Okay sorry to beat the dead horse just want to check one more thing to see if I understand this... I need about $400 so 8 * $50, Can the $5/$50 bonus be used 8 times? Can I use it back to back in 8 transactions in one day? Has anyone done this? Since its prob a post later promotion I want to make sure since I won't know it failed until its too late!
You need 8 different qr codes. If your store will allow it you can do 8 in one day. The Disney gift card thread is saying Best Buy is/has discontinued selling Disney cards at some stores.

I don’t want to freak anyone out, but a reddit post is citing a DP on FT that Plastiq earned only 1x on their CIP: https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/8hej7o/comment/dykd2f8?st=JGVU2T6Z&sh=63b0c994

The reddit poster makes a good point that OP could have maxed out the 3x category, which is capped at $150k in spend, if he was running payroll through Plastiq. OP’s handle is SFO777, and even a “small” payroll in the Bay Area will run through $150k in no time.

I made a utility payment through Plastiq this morning, but it hasn’t shown up in my UR activity yet. As soon as it does, I’ll update.

Eek! Officially freaked out!!!

I will note that Undercover Tourist codes as travel for CSR. Getting a 7-day ticket and bridging to an AP can maximize your points and save you money.
so just checked and DH is 5/24 because of 2 AU cards that I added him too. I’m terrified to recon because we don’t have a real business. I think I’ll just let this go and go the discounted gift card route. I’ll be under 5/24 in January 2019.

Ask me about the time I forgot the word "tortilla" and referred to it as "taco bread."

That and 'hungry for water' sound like pretty good improvisation to get the point across!

Sometimes I can't even remember people's names. My head is full of old information.....if only I could figure out how to download a lot of it and make room for new stuff.....maybe my brain could use a new hard drive.

The simple reason I don't have Southwest cards (either business or personal) is the earning rates. I probably should have done it when the bonuses were higher, but the 2x earning seemed dumb to me. But a companion pass would definitely be useful. 4-5 free flights a year is a great benefit.

Obviously the CIP is great for paying Internet/Phone and it has Cell Phone Protection. But other than the 80k bonus, is there any reason for retaining it?
I’ve kept it for the 3x ur point categories as well as using it with plastiq to pay any bill that doesn’t take a cc. Get over 11k ur a month extra from using plastiq vs paying with a personal check.
If you haven’t signed up for plastiq check the dischurners under misc to get $500 fee free dollars

Hi all!

I’ve been in the MS/churn game for about 5-6 years now. Hit things pretty heavy the first two years but then life gets in the way and I’ve been pretty quiet the last 2 years (which is good when it comes to 5/24!).

The itch to get back into the game has started back up and 100+ pages on this thread doesn’t hurt either!

I applied for CIP last month and have about $600 left to meet MSR. Looking for where I should set my sights next.

I have the following:
Chase
Chase Ink Plus with business #1.
New CIP with business #2.
IHG, Hyatt and Chase Freedom.
At about 30% of income with chase credit limits

AMEX
Blue (from 1999, earns membership rewards, no fee, my oldest card)
Blue Cash Preferred
Blue Cash

Barclay Priceline

USB Flex Perks
USB REI

And a few other randoms I don’t really use.

We have a pretty hefty stash of URs (200k plus the 85k to come from the new CIP). I’m out of membership rewards points. Delta is our primary air carrier from Detroit as we prefer non stop flights. Spirit works for us as well. Not opposed to Southwest but its not as convenient for us so that’s kept me away from the SW deals so far.

Future trips could involve Aulani (we’re DVC members), Spain, DCL (or another cruise line), would love to do an Adventures by Disney trip but $$$!
I would double dip the CSR and CSP. 100k ur bonus between the 2 cards not including your spend plus 5k for adding au to csp.
CSR redeem your ur at 1.5x.

Or how's about this guy who clearly doesn't have any kids complaining about families overcrowding the PP lounge at MCO? https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/8hmdpv/daily_discussion_thread_may_07_2018/dykwqho/
So hard to not respond to his post but I know I would get downvotes.
The average family now days is 5-7 according to all my professional health research newsletters.
Still think the PP should allow the immediate family. I can understand non family members being a guest and capping it at 2 but a family should be allowed.

I don't usually post on reddit, don't post referrals there, so couldn't care less about the downvotes. Besides, I believe the way the karma system works is you get credit for posts and net upvotes, but not for downvotes and they don't count against your karma. I downvoted him. I draw the line when someone who has no understanding of other people's situations starts making judgments and throwing around crude labels at other people's kids.

Why not remove him as the AU? It’s super easy and takes a few weeks to be removed from his credit report. And he can continue to use the cards, the cards aren’t voided until they expire - if they are the same card # as yours.

Ok, I've completely misunderstood, which is not surprising to me in the least... :o ...So glad I can call upon you to help with the math once I decide if that is what I really want to do with my spg points. Once upon a time, I was going to use them for Swolphin, but not sure that is the best use now.

Once you can use swolphin for nights/flights packages you might think that is the best use again. :)

I am tempted to try swolphin, but it is just so easy to walk down to DME. I hate the thought of dealing with a rental or finding a large enough uber for all of us. I'm not a city girl, no clue how to hail a taxi. :goodvibes

@calypso726 whenever you arrive this morning, can I get a quick rundown from you on what miles/points you're planning to use to fly to Japan for your ABD trip? Any specific credit cards you used? I'm beginning to look at what I need to do for a Japan 2020 trip and am wondering what my best way to get there from the east coast is.

I think the flight/night packages are the best redemptions of Marriott points until we see what they roll out later this year; I expect the packages to be impacted by the merger.

Currently you can transfer 70K Marriott points for 25K miles, or 140K Marriott points for 50K SWRR if all you're doing is a straight up transfer to SWRRs. Another way to look at the flight/night packages from this perspective is to look at the Marriott point cost a la carte, i.e. pricing the miles transfer separately from the nights redemption and adding them together. For 125K SWRR it would cost 350K Marriott points + 240K Marriott points for 1 week in a Cat 8 hotel. That comes to 590K Marriott points vs the 360K for a flight/night package (ok, granted you get an extra 5K SWRRs in this scenario). Or in other words, you get a week in a Cat 8 hotel for just 10K Marriott points using the travel package, or alternatively as you point out 120K SWRR for 120K Marriott points which is a savings of 230K Marriott points over a miles only transaction. I think that makes the package a tremendous deal.

The downside to a flight/night package is that it is for 7 consecutive nights, it's not like you get 240K Marriott points to use here and there at your choosing. And it's supposed to expire in a year, but anecdotally people call and get their certificates extended for free.

I'm hedging my bets right now and plan to redeem Marriott points for another Cat 1-5 SW package. That way I get the 120K SWRR now. In June, Marriott is supposed to be releasing their new category list for all Marriott and SPG properties (they have released a few already but not the full list). I've made reservations at Cat 8 properties I'm considering. You have to search based on using reward points, not cash, but you don't need the points in your account yet if it's a Marriott property. But you do need the points in your account for SPG properties, so that puts you in a pickle if you're thinking of transferring the 40K SPG points over to Marriott for the travel package because you won't know ahead of time which category the Sheraton or Westin will end up in. Unless you have enough SPG points to both transfer to Marriott and book the Sheraton or Westin, then you're pretty golden.

When the new category list comes out, I'll call to upgrade my Cat 1-5 certificate to whatever the new category is and pay with Marriott points or I'll change to a different property entirely. Those are my plans anyway.
Ok I had this dilemma last week.... I saw marriott waileabforv160k for my 5 night stay, and @SouthFayetteFan laid out the numbers nicely for my cat. 8 hotel plus air options. I think I decided to hedge my bets the other way,and see what happens with the announcement by booking hotel alone using spg-Marriott points now,and saving the other chunk in spg for a hotel booking at swan before the big change. Is this foolish? I have no idea what will happen next month, and I don't need the rr points as much I would like an extra stay at swolphin next spring.... in my case, with my 5 night timeline it made more sense to do this( I think)
@platamama can you give more detail as to bumping up the cert.?iwas unclear on that part, since if I did this now I know I want a cat 8 cert. I'm still tempted to do nights plus flights and hang the swolphin idea...... I wish I knew what the changes would be.
