I love credit cards so much!

That is amazing! Glad it worked out for you. We are heading there the week of Memorial Day and it seems like we are always a few points short of getting the nights we want! I just wish they offered cash rates for more nights. We were able to get the cash rate for 2 nights last year, but not any this year.

I used to get cash rate all the time and it was fairly reasonable but not any more. Much less availability and much higher prices, even when the rest of Hilton Head is dead.

I had tried to book this night cash rate and full price (almost $700 with taxes) and couldn't get it, nor could I get any other sized room, so when it came on the waitlist, I almost couldn't believe it.

Also, haven't forgiven them yet for raising the Thanksgiving week prices either (:. Love going there over the TG holiday!

I have several (Prob 4-ish) credit 'monitoring' services from various big data looses. Out of all of them only one of them detects any 'change/activity' in credit history, even two SW cards in one day didn't trigger on the others. I got a notice from my OPM one within like 12 hours of the approval that someone looked at my credit report for the CIC. I wonder how many people are trusting those and not still keeping an eye on their report?

I did wonder about that. Fortunately, or unfortunately, I didn't apply for much when I had 3 or 4 services at the same time so I didn't know how accurate they were. I know some of the services weren't really setup for monitoring, they were more there for repair (and I swear one of them was only looking at 1 credit bureau :sad2:). But that MyIDCare that OPM uses is really good, I've got that too and it has been the only one that alerts me to every change. I think that's all I have at the moment, I think my last one ran out last year. I do wonder what you'd have to pay for that one because it monitors everything (emails and whatnot too) and I've gotten alerts about those other things too. After having this one I can see why someone would pay for it, I was not impressed with any of the others.

Edit: And I do also hope people are still pulling their CR's every year even with the services, but I suspect not :(

That is awesome! We have not stayed at Hilton Head yet but are hoping to do so one day. Love it when DVC availability works out

I've got over 50 stays there since 1997. My 25 year old basically grew up there - learned to ride a bike there, fishing, crabbing, swimming. There are close to 20 families I call 'friends' that go there or went there and often, we used to meet mostly at Thanksgiving. We would have 'meets' at the beach house and have barbecued together over holidays. Now, it's dwindled down, but still I often cross paths with people from Disboards or RADP or the old AOL boards who still go and love HH.

How long does it normally take Disney to refund your credit card after you cancel a trip? I booked a room this past Saturday but almost immediately canceled it in favor of the room I had booked through Chase but still have not received a refund.

ETA: I also did not receive a cancellation email even though the reservation is no longer showing up on DME. Wondering if I should call...

Call. It took them over 2 weeks to process a refund for me.

Give it until next week, I’ve noticed refunds to my Chase cards always seem to take a bit longer than I expect.
ETA: peace of mind is very valuable, if you’re concerned it wasn’t fully cancelled or something and would like to hear from a rep that it was cancelled don’t be afraid to call.

Yeah I get emails every month from two saying that no activity was detected and I am good... Then the OPM one is like we found something! I am sure with the others with them emailing people saying nothing is found each month they may feel protected. I know most companies pay for the least/cheapest to look like they care or are doing something.

Just thought this was fitting... http://dilbert.com/strip/2018-05-08

It took disney 2 weeks to refund chase and then took chase another 1.5 weeks to refund me. I’d call or email them to make sure it’s canceled and a refund is in process

Thanks! It's on my brand new card so I don't need to pay it any time soon, it just seems weird that it hasn't shown up yet. I double checked that I canceled the right reservation and I definitely did.

Ok, FYI, so our Hilton account still says we have no active offers BUT our stay from this past weekend posted and we got the double points! I hope you got your too now.
I just checked and DH also got the double points! Thanks for reminding me. I came back from our trip with a head cold and I haven't been able to catch up on anything points-related.

LOL, love Dilbert...

Here's an interesting possibility. If you have Royal Caribbean status, you can get a match to M Life (MGM) which then you can get a match to Total Rewards. I called RCCL and found out my Emerald would transfer to M life diamond. I think if you're a Hyatt Explorist that match is not dead.
This thing needs a flow chart! Also- RCL? That’s some AWESOME outside of the box thinking!

I’m a little slow. Finals week is killing me lol. So I can match? Do I match to RCCL or the Hyatt match still works.

Guys, I proposed scenarios 1 and 3 to DH last night... and he seems in for scenario 3! The double dip CSR/CSP for MIL! Though maybe not really a double dip, he wants to know why they can't each get one (MIL and FIL). I mean they could, and I don't really have a good reason because unless we're pushing for it like this... they would have no reason to do another double dip. Plus I would be eligible for a double dip in Dec and DH would be in Oct 2018, so we're basically heading into a double dip each year pattern as long as we could support it and nothing changes.

Hmm. The $300 is for a class gift. Is it cheesy to give my kid’s teacher a $200 card and a $100 card? I want my 5X points, lol.
We totally gave my BIL 2 $100 Visa gift cards for his wedding, because I wanted to put it towards a minimum spend, earn fuel points, and they were out of $200 cards that day...

where does everyone fall in the category of buying swa points? I see they're 30% off right now, and I could a few thousand to top off my acct which is pretty dry (in the interest of preserving my UR)

is anyone here buying gift of prime for another year and applying it to your Amazon acct later? I'm debating doing this, but my 'year' doesn't end till end of Oct......
...except I'm not sure I really understand this workaround...DoC says you have to cancel your membership FIRST, then it still extends to actual date it would end(???) how does that work? If i cancel it now doesn't it end NOW? and then supposed to buy gift of membership thingy and hold onto it until that (above noted) date?
