I love credit cards so much!

Womp, womp, I was denied the CIP for a second time. This time it stated "Insufficient business revenue" and "Business too new." I am fine with it, as I wasn't comfortable stretching the truth and it is what it is!

On to plan B.. I have been working on removing the AU cards from my credit report. Two were Chase, one was Citi. Chase said they could remove one quickly, but the other would take longer since the account was already closed. Citi is making me fax in a request to their credit dispute bureau so I am guessing that is going to take a little time too. Sure enough, checking my credit report now, I see that Chase has removed the 1, but the other is still there.

So that means I am currently at 5/24. I am torn on what to do. I really want to get into the Chase game ultimately, but my short term goal is also to earn Southwest flights for my Feb trip to Disney and was planning on meeting my MSR by booking my DVC rental this month and buying furniture for my house. I guess my options are look at a non-Chase card (Venture? AMEX?) or hope that these AU accounts disappear quickly and then go for the CSR? That is the card I want the most.. I don't know if I can commit to 10K for a double-dip without putting the DVC rental on there, which is out of the question for the reasons Lain outlined above (need to book within 30 days of my CIP application.) But I could maybe do the CU or CFU along with the CSR? And try for a business card in a few months when I have had more time to build my business?

What do you guys recommend? Thank you SO much for your advice. I would really be lost without you.
I'm going to 2nd @Lain here. When my father was denied his CIC in Jan recon said too many cards and he had hadn't had his Chase business card long enough (CIP in Aug was his first), the letter said something similar, he eventually found it was a credit limit issue and Chase lending was willing to shuffle some credit limit from his cip to open his cic. He was at 90k with Chase at the time. (Yikes! I know! If I knew then what I know now... suffice it to say after egregious amounts of talking I've gotten him to drop that to 65k for CIP#2 which he'll go for any day now. It's recommended to be no higher than 60-70k when you apply no matter what your income fyi.)

DD19 and I are doing the same but first weekend of august. We are doing Fri early am-Sun late pm though. Can't wait!
I have Thursday and Friday off next week so I told Dh we should go. I did not think he would agree but he’s just as excited as me! AND I just got my CIP in the mail today so guess what we’re using to pay for this trip!!

I went through ebates when I ordered the two $300 visa giftcards with the Amex staples order and I just earned 2% back on the purchase through ebates. I clicked the link that said 2% back on school supplies.

Let us know if it actually credits or gets clawed back.

yeah... that kinda happens when ur playing this game... u want every card. :P
Ain’t that the truth. I just rec’d my CitiBiz AA card today and have until 8/31 to upgrade my Hilton Amex. And then DH needs the CIC. Oh wait, I haven’t finished the last few hundred on my SPG Amex retention offer.

I just did the online Barclays application status for DH and it says no applications with his information have been received in the last 90 days... hopefully it just isn't updated since I just applied like two hours ago. Yes... I'm impatient lol.

I got this -- I'll post my "offer code" on the reddit page.

Replying to my own post to say that Bank of America apparently regards this deal as some sort of state secret -- I tried to generate a referral code, and the information page says "Within 7-14 days, your eligible referrals will receive their own offer code . . . "

Credit Card Benefit FAIL - DH called me because he is applying to Global Entry for both of us. He goes through everything, then asks if he should pay for my application with my card or his. I say, oh, mine, you only get the benefit once per year. He puts in my CSR info. Then I realize - I have his CSR in my wallet. So I ask what card he used for his application - and he used his CSP!!!! So, we re paying for his global entry out of pocket and won't get reimbursed for it :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

When we did TSA precheck you didn't pay until you actually went in to get fingerprinted etc. Apparently you pay for Global Entry up front. If I had known that i I would have double checked what card he was going to use....

I pretty much always do stuff like applying for Global Entry, but DH was trying to help out. So irritated right now!
My DH would so do this. I have been trying to get him to sign up for GE for over a year. He had the credit on CSR then we downgraded it before he “got around” to applying. Now he has a credit on his BOA Premium Rewards Card. I manage all the bills, shopping, DS’s school, soccer, camp etc. I gave him this one thing. So far I haven’t backed down and done it myself but will eventually before we waste another credit.

Just saw the CitiBiz AA card offering 70k miles expires July 21 for anyone who wants to jump on that.

That means I'll need to get DH's card next week and will have two MSRs to complete at the same time. Can you fund a PNC bank account with a MasterCard or is it only a Visa? Hoping it works with MasterCard and that will help out.

Until I ran into Target to acquire a cart full of unnecessary random goods and I stumbled upon the Bose SoundLink Revolve+, marked down to $149 from $299 . Bought one for myself but on a whim got home and listed it--it sold within 5 minutes for $195 (little did I know the price Ebay suggested was for the Revolve non+ edition so someone got a steal of a deal but I still made a few bucks). Went back and bought the other 3 on the shelf and one is currently at $203 with 5 days left.
Had to eexplain to dh why I wanted to walk through the electronics section of target tonight... :rolleyes1

I'm debating if I should have DH get the Capital one Venture card. One of the big draws would be the free Global Entry application. I've already applied for me (free on CSR) and the kids but he'll be applying in the next month. So we'd save 100 on the Global Entry plus we'd get $500 towards travel for a $3000 MS.

I'm pretty sure DH is at 1/24. He got the SPG AmEX in April and the Chase Ink Preferred in May. The CIP doesn't count towards the 5/24 right?

Is it too soon to have him apply for a new card? Am I being short sighted getting this particular card?
DH has the BOA Premium Rewards Card. Same idea $50k points for 3k spend. $100 GE Credit, $100 airline credit. 1.5 points on all purchases/2x on dining and travel. (Cap One is 2x everything I think) The differences being I think BOA card is easier to get and I think Cap one is statement credit. For BoA you can deposit your bonus in a BOA account (savings or checking). We have $800 from that card in a BoA savings account I opened online.
ETA BoA Card will count against 5/24

Driving home takes me 7-8hrs each way and $120 in gas.

I can fly directly into Lincoln on United for 20k miles plus $160 RT, and rent a car for $40-$60

I can fly to Omaha on Frontier for 10k-15k UR pts depending on the day and rent a car for $115, but will spend probably 3-4hrs driving to Omaha and back and a bit more on gas for the rental.

Or I could fly into Omaha on Frontier for 5200pts and out of Lincoln on United for 10k miles plus $80, and rent a car for $160-$250.

Decisions, decisions... what is my time worth? I think any of those scenarios lol.

That sucks. I feel you. Hubby hasn't done anything quite so egregious yet, but did enough that he now doesn't try to "help" me unless he checks in with me first, tells me what he's intending to do and when and to double check he's doing it right. And if something comes up we didn't discuss, he's been stopping and contacting me first to make sure he's got it right. After a couple goofs that he's kicked himself over he started voluntarily running it past me right before he planned to do it.

The good that came out of it is he's more engaged in the process and since he understands more now he's come up with some good ideas. Maybe it'll be a learning moment ? Sorry it was something so big this time :(

Hahaha! Yeah, DoC says it requires the referee’s (is that a word?) full name and email so imho it’s possible BoA links their name to use of the link. No name on their list, no referral. No idea if that’s how it works, but entirely possible. Pretty much you’re selling their name and email to BoA ;)

Oh man, I had this wrong because I didnt realize united was charging a close in booking fee. I wondered why their fees were $80 :P obviously i never fly united on points. Oh yeah, and these flights into Lincoln are $350 each way

I updated:

Driving home takes me 7-8hrs each way and $120 in gas.

I can fly directly into Lincoln on United for 20k miles plus $86 RT, and rent a car for $40-$60

I postedthis on the disney GC thread, but it got lost in the SB conversation shuffle...

Does anyone know if the 20%off amazon promo with Amex rewards is a one time use (as in I should spend $500 at once) or is it cumulative over multiple orders up to $500? I need sunscreen and don't want to waste the promo and miss $95 in savings to save $5 on this !@#$ expensive sunscreen (I have a sensitive skinned redhead and sunscreen is $25/bottle!)

THANKS!

My opinion is the only thing that makes sense is to fly in and out of Lincoln. Why spend all the money to cut if it only cuts your drive in half and you have to be at the airport early and drive to the airport so by the time you cut your drive in half by flying to Lincoln you might as well have driven the entire way. In college I drove 12 hours home on a Friday and then back to school Monday, it sucked but I need to get stuff at home and it was too much to fly with. I wouldn't drive the 8 hours each way for 3 days, I'd fly to Lincoln and spend more time at home.
