Like @pillow said, it is just an inexpensive way to meet MSR or points. I ended putting ours in a 529 plan for our state that allowed a write-off on state taxes for the first few thousand and then paying her tuition. It takes some time to load into the Gift of College account, then transfer to a 529 plan, but it was worth it for the tax write-off and points. It is also much cheaper than paying the fee to put the tuition on a credit card. I am hopeful they are in stores soon to take advantage this year!

Do you need to register the MCGC first? Could that be the problem? Is there a RAT team concern with Amex MSR and gift cards (makes me nervous).

I'm wondering if Sam's Club sells MCGC. If so, you could stack it with the Dosh promo for 10% back. Might have to run in there this afternoon and see what they carry.

To use them in Masterpass, you do need to register the MCGC. I did register them, but the variable load MCGCs point you to mygiftcardsite .com vs. the fixed denomination MCGCs use prepaidgiftbalance .com. Both cards are issued by US Bank.

When I first tried the Masterpass promo on Plastiq, I didn't do it in incognito, and my Masterpass is also linked (?) to Citi Pay, so I'm wondering if that's it? I haven't had a problem with the fixed denomination MCGCs by adding the MCGCs to Masterpass all through Plastiq in incognito mode.

Most grocery stores don't send L3 data, so I'm not concerned. (Back in my n00b days, I did buy a $500 VGC from Whole Foods and ended up with a $505.95 charge that didn't count towards a[n Amex] spending bonus.) I mix in regular groceries with my purchases so they're not $xx5.95 or some other telltale number. For all Amex knows, I'm feeding a big family or catering a lunch meeting for my "business."

I contacted chase today (since no points are showing....grrrr). They said “your statement ends September 10”. I messaged back saying my account says September 3. Doesn’t make any sense but I’m positive it is because we tried moving the date. Won’t make that mistake again.

If you have a way to liquidate a straight up MC/Visa, then there really isn't a difference. I struggle with a way to do that though since money orders at Walmart are dead where I live.

12 pieces of mail and a package, all in limbo. So annoying!! Out post office is the worst. We have had many times where we get someone elses mail, and not ours. I have pulled ours out of our neighbors box, and other times it's nowhere to be found, while we have someone elses.

We have similar issues with our mail...keep getting random pieces despite putting our last name on the inside of the box (ie PLEASE don't deliver things from the owners who sold us the house 2 1/2 years ago!). I am getting to know our neighbors a bit better from delivering their mail to them though

I was impressed yesterday with the rain that they delivered, since today is actually worse (harder rain and flooding), we'll see if they live up to their motto...

I hadn't considered snowstorms I'm more worried about flooding of the post office, since flooding happens a lot here and will continue since the ground is saturated. Since nothing exciting is pending I'm just hoping everyone stays safe.

All of these reports of “Delayed Pending URs” is crazy! I wonder what is going on with Chase here...is it a system problem or is it intentional. We certainly aren’t going to get a clear answer from calling or an SM either. @PolyRob - I think you hit your MSRs on your double dip pretty quick. What’s your status on pending URs - see anything yet?

For those asking - all evidence I’ve seen is your base and category earnings are showing up. However the bonus is not. It’s a pretty recent issue so I don’t think I’ve seen anybody with 2 statement closes and still no points...

We are seeing current points, pending points (from our spend), but nothing regarding bonus points. MSR was met.

I can confirm that support link points posted yesterday afternoon for the week.

Also - I keep saying this but I'll say it again If you use a DISchurners link, PLEASE PM that person so they know. Obviously it's great that people are using the links, it's even nicer to be able to say thank you BUT as long as we're using each other's links, that's probably what matters most, LOL!

This is us too. We are a 'training route' so if they are not training anyone, and are short on time, they just don't deliver our mail. It's kind of crazy that it's ok to do that but I guess in an age when so much is done electronically, they figure it's fine.

Also, because we are a training route, we get everyone in the neighborhood's mail, except our own, it seems lol! We always have different people and I see them out there in their truck at sometimes 9pm, with their headlamp, sifting through their bundles. I feel bad for them but I'm always worried we won't get our mail...mostly worry about GC's and new CC's...Back on the old GC thread, I had $900 worth of GC's get delivered to the wrong address. It was a couple of days until my neighbors brought them over to me. I was FREAKING out!!

Yeah, I hit yes and picked like $20 on a $500 card and it processes for a bit but then gets declined. No harm in trying, the cards packaging also says they can’t be used at ATMs or to get cashback, but maybe there is a card that works somewhere. I doubt it tho. I have only tried Bancorp and Metabank.

Amex concierge was able to secure California Grill for me an hour before the fireworks! This trip was last minute and I wasn’t able to get two reservations that I wanted so I reached out to Amex a few weeks ago and they were now able to secure both my requests.

I wouldn't be concerned about the missing bonus points yet. Hopefully this issue resolves itself soon.

Further Data Points on Delayed Chase Bonuses:

I've been reviewing numerous DPs discussed today on r/churning related to the Chase delayed bonus issue. I'm seeing comments related to numerous UR cards (both personal and business) as well as Marriott, Southwest, United. This is a widespread delay of bonuses posting.

With regards to UR cards, it's easy to see if your bonus will post as it will show up in the "Earnings on Next Statement" (aka what we refer to as "pending"). On other cards, you don't have this luxury so you just wait for the statement to close and hope your points are there. IF you see your points "pending" on the Chase Ultimate Rewards site - you are NOT affected by this issue.

However, for those that ARE affected - be aware that you are decidedly not alone. This is affecting both churners and non-churners. This is not typical. IF you contact Chase they will basically say one of a couple of canned phrases:
- Bonus points will appear in 1-2 statements after meeting MSR
- Bonus points will appear in 4-6 weeks after meeting MSR

As others have said here earlier today, I would not panic or be worried. Given the widespread nature, this is likely some sort of system issue or intentional delay on the part of Chase (although I personally doubt that one). It does not appear to be targeted at churners or double dippers or anything like that. Hopefully it is resolved soon! Obviously I feel for those who were hoping to get these points and book something with them, that would be very frustrating.

EDIT: if you want to read some of this go to the DQ and DD threads on r/churning for today and just search the word bonus. You'll see much discussion on the topic (moreso in the DQ).

Thanks for the update. I hd been thinking it was just the UR points delayed. My Marriott statement closed Saturday Aug 11 and my 100,000 bonus hit Monday the 13th. However, my last charge toward the MSR occurred just after the July close, so it was in there for 30 days.

Got DHs CSR just before leaving on a trip to Canada (thanks goodness for expedited delivery!) and are over halfway to the MSR. Loving the exchange rate here.

So informed delivery yesterday tells me my Hilton BIZ is being delivered, finally, need to pay for some things. Guess what? We get no mail yesterday, they just didn't show up in our entire neighborhood. This morning I call and they tell me, some routes didn't get done yesterday, too much mail, and not enough drivers. UGH.

That sucks, big time. At least reading everyone's replies I'm not alone either. We randomly won't get mail for a day or two and then magically have a full box the next day. We also have some fair weather drivers, but I chalked that up to we have our box on the house and not at the street so they have get out of the trucks to deliver. If it's pouring I don't expect mail unless they have a "last mile" package to deliver too. At least with informed delivery I have some proof, if the same mail shows up in the email a couple days in a row, I know it was just sitting in someone truck instead of sitting at the neighbors. Last Friday we got every single piece of mail for the house next to us, it reminded me that they run their own business and since they got the Disney card offer ($200/$50) in this batch I almost wanted to ask if they picked up a lot of cards for the business... if they haven't I'd be happy to tell you about a few

The CSR has the Visa infinite concierge. I haven’t used them but I’d be interested to hear if you have any success with them.
