I love credit cards so much!

We are currently paying my cell phone bill with DH’s CIP. I have an iPhone 7 and it’s been giving me trouble - keeps telling me “no SIM card installed.” I have to turn it off then on a couple of times a day to fix it.

Do you think this is something that the CIP phone insurance would cover to get fixed or better yet replaced?
I would pop out the sim tray and make sure that everything is set properly. You also may just need a new sim as they can wear out after a bit. My guess is either of these two things.

I did.... there are two data points that say FU works, is that enough to say for sure it's not a CA? haven't done this before
then yes, it should work. you should be in the clear. CFU should be able to drop to $0 cash advance though, i think only the premium cards are $100.

ok..... how does one learn WHAT properties the SPG luxe TC will work at? I'm thinking the swolphin will work, (based on pp's) but not with a Marriott(starriott) gc,correct? (spg I assume no longer sells gc? if they did, would this trigger the TC?)
it sounds like it should work all around.

Eligible SPG or Marriott Rewards property purchases must be made directly with the participating SPG or Marriott Rewards property and charged to your Starwood Preferred Guest® American Express Luxury Card account for the benefit to apply. Incidental charges (including charges made at restaurants, spas and other establishments within the hotel property) must be charged to your room and paid for with your Starwood Preferred Guest® American Express Luxury Card at checkout in order to be recognized as SPG or Marriott Rewards purchases.
Visit spg.com for the list of participating SPG properties or Marriott.com for the list of participating Marriott Rewards properties.

the bold part is what i think covers it. if its listed on spg.com, should work.
my guess is if ur confusing the use of gift cards at each property is throwing u off. Seems like Marriott gift cards cant be used at an SPG hotel.

I like Steak n Shake too :D We have only gone to it a few times b/c it's not real convenient but I've been very impressed each time. I read Shake Shack is coming here as well but most new places seem to go more north of Denver and we live on the very far southwest part of the metro area. We are supposed to get InO but guessing that will be up north as well.
Five Guys is really good too but I have a kiddo with a peanut allergy so it's not a great fit for us.

So, I signed up for an Uber account so I could check out UberEats now that I have this, oh so useful, monthly Uber credit lol. Guess what place comes up the closest and with no service fee?? McD's. Yup, I can treat my boys to Happy Meals a couple of times a month now:rolleyes:
Happy Hour from 2-5p, half-priced Shakes at Steak n Shake is where it's at!

Thank you! I just started researching Dosh last night. We let our Sam's membership expire a few months ago. I'll have to look into this. I think the membership was just in my husbands name? I guess I would qualify for a new membership?
Yep, you definitely would.

Venture is 2 points/dollar, so it would be 12,000 points worth $120. I got one this year when offered 60,000 bonus, but don't intend to keep it beyond the first free year.

You are correct. I have one. I just shouldn’t post before drinking coffee. I’ll go back and edit

My wife has been approved for the CIU! 50,000 URs, here we come!

This is her second Chase biz card.

pixiedust::cheer2:party::cheer2:pixiedust:

My wife’s one year with the CIP is up this month, and we’ll be canceling her CIP to avoid the second year AF. She’ll be really glad about that. We barely put any charges on the second CIP anyway, and we’ve moved her recurring phone bill onto my CIP.

The CIU should be a good fit for her because she hates having to carry multiple cards and remembering which best to use to maximize the bonus categories on each. The CIU is a straight and easy 1.5x UR on everything. I think I can probably convince her to keep just 3 credit cards in her everyday wallet: the CSR for 3x dining and travel, the CIU for 1.5x on everything else, and the occasional new card for MSR.

I’m thinking now that if I can space it right, we should try to get my wife the CIC in a few months if the signup bonus is still good.
Hoping for good news for @KSR0330 and @Natgridenergy, too!

That's great! I'm still waiting...and calling....and waiting...

this is not a phone issue but an sim card issue. Take your phone to whatever provider u have and have them fix it. A new sim card should be the fix.

I agree about taking it in to your carrier. There's also the possibility that the sim card reader in the phone when bad which is what happened with mine when I had that message. Hopefully it's just the sim card but it could be either.

Yeah - unfortunately this thread here is mainly about leveraging CC rewards for large returns in the form of travel points (and on a smaller scale cash back). Don't take this the wrong way but we likely don't have a large amount of expertise in re-building credit. If you can get a Discover Card that butsounds like a decent plan to me...

Yes, I understand that, but in order for me to do that I have to rebuild my credit and y'all seem really smart when it comes to credit cards, so I thought I would ask, I would love to start leveraging CC rewards for large returns in the form of travel points too.... We have a trip to Disney in December, Vacation plan in July, a wedding for son in Sept, and I am planning on booking a 14 day land cruise to Alaska in 2020, I have a better job and a better handle of our finances now and thought y'all could help a girl out.. :) I am still young and have time to learn. :)

Sorry I can't help with rebuilding credit either. But I just googled best credit cards for rebuilding credit and there is a lot of information out there. I would do some research and pick one card. Once approved put a few charges on it each month and then pay the bill in full each month. Keep checking your score every month to see if it rises. Then once your score increases, start looking into the more profitable travel rewards cards.

im one of those people who kinda go skims through these thread so i dont know what u have posted. You can rebuild your credit as long as whatever issuers will give you a card. Once they start trusting you, your score will increase, ur relations will get better and you can get better cards.

i had a collections once which drops my score down to 600, i worked my way back up to 700, then 750, now its around 800.
Stick with starting cards, see if chase will give u a freedom card( this one of my first cards i got). if not, Discover It, maybe do a secured with whatever bank you choose.

hope that helps!

I don't know either however a lot of people's first card is discover, mine was before the student card was even a thing. I would do some googling but i think they may be a good way to go. I don't even know what my score would have been. I'd been 18 almost 2 months when we did thr paper app. I still only had a savings account even with working.

Once you get it all figured out you'll be able to help others here that may have the question

You are approaching things with a great attitude. It’s definitely possible to get there! I do think there are probably some better resources out there on google on this topic. I’m not sure if Chase would give you a Freedom Card yet but if they will that’s a good starting point. Otherwise I’ll concur with your original comment on using Discover as a first step.
