I’ve decided on Southwest for P2’s Amex Plat airline credit. I logged on to his acct to choose the airline and the page wouldn’t come up. There’s not typically a problem with choosing your airline this late in the year is there? I’m hoping this won’t be a hassle. I’m doing this on my iPad so I’ll try again on the desktop. Probably better that way anyhow.

I read somewhere (might have been here?) about waiting 72 hours or so after choosing your airline before buying gift cards to get the airline credit. Did I read that right or is that regarding something else? Don’t want to mess up when it comes to spending $200. I haven’t seen any negative dp’s on SW getting the credit on a $200 gc so if you’ve seen any please let me know!

Is the concert at the Dr Phillips center ...if so have you thought about hotels downtown, you could walk to the concert and if you haven’t been downtown Orlando has lots of great restaurants and at Christmas time things going on around the lake too

It's at the Amway center. I dont know much about the downtown area. This will be a weekend in January. I'll have to poke around more

I just went into the store and was able to buy more giftcards - the ones I wanted that were already sold out online were still available in store but the in store deals will be gone soon. People were buying stacks of gift cards.

Maybe I'll drag DH by today just to see...

I'm so confused. I want to apply for an Amex platinum card. I tried pulling available offers going incognito, but it still puts me into my login page. Somehow it recognizes me as a cardholder (I have a gold Amex). I want to try to get a 100K bonus if possible for either me or DH. I like the global entry reimbursement and the Uber reimbursement as well as the lounge access. I have a European trip in the works and that would be helpful. I managed to pull 75K offer for DH (no referral). Can I do better?

Can confirm that RMN credited back in September when I did a samsclub .com order for Disney GCs. Did the order on my iPhone. It was a PITA.

I had problems all last week trying to select an airline -- I tried a few times a day for three or four days before it finally worked yesterday (got an email confirmation, too). I would keep trying over the next few days. Last year I waited until the last minute (end of December) to use the credits and had no problems but I'm going to make sure I have all the credits used ASAP this year.

That’s on the other side of 4 so not walkable....my son lives downtown a block off lake Eola we had never ventured out of the Disney bubble until he moved there two years ago.....it’s a nice downtown area...lots of restaurants with outdoor seating...one bar...with a Christmas theme and it snows 365 days a year .....If you have any questions just let me know

Okay. I am thinking of a new plan. The calling in and trying to get the Biz Plat and making the 10k in spend in 3 months is feeling a little daunting since we still have about 3k on spending on 2 other cards (SPG Lux upgrade and my Personal Gold).

I keep trying to pull the 100k Vanilla Plat offer for either myself or P2 in the next week. If I can’t get it, I apply and have him get the BBP. He has 3 cards with Amex (the 2 Delta Platinums and the SPG Lux). Hopefully get approved for the BBP have him start on that spend and then use it to refer me to the Vanilla Plat. Only at 60k but then at least we get the 15k for referral. Then we work on the spend on both through December. Just before the deal ends on the Personal Gold (I think 1/9) have P2 self refer and get the Gold.

What do you all think? I have been trying to put spend on the all the Amex’s at least the ones that are more recent within the last couple of years (not so much the Delta Platinum I have had since 2009). So hopefully no pop ups. I realize it is still just as much in spend with Amex but at least it is a little more spread out and not all at once.

Open DH's 15k referral link in an incognito window and try to pull the 75k incognito offer for the Platinum. You may have to try several times, different browsers, VPN locations if you have VPN.

I guess my hesitation is taking on that AF with the Schwab AF

1000% understand. Even though I knew that $550 was coming on the Plat, it still made me hyperventilate a bit to see it. I just got my plat less than 2 mos ago (still meeting MSR) so I need some distance from the plat to when I go for the schwab. I also want as many MR's as I can get when I go for the Schwab. I'll have 250k once my 100k from the plat hit and I'd like a few more

You can't pull the 100k MR bonus for the Platinum via incognito. It's targeted. Check your pre-qualified offers on Amex's site and CardMatch.

If you find you're not targeted for the 100k Platinum, you could generate a referral link from your Amex Gold, then toggle the other cards with referral offers until you find the Platinum. Your referral from the Gold card is worth 10k MR. Copy the url for that Platinum link and save it somewhere. Paste that referral link into an incognito window, and hopefully it pulls up the 75k Platinum offer. If not, keep trying with incognito windows/tabs, different browsers, etc. If you can pull the 75k Platinum offer from your referral link, apply, get approved, and meet MSR, you'll earn the 75k Platinum bonus and a 10k Gold referral bonus, netting you 85k MR.

I was just able to change my SW flights for after our Dec cruise to a nonstop getting in only 30 mins later for about 25 more RR per person. Weird thing is the cash price went down but the RR went up minimally.

So now I need ideas on what to do once off the ship for a couple hours. Flight isn't until 4pm in TPA. We will head straight there to ward off any unforeseen traffic delays. So something in that area would be best.

Regarding the price down RR up thing...that is likely due to the base fare vs tax/fee components on a nonstop vs w/ a stop. Even though the nonstop is cheaper, it somehow has lower taxes/segment fees than the one stop and this a higher base fare costing slightly more RR points.

I think I will have DH open it since he is only at 2/5.
He has a Hilton amex and a disney visa regular.
Plus a CIP.

Of course my purchases from this morning didn't track AGAIN so I made yet another support ticket request. Very aggravating. I think I'm the only one here having this issue.

I'm annoyed at AMEX. I was approved for the Gold card last weekend, and immediately asked them to expedite it. I kept checking the mail all week and nothing. Today I get an email saying it finally shipped. It matters since I have an AA ticket I need to buy and was really hoping to use the $100 credit to purchase it. Of course now it's going to be another week before I can book the flight, and by then it will likely have gone up in price. Ugh. This is the last plane ticket I have plans to purchase for a while.
