OMG I'm at 4/24.

One more day of 100K CIP in-branch and I only have a "business." And I have an old CIC. But I want a SW CP later this year which almost certainly is going to require a SW Biz. Ack! Decisions decisions.

ETA: Oops, I'm wrong. Will be 4/24 in June. Dang, I got overexcited. I'll take it as a sign to go for the SW Biz instead of a CIP. Can't believe I have to wait til December for DH to get a CIP.
Fwiw the 100k is turning out to be a dud for many people as it is still apparently a BRM promotion.

Update on my WDW ticket purchased with URs because now I’m nervous: I hoped the tickets would process if I gave it a day but it’s almost midnight and nothing. I did more research and others got etickets from Disney within minutes of getting off the phone with Chase here http://saverocity.com/asthejoeflies...y-world-tickets-with-ultimate-rewards-points/ so it looks like I will be calling Chase Cruise tomorrow.

Discover IT has increased my credit limit by a few thousand. Is there any reason to tell them to lower it back down? I want to apply for the CFU when I fall below 5/24 this fall/winter. My Discover IT limit is not crazy high but Chase has extended high amounts over my 4 Chase cards. I also have an AMEX with a pretty high limit.

I purchased tickets via chase using UR and got my confirmation number within minutes. Linked it to mde and the correct tickets were added.

another stupid jetblue question here and way OT.... how do I know if I'm a mosaic member? I don't really get their program. HAven't flown them in years, I have a mosaic packet I got a year or so ago which details all the benefits of 'my' mosaic membership tho...I think I got it when they offered a free status match with...something. I don't se anything on my JB acct page that tells me anything other than I haven't qualified for 2019. where do I look?

codes as RESTAURANTS/ BARS - 5812 for visa.
Last time we went, granted it's been almost a year, they coded as dining at the table but not at the front or the kiosk when I reloaded the cards. Wonder if they changed that or if it depends on location

I feel your pain! I was thinking I would be 4/24 in June for some reason, and then I figured out a month ago that it's not until Novwmber. And I want a CIP!

Discover is completely different than Chase or Amex so having a higher credit limit there is a good thing. Will help raise your overall credit score.

So on AmEx Dave & Busters codes everything as the "Restaurants" category, FYI. 3 separate charges for bowling, food, and arcade credits all coded the same: Restaurants with a description of "Goods & Services". I assumed it would all code as entertainment or something, not restaurant so I didn't even try my CSR on the food part; just put everything toward the last bit of SPG spend. Now I wonder what could have been. It's not like it was hundreds of dollars but I was trying to keep it to only non-category spend to not miss out maximizing elsewhere. :headache:

I'm pretty sure AMC Theaters codes as movies/theaters for tickets but restaurant/bars at the concession stand.

Why not both? You have to be under 5/24 to get the SW Biz and CIP, but neither will add to your */24 count. I got 2 Chase biz cards with just a "business." Just space out your Biz apps by at least 3 months. If you want to get the CIP first, get it in June, dabble in some Amex biz cards afterwards, or another Chase personal if another slot opens, then go for the SW Biz towards the end of the year for 2019-2020.

Chase looks at the credit limit that they've extended to you. If you're concerned about how much credit Chase has already given you and how that might affect approval of new cards, you can SM Chase to reduce the credit lines on your cards. Discover is separate so don't do anything there, and like @kmc8826 said, a credit line increase will tend to have a positive effect on your credit score because more overall credit usually means lower percentage of credit utilization (assuming you don't go on a spending spree with that new credit). (At the very least, the increased credit from Discover may help offset any reduction of credit you proactively make with Chase.)

Ok, this is a really stupid question for someone who has been on this thread so long, but I am having brain issues this morn. lol I am telling my DB about different Chase cards, Are the Freedoms strictly cash back if you only have those and you need a Sapphire or a CIP to get transfer to hotel and air abilities?

I know what I am about to ask has nothing to do with CC, but here it goes Lol. Could anyone recommend some must eat at restaurants at WDW please. My family is going in Nov. and ADR is on Wednesday and we are still not sure where to eat. A family of 5. Thank you!!!!

You can’t transfer but you can book on the travel portal.

It does seem places are getting better at separating out their different components, I should try to remember that. It worked in my favor for a while as all WaWa's coded as gasoline with Discover until last year, regardless of if they had the fuel stations or not. So I got 2% back on my milk runs :) But now the convenience store codes as Supermarkets and the fuel pumps are Gasoline. (so again working in my favor this quarter on my other Discover for 5%)
I hadn't been to D&B's in so long I couldn't remember what it actually coded as, but I thought it was all one generic entertainment category or something. Guess it's better to be all coded as Restaurants given how many cards have that as a bonus category.

I love Steak so Yatchsman and Le Cellier are my favorite nice restaurants. Pretty pricey though.

Also, if you can do one expensive meal I’d recommend the Hoop Dee Doo. I thought the show would be corny but omg it’s so funny. And the fried chicken was amazing.

My SO says via Napoli maybe some of the best pizza he has ever had. And we are from NY. The other Italian food there though isn’t great. Tutto Italia has great Italian food.

We also like Yak and Yeti. The QS and restaurant is really good. QS I thought was a small portion. Satuili canteen is great though too. I’m a picky eater, but SO got the bowl and I tried it and it was so good. Also, the cheeseburger pods, omg I don’t even like pickles or mustard, but the pods tasted great.

Hollywood we aren’t thrilled with any restaurants there. Mama Melrose is awful. Sci Fi-SO refuses to go back to. People love it though. Personally, i think it’s like an Applebee’s just meh. 50s the fried chicken is ok not like the Hoop Dee though. Brown Derby is good but not as good as other signature restaurants. Haven’t eaten at Hollywood and Vine.

Magic kingdom- liberty tree tavern is the best. I like going at lunch so you can choose if u want a la carte or all you an eat. Get the ooey gooey toffee cake.

Disney Springs- daily poutine is good, the boathouse, and paradiso.

I also haven’t mentioned any Character Dining. We hate buffets. I did enjoy Chef Mickeys breakfast though, but SO is a germ freak and hates them.

Cinderella’s Royal table was a good one time experience. With kids that may enjoy eating in the castle I’d consider it. But it is expensive and you can get better expensive food on property.

This got long lol we love our Disney food. If you could only do one I’d pick the Hoop Dee Doo.

Concur with @speedyfishy . You get the travel option in the UR section, but only to book it through them. You can pay with points but it's the same cpp as doing a statement credit, so it's only useful if they have a better price than you can book yourself and use the statement credit. No other fun stuff like transfers.

I'll second just about everything @speedyfishy said. For Yak and Yeti though I will say the opposite is true of the sit down restaurant as the portions are HUGE. You can easily split a meal there, especially if you do something like their lo mein. Hollywood is sort of a dud for great food, though the atmosphere at 50s Primetime is fun if you're into that sort of thing.

My favorites: California Grill, I can throw a dart at the menu and whatever it lands in will be good. Jiko is always amazing and I’ve never had a bad meal there. Hoop Dee Doo is a lot of fun! I lost count of how many times we’ve been there. Stopped counting after 10 and it never gets old for me. For a really special and spendy dinner (9 or 10 yrs old and up I think) I’d be remiss not to recommend Victoria & Albert’s. It is literally my favorite restaurant on property and I’ve been known to geek out over Chef Scott Hunnel. But it is one we save for special occasions. We just ate at Enzo’s in Disney Springs this past weekend and it was really good! Flying Fish at the Boardwalk area is also pretty fantastic. I absolutely love Be Our Guest at MK. Tiffins is at AK is my favorite restaurant at that park but Yak & Yeti is pretty great too in a pinch. If you are a Landry’s card holder you can walk in with no reservations, show your membership card and be sat right away. Hope this helps!

I think if he's SPG Plat based on SPG stays by 8/1 then yes, he's Marriott Platinum at least through Feb 2019. If, during the course of 2018, he reaches 50 nights (SPG nights + Marriott nights + credit card elite nights) then he should be Platinum through Feb 2020. As to whether or not it's worth it? I've tried to read up on Flyertalk and Marriott Insiders to see if Platinum status gets you much at properties I'm interested in, and it seems very YMMV. I would imagine it really depends on how full the hotel is when you're staying there.

If he stays at Hiltons for the rest of the year, at Diamond level he earns 20pts/$1 Hilton spend on stays, right? How many Hilton points could he amass, and can you assign a ballpark value to what those points are worth to you so you can compare that to what you think you'd gain from him reaching Marriott Platinum?

Hmmnnnn, so I added it up. He has earned 197,442 this year thru end of April on stays. That was 38 nights and 29 stays.

Of course, the promo changes every few months, so I guess it would vary. They also just changed the earning and added bonuses to the honors program. But let’s just assume he’d earn another 400k or so this year if he stuck with Hilton.

I have tried to find blogs or forums with info on maxing business travel but I can’t find anything specific to sticking with one program or diversifying after you reach status.

I’d like to have a total of at least 380k, and possibly 760k stashed for 2 rooms at Grand Wailea so we can hop on SW flights when they are released. (Or another line if the prices drop across the competition.) Currently we have 180k banked and another 260k holding a tentative fall beach trip.

However, I’d like to earn some starriott as well at some point so we can start trying different properties and locations for our leisure travel. We have our fave Hilton redemptions that we do repeatedly and I am starting to tire of them.

He has a welcome offer to earn 7500 or so SPG points after his first couple stays, so I think we will do those for sure the week after next. Then I can figure out what to do for the remainder of the year.

ETA: I may get him the amex hilton biz next. I like his hotel stays getting me 3x UR on CSR, but the amex would be good to top off with the bonus points and earn extra hilton points on stays for awhile to rack up enough for Wailea.
