Also not OP, but I got a similar offer in April and have no idea how. At first I assumed it was related to the SPG account I had opened the month before but then I realized 1. It came to an email address not associated in any way with my SPG accounts and 2. They had the wrong name
It's a variation of my name, so it was close, but one that usually gets guessed/remembered in speech and not from anything in writing (like a contest form or something I might have filled out)
So I have no idea how they got my info but it wasn't a bad package... just that the hard sell started in the email when they only gave me 6 days to respond :)

My offer:
6 DAYS & 5 NIGHTS
at the exhilarating
Sheraton Kauai Resort,
a Travel + Leisure
World’s Best Award Winner

Avis credit for sightseeing and island travel

All for $698

It says in the fine print that it's an offer for the purpose of selling a timeshare, but it doesn't say anywhere in writing that I'd have to attend a seminar. After @jujubiee4 experience I might seriously consider it the next time I get spammed :)

Yes! I usually consider anything that says timeshare junk mail and toss it. My husband in particular refuses to sit through one no matter how
big the savings. This one was different as it didn't say you had to attend and they verified that in writing. It also didn't say my husband had
to attend. I remember this one being the clincher as he wasn't sure he could get the time off from work. I was prepared to just go with the kids
and bring my mother n law.

However after seeing how nice the upgrade was and the no pressure to attend
my husband later said to me "Maybe we should have went to see what they had to say".lol
Maybe this is the new sales tactic.:smooth:

I wish i could remember the poster who brought it up because of him/her i dug the offer out the trash lol.

i think it was @calypso726 who originally posted about the offer. I got it shortly after opening a spg card, as did my dh .We don't meet the income requirements though or i would probably go for it!

glad you had such an amazing time!

I don't even remember putting an income. I wish i could find it but this was back in August. Even if we were millionaires my husband
would never buy one outright. He would be looking on ebay or one of the reseller markets.:D How would they even verify income?

Now I am curious why it was mailed to me. I don't have an SPG account. Never stayed at the Westin. Just Amex card and it was offered
through them. I wonder if i get an SPG card will i get another offer? Nah i was probably put on the....don't even bother list.:teeth:

This is a very boring plan . . . but I noticed our Lowe's sells Kroger gift cards. So, thats 10% off groceries/gas, which is better than the 5% Freedom/Discover current deals. If I could still do MO's at my Walmart, I'd probably look for Visa cards. Oh well. Still mulling this one over . . .
I wonder if ours does too... I'm also debating. I'm at $990 on my Freedom, so I'll probably max it out no matter what. I've got the Staples and Lowe's offers on 3 cards. I might buy a little more with Discover cards at the end of the month, mainly because the 10% Disney GCs at Staples and Lowe's would be a little more than my back up plan of buying Disney at Sam's with my Discover in Q4. I'm glad these offers go until the end of November.

There was an income requirement in the eligibility disclaimers on the back of the offer. I'm not sure how they would verify either, or if they really would. I did think it was weird how @calypso726 posted about getting the offer, and then we also each got one (I think my dh has gotten it twice now). Seems like such a great deal and especially if they aren't pushy!

I'm looking for my grandpa. He's looking at coming my way for the last weekend of June, but the Saturday night rate is really high for whatever reason... I don't know of any events right off. I'd just book it with points for him and call it a day but he's so darn stubborn... I was going to book one reservation all points, and one paying cash Sunday night so if I can't convince him to let me use points I would just tell him it was $156 for the two nights :P

ETA: If it's pay in advance maybe I'll just tell him that it was a special rate only I could get...

Ok, so the more I looked and remembered, I think with that you pay the cash at checkout like normal. This was how they used to do a cash and points booking, where one whole night was cash and the other whole night was points. We never get lucky to see what you have there, where you can pay the cheap night with cash and the expensive one with points :) We usually get one or more nights that say "cash rate" or smeting like that without a number and you can't pick cash for those nights. Then the other nights are crazy.
So it's been a while since we might have done one of those and I have no proof. We'd usually book those over the phone because you didn't always see the option online when they rolled it out. At least back then you paid at checkout :)

Thanks for going to the trouble! I'm going to give it a shot and see what happens.

[GALLERY=][/GALLERY]Ok so Marriott got back to me regarding the issues and said they would change the sheets and give us a $100 credit. I notice today the sheets are still stained. I think it’s another set of stained sheets. the manager is coming up at 1:30 and will supervise the changing of the sheets and she said she would offer us something special. I am livid. First $100 was a little insulting when we have five nights here and the room rate is $300 a night. Do you guys think I’m being ridiculous?

ETA: here’s a pic

I once found a cockroach in my room and was given 30,000 points because of it. I'd say $100 is not a TERRIBLE offer but...they could definitely offer more if they were trying to actually have you be happy. Sorry about the issues you've experienced :(

I originally had signed up because of AA but now I'm focusing more of our flying on SW so I was happy to see I could do Honors instead! Glad to have helped :thumbsup2

I honestly can't even remember how I got signed up for it. I think maybe SW, but I'm not sure. The point valuation for Hertz is pretty good too so I might cash out for that eventually.

Well I’m livid. The manager was supposed to come at 1:30 with housekeeping and fix the sheets. The manger never came and the housekeeper was arguing with me and said she changed the sheets yesterday. I was like uhhh they are still dirty. Below is part of the review I posted on TripAdvisor but basically housekeeping admitted to me they don’t change the sheets between guests unless there is a stain. The housekeeping manager was yelling at the housekeeper for not realizing the stain when the sheets should be changed no matter what.

Today I went down to the front desk and spoke to a manager who said she would personally come up to my room at 1:30pm to make sure the sheets were clean. At 1:30pm I get a knock on the door from housekeeping. She is unaware of the situation so I inform her. She tells me that the item that was stained is called an insert (comforter) and not the sheets. I tell her then can I get the insert changed and she tells me that she needs to look and see if they have an extra one available. Confused by this statement I ask doesn’t this insert get changed between guest stays. She tells me it only gets changed if their is a stain. This leads to a few issues. One it was stained how did no one from housekeeping notice. Two they don’t change the insert between guests which is unacceptable for a hotel in this price range. While all this is going on I have called the front desk two times wondering where the manager is who assured me she would be here at 1:30pm. Both times I was transferred and got sent to voice mail. The housekeeping lady eventually found a new insert but the manager never showed up.

Wow. Just Wow. It’s not like you’re on an hourly rate at the local Motel 6 here... I agree on the Twitter shaming.
