I love credit cards so much!

We did it last December...My wife wanted to just ride the rides...I wanted to see the stuff that we had just paid to get in and see. She won. It will be my way next time. Spent two nights and still had fun!
Was is worth it? We usually just go for the rides.

Go with the mindset to watch the parade(s) and see the shows/characters that are special to the parties. It will be worth it to see it once I say. I want to do it again and see all the stuff we missed. The snow on Main St USA was very cool. If you can do, go for it. If you don't like it, at least you can say you tried it. I didn't think it was too busy for the time of year (I think we went Dec 12th) and it was nice to have that little nip in the air when the sun went down.

I don't know. I get the $300 Chase business checking flyers in the mail all the time. I'm not really into bank bonuses, but if this is going to be an issue then it might be a good time to start.

I get the mailers too for that promo and I am almost positive you have to go in to open a business checking. I'll read up on DoC to see how easy it looks to be. My Chase always has the same lady working...she knows I only have a 'business'...she was the one who told me I had a 'business', so maybe it would be painless.

The character lines are very long so be aware of that if any of those are important. The ride lines are great, especially during the first parade...plan to watch the second parade and ride the rides during the first. But some rides like space and SDMT never got low lines like we have seen at RD so we didn't do either of those. And of course, the park is just swamped from 4-7 since everyone can either still be there from their day spent there or can already enter for the party (unless that has changed..?). We went to a early/mid Dec party (dec 9, i think).

That's why we need more options here. I would take a restaurant even if I don't use the entire credit. The food options aren't that great though which is probably part of the appeal. Clearly there's too many PP people and not enough options if that happened. I don't fly enough to get status for AS to use their lounge.

Amex lounge was nice... was smaller than i expected. We did eat our Dinner there though hahaha...

Back from Alaska cruise on DCL. It was fabulous! Was a little concerned since we like DCL’s bigger ships, but the Wonder is beautiful. Except for the glacier excursion, we booked our excursions independently and they were fabulous. Weather was good except for rain in Juneau but we moved whale watching up and skipped Mendenhall to get on the water before it got bad.

Now to figure out what’s next. Thinking about the Mediterranean on dcl but my 13 year old son (whose gift is complaining) would probably not enjoy it. Maybe it’s time for separate trips with the kids???

ETA: flights from Virginia to YVR were tough. We left YVR at 11 pm PT last night and got home around 3 pm ET. Did try priority pass lounges in Vancouver and Toronto. Both were nice but the one in the domestic terminal in Vancouver was much nicer than the one in the US-bound terminal in Toronto.
Yay! Love your new pic! Counting down our days-only 271 days. Lol. When you have time, I’d love to hear which excursions you booked. Planning on booking our thru Chase portal.

If you are looking for the week of 3/16-23, I think you are safe to sleep in until noon.

OK that's not true, but I wouldn't mind a little less competition for my flights. It seems like Southwest flights are usually loaded by 6:30am eastern time, sometimes as early as 6am, sometimes not until later. One year they didn't get loaded until almost 10am.
:P Looking for 3/23-3/30. Not getting up at 5 though. :rolleyes2

partly, it's what got me thinking about it again. I've been looking on and off as I try to figure out how to make my itty bit of MR points work for us. I've seen reports where it sounds like it was backdated like most places do, but it's hard to verify the source (i.e. not talking out their butt and didn't know what they were talking about) as I find other reports that say the opposite.

One of our Dis'ers reported this the other day: I love credit cards so much!

Corroborates that AMEX dates AU as of the day you add the AU.

I thought I saw something on here! That's why I figured I'd ask the fine folks here with trustworthy DP's. :) This bites. :(

I just did this. My membership date on Amex back dated to date of old card. My CK CRs don’t have anything in the “opened date” spot yet. I am gonna see if it updates when a statement closes, but so far just blank. I’m good with blank I guess. Not that big a deal either way for me.

Interesting. The fairly trustworthy sources I did find said AmEx stopped backdating the membership year a couple years ago (around the time they stopped reporting membership year as the opened date for every card) but also interesting there's no opened date at all. I'd be ok with that too if it doesn't goof up 5/24. Guess I'll stay tuned.

Reporting on delivery of my Hilton biz. Approved Friday and chose to get immediate account number...site timed out with an error. Let it ride but called today to ask about the card and mentioned the immediate account number didn't work (hoping to get consolation points/credit). No dice on consolation but the agent did say that my card hadn't even shipped yet! So he said it will be expedited and I should receive Thursday. Works for me but I'm wondering what would have happened if I hadn't called!

Honestly that's why I love PDX. It is so awesome having that credit! I feel out of place in a lounge, especially with my kids. Like all the business folk are looking at us and thinking "you don't belong here". I'm not here to drink a martini and make a business call. I just wanna stroll in and score some snack loot. The cheese plates to go at Capers Market in PDX are life changing.

Wait, what? My personal checking is my pay from account on CIP. That would be a big pain.

I think existing pay from accounts are fine. There seems to be an issue with setting up new “pay from” accounts using Chase personal checking for Chase biz cards.

Hopefully this is true since I did do the upgrade. I can't remember who else was thinking about it, but could be another reason to upgrade instead of get a completely new card.

To celebrate the new SPG Lux (and also because last weekend the girls fought and were crabby) we are taking the long weekend and going on a road trip! Just two nights at the TownePlace Suites. But should be fun. I actually ran airfare but could not justify the expense. But at least on a road trip the gas can be also used to meet my MSR's.

My goal has been to stay under 5/24, but with the new 24 month restriction I think I will get all the chase cards I want and then abandon that plan. With that in mind I am trying to come up with a new plan - what do you think?

Right now I am 3/24
*1 CSR - 3/17 (PCd to CFU 3/18)
CIP - 8/17
*2 Marriott personal 2/18
*3 Venture - 2/18
SPG Biz - 3/18
Delta Biz - 4/18
CIC - 7/18

My plan:
CIU - 10/18
*4 CF - 1/18
*5 Hyatt 4/19

DH is also 3/24
*1 CSR 7/17
CIP 10/17
SPG Biz - 3/18
*2 Venture - 2/18
*3 SPG personal 4/18

He was also denied in June for the CIC for not using his CIP so I'm hoping if I close that card after the anniversary date they will approve him for another business card? I applied for the CIP with his EIN so I could apply as a sole proprietor if that would help.

Plan for DH:
*4 CF - now
CIU - 12/18
CIC - 3/19
*4 Hyatt 6/19

I keep going back and forth on squeezing Southwest Personal and Biz in on the December and January and getting two CPs (we are a family of 5) and pushing everything else back, but we really don't fly Southwest so I think I will just abandon that idea. Any advice appreciated!

Hello,
I've read through a bunch of this thread and other sites, then decided to take the plunge with a few Chase cards to beat what I receive from the Disney 1% Visa.
I was aware of the Chase 5/24 rule, but I only had the Disney Visa. I applied online for the Freedom unlimited and was accepted immediately. I then went for the Ink Business Cash CC and I received a message that it would take 30 days. I then went for the Freedom and was told it would take 7 days.
I just received a rejection letter for the Freedom saying I had too many credit requests or open accounts with us.
What did I do wrong?
I make a solid income at a regular job and have never been rejected for a CC.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thank you

When did you apply for the cards? It sounds like all on one day, which is the problem. For a Chase biz card you can't have had an app within the last 30 days, so your CFU is the reason. Hard to say with the other without knowing the dates.

Is the Disney card the only other credit card you have? Chase looks at all cards, not just what you have gotten with them. So if you were at 4/24 when you got the CFU it'll deny you for the next because you would have been 6/24. We really need more detailed information about it all to assist.

Thanks for the reply. I applied for all 3 in the same day, in the span of an hour, about a week ago.
I have the Disney card, which I've had for at least 2 years. I have a credit union CC that I've had for 1.5 years, and a Kohl's charge I've had for more than 10 years. Those 3 before being accepted for the CFU.
