I love credit cards so much!

Well I was thinking it was some fantastic offer. I guess that is ok but I was (probably unrealistically) thinking it was a reduction in cost per point. Thanks.

I will pm you tomorrow on my whole DVC saga and some of my thoughts. I will say though that the yes you could just downgrade or cancel the Disney Visa if you weren’t using it.
That would’ve been wonderful! It’s not a great savings in the grand scheme of things, just enough to get me thinking about taking the bait lol.

Thanks! I always appreciate hearing other people’s thoughts when I’m going back and forth over decisions! There’s always someone that comes up with something logical that never occurred to me that is so important to the final decision lol.

So much to think about! I was thinking if I can put a decent amount on a Disney visa and have that much time to pay it off, I can earn the rewards plus the sign on bonus and put that towards annual dues. AND if I sign up for the Discover It card I was looking at, I could put some on that card too and have 0% apr for 14 months. Depending on how much that is, that could be a decent savings.

I noticed the offer was already posted, so I won’t repost it. I’m a newbie too, so for me it’s just easier to go direct for comfort purposes.

I do have a CSP; so far I’ve only used the URs to transfer to SW for RR points. I was just thinking it would be nice to earn rewards I could put right to annual dues, have the 6 months 0% (which will mess with me mentally because I never leave balances on cards lol), plus have the park perks for having the Disney card. The only issue would be if I would even use the card enough after the initial purchase to earn enough rewards for that. I guess I could just cancel it after the year or downgrade it to the no fee card if I wasn’t using it, right?

I’m not comfortable applying for a business card, and I don’t do anything that could even qualify as a “business”. :worried: Otherwise the 15 months would allow me to put more on it with more time to pay it off!

1300 points is very nice!! I only have 100 points, which is why I’m considering an add on. I’m definitely going to end up adding on eventually because 100 won’t get me very far. A part of me says if I’m going to add on anyway, why not do it now instead of waiting until later when it’s more expensive. Another part of me says it’ll probably be more expensive anyway because I’ll have to end up financing some of it, so maybe I should just wait until I have more $ saved up...

I'll just say that I know people that don't do anything that qualifies as a "business." These people then have the thought about how selling on Ebay qualifies as a business. Then they contemplate the idea for themselves and think it might be a good idea to start a business and of course they will need a business card. They imagine that they might generate $1,000 in revenue in a year. So, they apply for a business card as a sole proprietor using their social security number since they don't have or need an EIN, use their household income as the income number. Now, whether or not they ever actually get around to listing something to sell on Ebay is irrelevant after they receive their business card. People change their mind all the time and many businesses and "businesses" never make it off drawing board. It happens.

My go to for annual dues is the Ink card since it gets 5x UR per dollar at office supply stores. My dues on 1300 points are $8,000+ so that is 40,000 UR every year on just annual dues. Sometimes, I will use an Amex offer to purchase Disney GCs over the Ink if it will save me 10% or better. Sometimes, I will wait until the end of the year to apply for a new card and pay part of my dues with it to hit the MSR. I did that earlier this year for the Hilton Aspire.

The CSR has the $300 travel credit and annual dues code as travel. The first year I had the CSR I paid $300 of my annual dues with it and the amount was credited immediately. I guess it depends on how much the purchase is going to be.

A 125 point add on at Copper Creek would be $22,000 with the current promo. On the Disney Premier Visa you would get the $200 statement and 22,000 points worth $220 dollars so that's $440 towards your next Disney vacation.

If you paid with the CSP your $22,000 purchase would earn you 44,000 UR which you can transfer to SW or purchase travel worth $550.

If you upgraded your CSP to a CSR, you'd get the $300 statement credit for your $22,000 DVC purchase which would earn you 66,000 UR worth $990.

Granted only the Disney Visa will give you the 6 month 0% option and the CSR and CSP will not.

I joke to my DH that I want to move to an ES.
When our house had a burst pipe we lived at ES while they redid our floors. We had 2 connecting suites. It was lovely going down for a hot breakfast then driving the kids to school. So relaxing. I was able to pick up the mess in our rooms in 15 mins vs my house that I just cannot keep clean. Then we'd go downstairs for dinner at the restaurant and a swim. I felt like those twins on the old Disney show "suite life" or something like that. hahahaha

I agree - we've never stayed at one in your circumstances, but when we come back from vacations when we stayed in a suite hotel or condo, I realize how much easier it is to not have all of the unnecessary things we have around. So much more relaxing and easier to keep neat!

I know this ship has sailed, but I really want to thank @Lain again for the tip about the 100K/10K AmEx Business Platinum offer, and about self referring for the Business Gold and Business Green. I also want to thank those of you who provided supporting info about the offer. I generally have fear about calling in for credit card applications, but it helped knowing that the process had been so painless for all of you.

I am about a month away from cancelling personal platinums for myself and for my wife. Late last week we both obtained Blue Business Plus cards to hold our MR points, not knowing about the business platinum deal. My oldest daughter is starting her first year of college in 2 weeks. Her university allows tuition/housing payments by credit card, incuding AmEx, for a flat $3 fee. I finally drop under 5/24 around 8/21, and my plan had been to apply for CIP, then pay her tuition via Plastiq, but the timing was going to be really tight. The AmEx Business Platinum + Business Gold + Business Green deal couldn't have come at a better time for me. It seems really crazy, but my wife and I have been approved for a total of 6 AmEx business charge cards (2 Blue, 2 Green, 1 Gold, 1 Platinum) in the last 7 days, and almost all the MSR will be completed by the end of the month. I haven't had a chance to total up the MR's earned, but it's a heckovalot, probably over 200,000. Thank you.

I am too. I'm just torn now on if I skip Marriott, what if CIC is turned down either for CIP being too new still or getting it yet messing up my SW CP plans...

I understand this dilemma well lol! If I go for the Marriott biz now, am I locking myself out of the CIC, since I do have the CIP already and plan to keep. I value UR's much higher than Marriott so maybe I just try for that once I'm under 5/24 (10/18)??? Dh has a CIP and a CIC. We will close his CIP this fall when he hits a year but will we have enough time to get in a SW biz for him (and personal)...do we even want to try for CP as much as I thought we did?? It would be great but with our family size, we just don't fly more than once a year so CP isn't the end-all-be-all that I want it to be :D What to do, what to do?

It was super easy once I realized I first had to add the card and then transfer to the other card. I thought I could just transfer the amount. It was just my bad. The federal agency’s systems that I work for are much worse. Many of the systems aren’t even web-based.

Thanks again -- I'll be sure to add and then transfer (and keep all of the old cards, just in case).

We lived in a Marriott Townplace for 3.5 mos while in between houses. It was teeny and we had a baby and homeschooling. It was NUTS! But I loved the breakfast, the workout room, the pool, the occasional dinners they did, the nightly cookies and the all-day coffee:love: Yep, we got quite spoiled!

I can't keep my house clean either. I've all but quit trying.

Thank you for ALL of this! Believe it or not, I think you’ve helped me decide to wait on the add on lol. Looking at all the numbers, I think I’m better off saving up for it, even if it means I’ll be paying more later. At that point I’ll probably be in a better position and ready to open up some new cards for the rewards. Right now my goal is to do my first ABD with the Japan trip! It’ll probably be a few years out, but I think I want to keep my savings focus on that right now.

I really appreciate all of the information you put out there for me! I kinda wrote off the business cards, but your explanation makes a lot of sense. I don’t know if I’ll ever feel comfortable enough with it to actually try, but you made it seem more attainable for sure! It sounds like I need to put some more thought into what my next card(s) will be. I have to look into the bonuses and what I realistically think I can use the rewards and/or cash back for to make them worth it!

Thanks again!

It resets after it posts. For me it was about 3 days. I registered 3 different CP cards with 3 different logins. Not sure if that was necessary

Thank you! And oh, I forgot, my dh has a CF...I need to get him to download the app too so we can do his also!

This is why I bounce things off this group :)

After writing it out like that, it felt like a lot.

Yup, definitely feels too close like that!

CP has been big for us, so I definitely want it again. I worry about being denied for another biz card too, it's why I skipped the Marriott biz for both of us always. Prioritizing other biz cards like CIP, etc.

See, moving CIC to the end didnt cross my mind! I think I like this, if I really decide I cant live without a CIC I could change his CIP after referring me to my own in Oct. And true SW isnt a true double dip. I think I just keep thinking that way because of how they work together.

CP has been huge. Just added it up quick.. we've earned just over 133k RRs from cc spending/sign up, anniversary points, and 1 flight OOP... have 7800 left right now, and have gotten about $4300 in value. And I dont care what reddit says about overvaluing CP, we would have either paid this OOP or not gone :P OOP for trips we would have actually done would have ran us $1700.

I think the only reason for Marriott over CIC is to make sure I can still get CP.

Boooooo. Hope you get a better rep. I opened my card 6/26/16 and last year the AF posted 7/20.. I moved my closing date back so the current statement will close Aug 3rd. Someone was advised to do that by a phone rep to trigger the freenight, so I figured what did I have to lose...
I don’t think moving your statement date will do anything unfortunately (although I wish you luck!). My AF posted 7/24 (the day my statement closed) and the rep specifically cited 7/7 as my anniversary date.

I’m annoyed but I was gonna cancel the card anyways (even with the free night). And I didn’t put another dollar on this card after earning the signup bonus...and I maxed out referrals on it...

So yeah I’m basically a spoiled brat, haha! I just wanted a free night before I cancelled (like I even need a free Marriott night anyways, LOL!!)

So if it’s pending right now do you think it will go through in time?
.

Meybe? There's a couple ways it seems this could go in my limited experience here. Let's see if we can narrow it down.

First, I checked back in the thread and you were approved for the card Jul 4, so it does seem plausible that your statement close is 8/3. If that's the case and the charge isn't posted yet might be too close. I know the bonus didn't show up in the UR portal as pending for the next statement until 3-4 business days after it fully posted. For example, on one card my last charge was 6/8, it fully posted 6/10 and I think on that one the pending points showed the bonus on 6/13. However, this would be a good DP to find out if you need to see it pending in the UR portal first before actually getting it on the statement. I thought I'd be that DP last month, but I got 6 weeks on my first statement for unknown reasons. So the charge I thought was only a few days before closing turned out to be nearly 10 days before it actually closed and gave plenty of time for the bonus to post.

On that score, I found that the UR portal was a good indicator of when a charge was going to post. The points were added to the total pending amount the night before I saw the transaction go from pending to posted. (for instance, if I had a pending charge of $10 from 7/1, if on 7/2 it's still pending but my points earned on next statement total was up by 10 points, then on 7/3 I'd see that the charge posted) Also on the business cards it seems like the transaction can just disappears for the day when it posts. (same example, transaction date 7/1 and shows pending, 7/2 transaction disappears, 7/3 transaction shows as posted)

Second, I'd check how your DH's first statement was timed. You may be able to extrapolate how yours may behave. Given that you were approved in the beginning of the month I would expect that you'd have a pretty normal cycle, but again, I'm still not sure why my first statement was that long. I'd hate for you to get hopes up and find out they did something weird too and it's not going to post for several weeks anyway.

So, even though we got a new offer on the spg biz, there are still no support links, right?

Funny, didn't even think to check today :) As of right now, that's correct :( Web says that card is not eligible for the campaign and the refer option is missing in the app.

I guess I can’t do much but wait and see. I’ll report back when I found out what happens.

Ooh, does the staples work on GC's too? I read the exclusions and it said no GC's but was going to ask here.
it says it is excluded, but it worked at walgreens. Its one of those things where u should abuse it too much haha.

So, even though we got a new offer on the spg biz, there are still no support links, right?
i checked this morning to see if i can generate a link. couldnt.
