Ok. So I just applied for a SW Biz and when I called the line it is saying 2 weeks so that's good right? Now, what to do about P2? We are new to churning so we don't have much. This is what we have...

P1 CIP CF, (and hopefully SW Biz)
P2 CIP, SW Plus, SW Premier

P2 just opened her CIP on 7/26 so we should be ready for another card app right?
Is CSR the next logical step for us?
I’m jealous you have your 2 week message. When did you apply? I’m stuck at 30 days.

Also 2 weeks is a good initial sign...I’m not sure anybody answered that question LOL!

I applied today. Initial response online was that they would be in touch but when I had a chance to call a little bit later it said 2 weeks so I was pretty happy. I do have a real business and am very much a newbie to this game so that might have something to to with it lol.

Haven't read it all but c'mon dude did you learn nothing from the Tesla guy? If we had down votes on the dis and r/churning found us we'd all have down votes all day long for oversharing and going off topic :rotfl::rotfl2:

Read all of it, wow, I see their point about not posting it. What I find crazy is that people actually do that, two new personal cards in a rolling 60 day period and 1 biz every 90. That's nuts and you really only want AA miles to do that.

Ok - I’m going to ask another question...for Spain are you using URs for hotels or flights...or both? Anything else? Do you know if it makes sense to transfer to partners for the flights vs using the 1.5? I know I’m asking a ton of questions but with your trip just 8 months away it’s time to start thinking about this stuff LOL!
I appreciate the questions and the help. I would like to use the points to defray the cost however I can. Airfare, hotel or both would be great.

Replying in case @Tikitoi already saw my response... I added an edit:

I also forget the whole "self-referral" thing with AMEX. IF you have a card you can self-refer with that might actually make more sense than what I said above, LOL!

Wow, there's so many things to remember with AMEX now when giving advice!! Targeted Offers, Incognito Offers, Support Links, Self-Refer, it's tough to keep up with it all!!!

Thanks for that. I actually did think about that as well and had confirmed from another board that I could do that :rolleyes1But thanks for mentioning as well.

I have a real business too. I got a CIP earlier this year which I had to jump through a few hoops for. I’m just anxiously, not very patiently waiting. Maybe tomorrow it will go to 2 weeks!

theres a lot of information out there that still remains hidden. Not talked about or shown. you be surprised what is out there.
This AA thing is been going on for awhile... exposing it on churning isnt a bad thing, but once a blogger takes over, thats when we have the problem...

I totally get it. I messed up on my first CIP card app earlier this year and then had to wait for a while but finally got approved on the 2nd try. Hang in there. Good luck!

I am not the person to give advice on international travel...BUT I can say from following on this thread that you want to start thinking about award flights now. Somebody like @calypso726 and numerous others can probably give good advice.

Things people might want to know to give effective advice...
  • What are your travel dates?
  • What airport(s) could you fly out of and where are you flying into?
  • Are you looking for economy seats or something better (first class, etc...)
  • How many does your travel party consist of (adults & kids/ages)?
  • Is the hotel choice flexible or will there be a specific hotel with the wedding?
  • If the hotel is a Marriott or Hilton or Hyatt, it might make sense to focus on earning points in that program instead of using URs
The 1.50x sounds nice...BUT it could make more sense to transfer your points to a travel partner and book an award flight (again not my area of expertise). If you are going to use the 1.50x you might want to get that CSR quickly and start booking some things. This may feel stressful, it almost stresses me to type it, lol - but if you ask @Haley R about planning her int'l flights, the one thing she'd emphasize is start early!

Now I'm intrigued.

The AA thing has been discussed here, just not quite to the extent of what his guide is recommending. I also wonder how many people would actually do that if a blogger did post about it vs things like plastiq or csr/csp. I would think you'd have to be way more hardcore than most people reading things like MMS or TPG are.

The thing with r/churning is it's too big and too public. A lot of people (myself included) get very upset about the spoon-feeding that goes on over there. Yet, if r/churning saw what I did on this thread, I'd certainly be accused of spoon-feeding.

For me the problem there is that it's just too big. You can't help people on an individual nature, it's very impersonal, and you have a bunch of angry people running around stirring things up. The referral seeking is terrible over there, I don't dislike "AK" the guy all the drama is directed at...but he's absolutely a referral w**re.

On our thread here, it's much more personal. We all subscribe to a no-judgement zone (my goodness could r/churning use that!)... I think we're welcoming to newbies because we can be, we have the time to assist. We can't "link to our referrals" here...we can only give good advice and hope that somebody appreciates that. AND we never give bad advice for the sake of clicks...we will advise people to look for a better public offer, better incognito offer, self refer, etc. placing their best interests before our own.

Some of the more hidden stuff that @Albort references is beyond bizarre. Some people would think that these things may "cross a line". Some of it is stuff we could probably all benefit from too. The big thing here is that once a blog picks something up...anything...the days are numbered. There are too many people in this game who take things to extremes and abuse and squeeze every ounce of value out of loopholes.

Those are my rambling thoughts on the topic.

TL/DR: I love it here on OUR thread :)

-Travel dates are most likely 6/17-6/26
-Probably BOS to Madrid and traveling at some point to Cadiz and possibly Morocco.
-Not First Class but hopefully some kind of upgrade from base Economy to give me a little more legroom (I'm 6'3")
-2 adults 8yo and 9yo
-I believe there will be rooms blocked at a hotel but we could also be flexible.
-Probably won't be staying at a Marriot, Hilton or Hyatt for this trip.

Tagging @Calfan, @Albort, @Lain, @calypso726, @gottalovepluto (sorry if I left any Int'l flight experts out)...

Can you guys give @DrFacilier some advice on how to start to figure out these flights... :)

I know the airline transfer partners are:
  • United MileagePlus Miles
  • Southwest Rapid Rewards
  • JetBlue TrueBlue
  • British Airway Avios
  • Air France Flying Blue
  • Singapore KrisFlyer
  • Virgin Atlantic Flying Club
  • Iberia Plus
  • Aer Lingus AerClub
BUT as you might imagine...I don't know anything about any of these other than Southwest, HAHAHA!

I'd start looking for flights as early as possible, especially since you want 4 of them. I've only booked business/first to Europe on points, but I needed 3 every time and it's been hard to find seats the closer we get to the trip dates. I didn't know about awardhacker.com so I just looked at the travel partners that worked with our miles or MRs and went from there. For the MRs it was a much better deal to transfer them to an airline's mileage account and book award travel that way.
