So I am waiting for a $2k refund to post to DH's amex plat personal card. I can't wait any longer, the bill is due today. Since it is a charge card I have to pay the $2k anyways, right. So what happens when the refund comes through? I don't see spending another $2k on the card b/c the categories aren't any good. Can I request a check or something?

Yes. Pay the $2k.

When the refund posts, you'll have a credit balance of $2k. You can request a refund for the overpayment through your Amex online account. After you select the Plat account, select "Open a Payment Dispute," then choose "I have a credit balance on my account" and click "Continue," then enter the amount of the credit balance. You'll be given the option of transferring the credit balance to another Amex card account, or having Amex send you a check for the credit balance amount to your billing address.

I would suggest you continue to put occasional spend on the Plat so DH does not end up on Amex's bad list and starts getting those welcome bonus denial pop up messages when trying to apply for more cards. The Plat earns 5x MR on flights booked directly with the airlines, and airfare and prepaid hotels (including Fine Hotels & Resorts rolling out this week into next year) with Amex Travel. I also throw some 1x spend on the Plat every now and then when I can't earn a category bonus or not working on a MSR.

My mom overpaid her SPG Amex then cancelled the card. Had to call but they just credited the amount right to her bank account. I (Mom) was asking for a check, but the agent said, oh I can just deposit it. Maybe they can do that by chat?

Just noticed my flight back from MCO in March on SW has my name misspelled. Is there an easy way to fix it? I recall someone here had a similar issue.

Thx, easy enough.

My goal was to be under 3 hours, my other 3 halfs were all over but close. Crushed it with 2:52. It was fun but I think I'm done with anything over a 15k.

Feet are happier after the pedi, just waiting for our adr at B&C. :drinking1

Unfortunately I think you have to call and talk with an agent to get the name changed...at least SW gives you an option to have them call back and you don't have to stay on hold. If the price of the flight is the same you could cancel your original reservation and rebook.

Congrats! I'm sure with the time change AND hour lost it was hard to get up so early. Beating a set time is such a thrill...happy for you :)

Just returned from crazy weekly errands--Target has a 10% off coupon for Veterans/ActiveDuty/Retirees so used that plus my RedCard for diet Dr Pepper and Excederin (note the theme?).

Used my Amex Staples offer for $100 off $1000 in disney gift cards plus double MRs and Amex Lowes offer for $50 off a $500 disney gc.

Gassed up and used my Amex spend $35 and receive 500 MR (I couldn't decide between this and the 10% off Exxon but let DH keep that card).

Since I just used about 320,000 MRs for flights happy to start restocking them ...one offer at a time.

If it is your first or last name, it is pain to do it in advance. The rep had to basically cancel my ticket and rebook. Because we had bough EBCI, she had to credit it back and add it back. DH’s middle initial was incorrect and that was an easy correction. She said the other option was to have them correct at check-in in the airport. We had an early flight and carry-ones only so that was not happening. Plus I wanted to make sure Pre-Check came through. It did change on position in EBCI queue since it looked like we’ve have added it later.

If you have paid for EBCI, please don’t cancel because the EBCI does not refund. You will lose those funds.

I didn’t buy EBCI yet. Our flight is in the afternoon both coming and going, so maybe getting to the airport early is an option. It’s my first name, probably typo from booking flights at 6 am. I can’t cancel and rebook because all the flights are way more points/$$. WGA sold out for our flight.

Last week was good news/bad news for my credit cards. Good news is I finally have a regular AmEx Plat on the way, thanks to the posts here about the increased referrals across cards and through incognito browsing. My MIL got the new Rose Gold card the last week that it was the old card and she sent me a referral link which finally gave me the 75,000 MR offer (I had come to terms with never getting the 100,000 MR offer -- I just had too many cards). So the second-best offer for me, plus a referral bonus for MIL.

The bad news (I guess with a silver lining maybe) is that I've already spent 1/5 of the MSR and I don't even have the card yet. One of our cats had surgery last week and the vet's office agreed to bill the procedure and I'll pay it when the card arrives. The poor cat had to have two teeth pulled. I feel really bad because I had been putting off taking her in for what I thought was a routine dental cleaning but it turns out cats are prone to their teeth reabsorbing which causes them a lot of pain -- the cat had two teeth with this problem and I had no idea anything was wrong.

ouch, 2 teeth doesnt sound too bad, my dog got half his teeth pulled... one thing i stress with new dog owners these days is to brush their teeth whenever u can... We started to do that late and it still ended up with half his teeth going away... he was getting old though. we transitioned from dry food to wet homemade food for him after we caught him swallowing his dry food instead.

I was able to call and add our middle names to our tickets to Aruba, since our passports have middle names. The only issue was once we did a name change, I could no longer modify the tickets online to take advantage of price drops, and there were 2 of them. When I called they said they could send me a LUV voucher for the difference but I have not received anything yet.

Unfortunately brushing the cat's teeth won't help -- the lesions are caused by the tooth being reabsorbed back into the gums, and according to the vet (and my Google research) no one knows what causes it or how to prevent it. It is apparently pretty common in cats, but until 6 years ago, I had never had a cat and had never heard of this.

I am glad it was only two teeth, although over the years she is likely to need more pulled because once a cat has this kind of lesion, they are likely to get more. But at least now I know what to look out for -- and swallowing dry food whole is also something my cat did, although I didn't make the connection between that and a possible tooth problem.
