spend on their card... lol
proof: friend had a 680 credit score, they still gave him a Amex Biz Plat since he spends $130k a month with them.

looking at the churning survey proves that.

I never posted our 2019 travel plans :-)

March: with dh to Miami Beach for an work award trip :D We'll be staying at 1 Hotel South Beach. Anyone have suggestions for interesting things to do/see and good restaurants? @calypso726 and anyone else? We'll need to find 2 lunches and a dinner. One of our chosen activities is a Cuban food tour, yum!

and the rest of the year is open  No WDW trip until youngest's spring break 2020.

Should do:
--visit my aunties in Sacramento, maybe in the summer so we can go "up to the cabin"; hello SW CP
--see a good friend who is now in Halifax; drive up there with stops in Boston (dh has never been omg) and Acadia NP

Would like to:
--spend some time with dh off-grid, hiking in national parks (perhaps Zion/Bryce Canyon?). He really needs several days when clients and his assistant cannot reach him.

Maybe I'll be chosen in the Yosemite backcountry lottery

If you have a rental car there are a ton of good restaurants in the Wynwood area. In South Beach, the News Cafe is a nice spot for lunch and people watching. Joe's Stone Crab has been around forever, longer than Miami Beach has been a city. Hope that helps.

Still in catch up mode but here are our 2019 plans:

We will be in Antarctica from Christmas through the first week of the New Year. Used AA miles to get our flights for that trip. The cost of it earned us a travel together ticket with British Airways which we will use to go to Europe for a future unplanned trip.

January, we will be going to New York for the Mickey True Original Exhibition. We are staying at a Residence Inn by Central Park that available using our annual free night certificate with our Marriott cards. Flights were paid for with Amex MR points.

March, we leave for a trip to Dubai staying at the Al Maha Desert Resort and Spa using Starriott points at 60K per night before the category changes to something like 100K per night. Then we fly to the Maldives and at staying in Overwater Bungalows using Hilton points. The $500 sea plane transfers are covered with the Hilton Aspire resort benefit. We are flying first class on Etihad using Alaska miles that were accumulated with the Marriott Night and flight packages before they were devalued.

April we are going to WDW for Flower and Garden. DVC points and staying at the Boardwalk.

May we are going to New Orleans for a long weekend and using our 7 night travel package certificate from one of the aforementioned Marriott night and flight packages.

June/July we are going to Scotland using a British Airways travel together pass that was earned last year.

August we will be going to New York for the weekend to see Hamilton and we used AA gift cards to pay for the flights.

Late August and early September we will be on a 3 night Disney Cruise paid for with discounted Disney GCs or earned at 5x UR points.

September/October is our Adventures by Disney trip to Japan. Flights are in first using MR points with a bonus transferred to Virgin Atlantic in order to book ANA. The trip will be paid for using discounted Disney GCs or earned at 5x UR points.

late October - WDW F&W and staying at AKV with DVC points

November Thanksgiving trip will be a repeat and we are taking both sides of the family again to WDW using DVC points.

Tentatively planning Disneyland in December but nothing set in stone just yet.

I've booked quite a few UR hotel stays and never once had a problem with my reservation not being there when we arrived. I think @SouthFayetteFan's and @palhockeymomof2's experiences are not the norm but considering there are two just here among us is concerning. Definitely a good reminder to check all reservations in the future.

I agree. Just catching up....But when I booked with UR's I didn't have issues. With that being said I prob will check on future reservations. Just to be sure...Esp for our next that it will be at least 6 nights.

I want to try to finish up my CIP MSR in the next week, and was considering trying to MS. Is there any particular type of giftcard I should buy to do this with? I was planning on either buying a MO at WM or Dillons (Kroger). Never tried this before so figured I'd start with a small amount to try first to see how it goes so that if I'm not able to buy a MO I won't be stuck with a large amount. Any advice would be appreciated!

Goals! Can't wait to hear about your Al Maha stay! Definitely on my list for 2021...

Damn these last minute bargains! I guess the ONLY good thing is I'm going to meet the spend on my Aspire card! On that note do my $250 airline gcs that will get reimbursed count towards the spend?

My 13yo just got my apple watch (series 1) this week with me getting the 3. The 9yo wants an apple watch (yes, I know...god damn living in the snobbiest city in MI). He has an iphone 7 (scored that brand new from ATT for $.99) but he doesn't have cellular service yet so actually getting him a watch is kinda stupid. But today the fitbit smart watch is like $85. He wants a fit bit (and likely would buy himself the $80 kids version with Xmas money). I just bought him one and now the debate will begin to give it to him. I may have bought 2, with the idea of trying to quick flip one of them. Hey I didn't think I'd be able to flip (nor was I looking to) the PS4 I got on black friday for my DS. My HS students actually suggested it, LOL. That $80 I gained helped to accept the $230 I paid on the Switch instead. Worst case scenario, I return the other one if I can't flip it.

A single mom is gotta do what she can do, LOL.

And before I buy the GCs on the Aspire, AA I can buy $100/ea and $50/ea on Delta, right? But first I go into my account and chose one of them, correct? I'm still torn on which to pick. If I'm flying to see the BF AA makes more sense. But if I'm going with which I'm mostly likely to fly other places I'd chose Delta. I normally use miles to see the BF since we often do last minute bookings (as a cop his work schedule is always up for change).

Amex offers - I've had a $30 of $100 offer for White House Black Market on a couple of cards and it was getting ready to expire in 4 days and I hadn't made it over to the store. So this morning since they flood me with emails I decided to use it online to buy a $100 egift card. Egift card purchases also get you a $20 e coupon of some sort.

Got the Great News email instantly. WHBM processes the egift card through cash star, but there were no exclusions for gift card in the offer. The $20 part is supposed to show up within 10 days and is good until January 15.

I was sort of expecting the $20 to show instantly as the $100 did. Nope. Both gift card and coupon are good at their outlets, but the offer was only good online or in store at boutiques. Sort of convoluted.

Well, here's hoping the coupon email shows today as I'd like to use it today or tomorrow. No way do I want to go out on the weekend or on Xmas Eve!

I think this is a great offer if the $30 gets applied, which I think it will. I will have paid $70 for $120 spending power and then should be able to take advantage of their numerous sales. We will see.

That’s right. I think you can change your airline next year tho so you could potentially split it.

A little off topic, but I'd been doing the chase pay for the Freedom category and then for the 1500 points on the CSP. The only place I could really use it was at a Shell gas station. There is one close to my house that is the same price as where I'd been going. So I finally got around to signing up for their rewards program to save $.05/gallon. When I used that for the first time it triggered a savings for chase pay of $.35/gallon, plus the $.05. So I paid $1.66/gallon of gas last night! That purchase triggered another savings of $.25 so my next fill up will be $.30 off. The chase pay offer says it expires on 1/31. I guess Chase got what they wanted from me in getting people to use Chase Pay, but for savings of $.30-.40/gallon, I'll change where I get gas! I was kind of wishing I had a gas can I could fill up like @SouthFayetteFan! :D

I’m going to take a moment for my fellow Californians here- OP is paying $2.06/gallon pre discounts. At a SHELL. Sometimes I forget just how expensive living in the CA sun is...
