I love credit cards so much!

Can you remove an au at chase via sm?

Yes, usually.

We had a few reports last week saying Chase told them to call in with the request, and then they were asked why they were removing the AU. Chase said AU cards have the same numbers as the primary card (and pretty sure continue to work even after being removed as an AU), so if the reason is because of something like a divorce then Chase will have to send a new card to you. Saying your spouse never uses them or something should be fine (but keep the card because I seem to remember they continue to work).

After that, you may want to follow up on your spouse’s account by sending a SM informing Chase that he’s been removed as an AU, has not and is “not financially responsible for the charges on that card,” and ask that Chase remove reference to the AU accounts on his credit report with all the bureaus that Chase reports to.

@calypso726 whenever you arrive this morning, can I get a quick rundown from you on what miles/points you're planning to use to fly to Japan for your ABD trip? Any specific credit cards you used? I'm beginning to look at what I need to do for a Japan 2020 trip and am wondering what my best way to get there from the east coast is.

The current plan is to use AA or AS miles and book Cathay Pacific. I will have to get a positioning flight to one of their North American gateway cities. If I find interesting award space on something with a shower on the plane (Etihad or Emirates) then I will go that route. I plan to fly JAL on the way back home also using AA miles.

As for collecting AA miles - Citi Platinum Aadvantage card, Barclay Aviator (business and may pick up personal again later this year). I use AA shopping portals nearly exclusively.
AS miles via BoA Alaska card and currently hammering SPG-Marriott- hotels/flights packages to pick up extra AS miles.

Hope this helps.

The sweet spot for for US-->Japan is Virgin Atlantic with 95k RT J class ANA metal pr 120k F class ANA metal.
i think @calypso726 is flying SQ F class but shes coming from Singapore, i think.

Flying to HKG this month via SQ but coming back home from NRT via JAL. I think @DisneyMandC wants to know about my plans for Japan next year since I was posting about the Japan ABD trip over on that thread.

RT=Round Trip
J class = Business class
F class = First class
Metal = what airline your flying

What is "ANA"? My dd17 has an anaphylactic (ANA) peanut allergy so that is all I can think of!

And also had never used Uber or Lyft but had to when we were at WDW in sept. I had to get my dd17 to urgent care. The app makes it a cinch. Seriously so easy. I was shocked and kind of proud of myself. Felt like a big city girl :D

Did anybody let you know that the Urgent Care Disney recommends on 535 right outside the gates will come and get you at your hotel?

Another random question. Eventually I’ll know all the answers and can stop pestering everyone! When you aren’t trying to get to your MSR, are there any cards in particular that give you the most bang for your buck? I have a CITI card that earns me total 2% and I always thought I was doing pretty good with that.

u will get all sorts of answers for this. but my go to card for 1x category is the SPG card. I will swipe whatever else that i have a category in, ie food, grocery stores, gas, etc.

I wish I knew what the changes would be too!!!

So, to upgrade your certificate to a Cat 8, you call into the Marriott Rewards number. Tell them you want to attach your certificate to your reservation. If you're short, they'll tell you you don't have enough points. But you can transfer SPG points to Marriott right then and there (you log into your Starwood account and do the transfer online), it is instant, and then they will upgrade your award to a Cat 8. If you're short on points, you just need to have the points in your Marriott account 10 days prior to check-in, so that's your true deadline: 10 days prior to check-in.**

For my situation, I'm going with the Cat 1-5 travel package redemptions. Once Marriott has its act together and comes out with the hotel category list, I can make decisions. If my Cat 8 hotel is going to cost me more after 8/1 than compared to now, then I'll upgrade that package before 8/1 so that I'm locked in at the current point cost. There are some downsides to my plan though. One of my resort reservations has a 30 day cancellation policy (seems that each hotel sets its own policy on this and while most are the same, there are some oddballs) so I could potentially lose all those points if I don't go to that resort after all. And travel insurance doesn't reimburse you for FMV of points like it would if you made a cash booking AFAIK.

** ETA: To be more clear, your hotel reservation needs the points in your account 10 days prior to check in. But you need all the points in your account at that moment to redeem a Cat 1-5 package.
I may pm you I have so many questions still

We actually got a ride there but I took a Lyft back. It took them an hour to come get us though. I wish I had just taken a Lyft there too. We were using precious park time. We went to Centra Care off Apopka-Vineland. I'm not sure who Disney recommends. I called the pharmacy they recommend (can't remember how I got that info) and they put me in contact with the Urgent care.

I actually like my Costco Citi card - 4% on gas at any station, not just Costco, 3% on restaurants - and it seems to work almost everywhere.

Editing to add - for most everything else I use my SPG card - at least until August I will!

Used to be spg for me everywhere... now it's my chase trifecta for ur points. Either 5x,3x,or 1.5x everywhere

I think that is the one Disney recommends. I had to go 2 years ago when I was staying at the Polynesian. You go out Hotel Plaza Blvd and take a left and it's right there. I'm not sure what Pharmacy they use. I'm kind of locked into CVS because of my prescription plan. I can get a first script anywhere but the second one has to be CVS. So, I just went to CVS, which is pretty close also.

I mean, have a melt down about 900 points and not being able to have your bachelor party in an airport lounge. Whatever.
My system is more random. Just a rubber band. Around a bunch of cards. In a dresser drawer. I sometimes shuffle through to find a card to use, they are in no particular order.
I had a bunch of baseball card holders leftover from my extreme couponing days so I used those in a binder to sort out cards between DH and myself. It looks oh-so-organized . The first time my BFF (who is not a churner at all!) saw it she was like !

Once you can use swolphin for nights/flights packages you might think that is the best use again. :)

I am tempted to try swolphin, but it is just so easy to walk down to DME. I hate the thought of dealing with a rental or finding a large enough uber for all of us. I'm not a city girl, no clue how to hail a taxi. :goodvibes

Ugh, I am in the same boat. I just have never been too excited about the Swolphin. I think I would be sad that I wasn't staying at a "real" Disney Resort. I like the room charging, bags getting picked up, etc. We do rental houses quite a bit because we tend to travel in big groups (and I am perpetually short on DVC points) but if I book a hotel room...I want it to be *real* Disney :rotfl:. ALTHOUGH I will say I don't care for the buses. DME from the airport is fine but I loathe waiting an indefinite amount of time while the estimated arrival time on the reader boards jump around with reckless abandon and finally cramming like sardines into a bus. We are country folk too so I have never gotten used to the public transit thing. All I think is "I could have driven there in half the time with less sweaty butts in my face". Uber though? Da bomb. Watching the masses head for a bus stop while we wait just a minute to get picked up is perfect. I never used it really before WDW but once you do you'll never want to go back to a bus again.

This is exactly why I’m hesitant to try the Swolphin. I love the DME and not getting my luggage. Getting a Uber is easy, but it’s not as magical. we are pretty crazy that we would rather stay at an All Star than at the Swolphin. Along with no DME you don’t get magic bands, no room charging, no dining plan and we really love those benefits. I may try it though because I am running low on URs and have a lot of SPG points.

If my options were between a value or Swolphin....I might churn an extra month or two so I had better options .

Lol, that would be ideal. I really don’t mind the values though. Yeah, SO and I sleep in separate beds since we always get stuck with the two double beds. And yeah they are uncomfortable and the pillows aren’t even real pillows, but the rooms are always clean and it’s so cheap. We are also never in the room. SO’s touring style kills me. We never go back to the room and relax or go swimming in the pool. My Disney style is not the norm though, we stay in values and get deluxe dining lol

Hey, I have a BCP through Amex. I don't have any MR earners. If I did would I be able to transfer my accumulated cash back and turn it into MRs like you can with the Chase trifecta? I am unfamiliar with MR's and they seem confusing but evaluating my options. Chase has provided for all my points needs thus far.

All hail the UR :worship:
