What makes the CIP and plastiq combo so attractive is the CIP coding 3x. I don't know of any MC doing that. However, there is a current MC promo where if you pay using your MC and Masterpass, plastiq will waive all fees. If you already have a MC you can use, that would earn you some points. But that promo only last a few months so I wouldn't open a MC just for that.

must be done in $500 increments though. :( Im not sure how abusive u can get with it. ill def find out next month when i order my checks.

I'm trying to find us a hotel room by Legoland (CA) for two nights. I'd like to use points (of course!). Rather than looking at each hotel chain's website, is there a site that can find this info for me? Show me what is available for rewards nights?

Theres a sheraton on site. i think it was 10k.
To answer your question, i think your looking for this LINK

I'm a little behind on this thread as things have been super busy for me lately, but I did want to pop in and ask a question. I've been looking for a new card and decided to go for the Hilton biz card. I applied after getting the 125k point, $50 statement credit to pop up, and I got "application is pending further review." I have one other Amex card which is the SPG, which currently has a $0 balance. Is that a bad sign? My SPG I was instantly approved. Is there a phone number to call to check the status? Any guidance is appreciated!

Nevermind, got an email about an hour after the app and I was approved!

Hello, I see a 60,000 bonus miles promo for AA Advantage. Is this a typical offer or is this a rare one like when SW offered their 60k bonus miles with their card?

@disneymagicgirl money shows in my discover account this morning!

Mine still says $0.00 and doesn't even show pending. It would be nice if I could even find somewhere in the discover site showing they initiated it. I can only see it is gone on the ally end. This is so slow. I may go ahead and start the next bank while I am waiting.:tiptoe:

ETA: I was confused...actually opened and funded on Saturday...so maybe tomorrow for me.

How did you add the CIC to your CIP account? I need to add DH’s to his CIP and i’m Stumped.

Hopefully you figured this out already, Once I had my CIP account and got the CIC I went to the verify site on the CIC paper and it asked me to log in so I used my CIP credentials and it just added it automagicly.

I use hotelhustle.com. You put in your location and it shows availability by chain with number of points needed per night showing.

On the Chase Marriott upgrade, if my annual fee hits in June and I do the upgrade (for 20,000 points) today, then I'll get charged $95 now then that will get reversed if I cancel once I get my certificate? Trying not to screw this up.

And I guess the language says this may impact the month you earn your anniversary night in. Maybe I should play it safe and not upgrade.

Anyone want to play hypothetical with me? I am still trying to figure out this marriott thing b/c I need SW points by 5/31. hahaha

Lets say I buy a cat 8 nights/flights + 120k SW points today. My expectation is that for my 360k marriott points I am getting 7 nights (6 nights worth of points since 5th night free) at a cat 8 property...lets just say Atlantis...plus 120k SW points. Lets say, however, that I haven't booked my Atlantis stay before August because I am unsure on what dates we will travel.

Then lets say marriott does the cancel outstanding certificates thing come August. So I have my airline points at 120k already. Great. Marriott issues me points in lieu of my certificate...keeping in mind that normally 120k SW points would normally cost 360k marriott points if transferring directly.

Here are some thoughts on things they could do:

1. Issue me 240k marriott points so I can still book my 7 nights at a cat 8 property as I expected with purchase...Customer is happy as they got what they paid for. Marriott is sad because they just gave out marriott points to airline points 1:1. BUT, is this really any different for them than issuing the certificate, in terms of their bottom line?

2. Send my a letter with some sort of nice spin about the changes and make my 7 night cert poof disappear because I technically got the 120k SW points that my 360k marriott points would normally buy me. Customer is livid and marriott saved themselves 7 free nights. (doesn't seem like a good PR move so unlikely).

3. Other ideas?

I sort of think #1 is quite possible because I don't see how that is any different from a financial standpoint for marriott and the customer stays happy. In my case extra happy b/c I'd rather have the points to use as I see fit than a 7 night cert.

No where it gets extra interesting for us to get the most bang for our buck is the cat 1-5 packages. Assuming they credit the customer for points in lieu of certs come august as in example 1... In that scenario would they:

1. Give outstanding cert holders just 45k points (covers 7 nights in cat 1)...customers angry they can't book the cat 5 they had expected. Marriott wins financially here.
2. Give outstanding cert holders 150k points (covers 7 nights cat 5)...customers happy because they get to book a cat 5 hotel for the normal cost of 150k pts for 7 nights and they got a 1:1 SW transfer....all as they expected.
3. They give some point amount in-between...angry customers can't book hotel they wanted.

Since I am a visual learner here is the potential math:

Cat 8 package today for 360k MR = 120 SW + 240k MR
Cat 1-5 package today for 270k MR = 120k SW + 45k MR (if pd out at cat 1 rate)
Cat 1-5 package today for 270k MR = 120 SW + 150k MR

So it seems like the cat 8 package is the way to go because of the unknown with the cat 1-5s. If they pay out at the cat 5 rate in Aug then it is a wash. If they paid out at the cat 1 rate in Aug then I lost 105k MR for the same amount of original purchase (270k MR).

Is anyone else planning to buy a package soon?
Did I do any math incorrectly here? I am new to starriott so just trying to figure this out before SW flights drop next week.

Can you wait until you get your free night cert first? Probably safer.

I paid my Wells Fargo mortgage yesterday taking advantage of this promo. Due to the $500 limitation, I had to send multiple checks. I did 3 on my Plastiq account and 2 on DH's. We both have the IHG card. Since IHG points are pretty cheap to "buy" by doing the book/cancel thing, MSing these points isn't huge, but still . . . would rather get the IHG points than nothing. Right now, Plastiq shows my payments are processing. Will report back after the checks are sent. I did note in the memo line "partial June payment - DO NOT apply to principal."

Note - use incognito mode when selecting Masterpass as your payment method. Otherwise Plastiq will autoload the CapitalOne Masterpass version.
