I love credit cards so much!

Oops... missed one of my horse's bills when switching credit cards over last week. Woke up this morning to an alert that $143 had been charged to my Hilton biz for my horse's supplements, one of which I meant to cancel. I was able to call and get the $107 one canceled. Guess it'll look good to put other $37 on my Hilton so Amex doesn't think I've abandoned it

I have a few questions:
- Is Plat Biz 100k offer still available? I thought that offer ended.
- Our DVC guy told us we had to pay balance off within 30 days to any interest. Did he misspeak and I can request that when I call him tomorrow to purchase?
- Also, should be negotiating, like asking them to throw in some one-time bonus points or gift cards or something?
- I checked my AmEx offers and have one for 50k MR on PRG for $1k spend. Is that a good offer?

Thanks! Trying to come up with our plan.

We purchased DVC direct last year and they set it up to pay over 90 days as well. We didn't even ask about it, I guess he just assumed that is what purchasers would want (I am sure he would have taken all of our money right then if we had preferred). I would second the suggestion above to ask about that specifically. No negotiating on direct purchases, at least not that I have ever heard.

Can someone tell me if buying a Disney park hopper is a good use of my Chase Ultimate Rewards? And also, is it correct that I have to call Chase's cruise department to do so? TIA!

I wouldn't say it's bad if that's what you want to do with them. I believe a few people have reported doing the same lately so you'd be in good company. It's all what's best for you.

You have two options now to purchase. If you have a Freedom flavor card you can buy them from the new UR portal powered by Expedia. You'll have the same options as if you bought from the Expedia site including promo days or discounts. Or if you find the ones you want are a better value using a Sapphire or Ink card for the increased point value, then you want to call the travel line and ask for cruise department to buy directly from Disney. ( And ask to buy them from Disney)

Thanks! Instant approval on the PRG! That was too easy and i’m guessing it is charge card since there is no pre-set limit? So strange! Now to go read about this card.

Congratulations!

- The 50k MR portion of the PRG is pretty easily pulled via incognito, but usually comes with a $2k MSR. $1k is really good! The PRG comes with first year AF waived; earns 2x MR on gas, groceries, and restaurants; and has a $100 airline fee credit that can be used on gift cards for AA, Delta, and SW.

- [ETA] The Plats and PRG/BGR, Green/Biz Green are charge cards, so technically they don't have a preset spending limit, but they do have a soft limit, and they have to be paid off every month. Amex has a tool on its site that lets you check the spending power on your charge card, but I've read mixed DPs about that leading to a financial review. The better thing to do, if you're planning on putting a large charge on a card, is to call Amex customer service and let them know you plan to put a large charge on the card and if that would be ok.

- There was a successful DP around two weeks ago about getting the 100k MR/$10k MSR Biz Plat offer when calling into a direct line for an Amex rep at the [Phoenix?] call center. Let us know if you're interested in calling in.

My CSP statement closed yesterday. I was hoping to see the 50,000 URs in my account this morning. Nope. Pending for next month? Nope. It's been almost a month since I met the MSR.

I’ve been checking DH’s CIP every day, hoping to see that 80,000 UR pending. A whole month since meeting the MSR just seems totally bizarre. I thought that by meeting MSR on the day our first statement closed, there’d be no way we’d miss getting it at the second statement. Guess I’ll lower my expectations even lower than what they already were. :sad2:

Are you still on vacation? If so you might just want to put it all on hold until you get back. DVC is not going anywhere and neither are credit card offers. :)

If you are worried about interest (do not have cash in hand right now) I would stay away from charge cards. You might want to look into the 0% APR options we have been talking about lately.

No negotiating with DVC but if you do buy sometimes they will help you schedule a welcome home visit. They did that for me and our January trip when availability was not showing.

@hsmamato2

My $300 SPG Lux credit finally posted this afternoon! I was starting to wonder since the $60 posted yesterday. Now, I have to remember I have a $300 gift card to spend next time I'm in or staying at Marriott! Was trying to do an overnighter this week/weekend but the rain is just not stopping for long around here. Hopefully it will clear up soon.
Awesome:thumbsup2

wondering for my own purposes.... the SPG Lux- who upgraded, and what offer did you get? (I'm still:mad: about my big offer changing to 15k/1k) but still considering the lower spend switch and ALSO reaffirming..... the $300 TC is user year, not calendar year, correct?
-ETA- reposting my previous post on this subject too- triple checking to be sure I'm getting this all correct.... so UG now, get $300 TC- on Nov 21, pay $450 AF,get another $300 TC PLUS 50k night(?) for one year use-*********************************
BEST time to upgrade is a month or two ahead of anniversary close date...pay the prorated AF, get $ back for AF on old card(?) then spend that $300 credit BEFORE the original card anniversary end date (in 1 or 2 months) -wait for the date to pass, should get a 50k nite dropped in acct- THEN $300 credit resets on that date also so another $300 to use- plus another 50k Nite on the next years ann. date (along with the full $450 AF) which ends up being a great deal IF I can use that $300 credit on gift cards from a front desk purchase at a nearby Marriott(right?) AND I need to use that first 50k nite within the first year too...(right?) so essentially If I could do this and keep the card for a year it would pay me $150 plus 2 free nights to upgrade with the offer....(right?)

Trying to decide when DH should go for CIP. He is 4/24 last Chase was Marriott premier 7/13/18. His other Chase cards are FU (3x promo)5/31/18 and CSP 6/17. His credit score has taken a slight hit (792) I think from a recent HELOC and carrying a balance on the FU with 0%. I’m think December at the earliest?
Would prob be safe to get an amex biz (thinking Hilton) in meantime to occupy if we are looking for an MSR?

That seems like a good plan. The amex may not even be a HP and def won't count against 5/24. Also, it puts 5 months between chase apps. Go for it!

Gosh this is just crazy.
Is it with only UR cards or Co branded cards too?
It could really mess some people up with CP. I just met my spend on the biz and need to app for a personal next, but no knowing when the points will post is rather risky at this point. Likely they'd post before 12/31 if I hit the spend quickly, but I'm not sure that is guaranteed until we figure out what is going on.

This availability issue is one of my major hang-ups with DVC. If I owned I would be super annoyed to see dvc rooms listed for the public to reserve on cash when there was no availability for me as an owner. It seems like the only way dvc works well is if you are willing to plan waaayyyy ahead. I used to be into that, but now that the kids are older we just can't do that. Sports schedules and school schedules just aren't announced that far in advance.

Good question - I'm waiting on bonuses from both CSP and CIP. I was just approved for the United Explorer Card, but don't have it in hand yet. Hopefully I won't be a DP on cobranded cards - really hope they sort this out before I meet that MSR! For me at this point its really just an annoyance, but I would be flipping out if I was trying to make the CP work. There was a funky glitch last year and people that met the spend on a particular day (like 1/2/18 or so) took forever to get their points - forever being like a 3 or 4 week delay, and I was losing it! We now have a new definition of forever, and I'm concerned at how long that might be.

Its because of RCI exchanges when members book out side of Disney on their points.

Cobrands too. Unfortunately SW was mentioned. I'm kicking myself for not saving the post where someone listed out all the cards that seem to be affected. The new search option on r/churning leaves a bit to be desired in my limited use so far.

But since Chase is saying the usual 6-8 weeks language it should be posting on the 2nd statement after meeting it worse case, I should think.

We’ve owned since 2001...has worked well for us since we always went during the summer when the kids were in school and travel hockey season hadn’t started yet.
You do have to book early now...we own at BWV and book our food and wine trips 11 months out first day. With the economy doing well there is a lot more competition for rooms at 7 months...back in 2007 etc it was way easier to book a last minute...lol with in 7 months trip

As far as cash availability....it’s a different in inventory of rooms than points...Per FL law Disney has to own 5% I think of inventory..so that’s never available to book with points...and since DVC owners can use points to book a Disney Cruise or trade into RCI...all thoses points have to be converted to cash and booked as cash stays

But if you can’t plan 7-11 months out its probably not worth buying

Waiting here as well for CIP bonus points to post...met the spend on 8/15...card closed 8/19...still no pending points
