I love credit cards so much!

That's what I was hoping! I still have Barclay travel $$ and I want to use them soon b/c my 1-year will be coming up.
I was looking at the Discovery Cove ones. Not only are they a decent discount IMO, but then I could redeem almost $150 towards it from Barclay...

LOL so true: "Unlike DoC, none of the major travel websites are reporting the new Marriott card. I guess those affiliate links aren’t ready..."

I haven't seen any mention of the new Marriott Rewards Premier Plus card on TPG, MMS, OMAAT, VFTW. DoC and FrequentMiler have articles up.

Thanks. This is what I was looking for. We really just want a nice place for pools and the beach. Keep getting mixed reviews on Atlantis and how busy it is and the extra fees so this may be the way to go. 20,000 Hyatt points does not sound that bad. Do you know if you can book on points a few days before. Would love to know what the weather will be like before booking but not sure that is possible...

I don't know the answers to your Hyatt questions, but here is my input on Atlantis. We booked Comfort Suites a few years ago when we went on a Disney cruise. If you go that route, definitely know all the extra fees before booking the room but it is still much cheaper than booking through the cruise line. Our girls enjoyed Atlantis! The lazy river is very fast, not lazy at all. It was very crowded and the food was incredibly expensive. My biggest issue is that most of the water rides are in enclosed tubes and I get more and more claustrophobic each year. We ended up doing a bounce back offer a few months later and just stayed on the boat during our stay in Nassau. There is so much to do on the boat!

I'll take your DP and love it! If so that would make my night a cat 1-5 on Xmas day and I would have time to book the room I want before it changes on 1/19. Maybe. I don't know. I am finally totally confused by SPG/Marriott. I just want this to be over. I've been SPG for 20 years and it was always so civilized with great customer service. Now it's just not feeling that great and special.

Don't know how it happened this way but hubby's comes on 12/1 and also expires on 12/1 each year. It's possible he applied 12/1 but that would just be too convenient. But I also remember his cert would expire in like Aug way back when because I would complain about IHG giving me a full year or more to use mine but Marriott only like 8 or 9 months to use his. So we might not be helpful :)

So Dh has one more stay, after tonight, to re-up diamond at Hilton for next year (30 days).

I am on the fence with having him switch to starriott now to earn status there after next week. We have never done that before, but I have never obsessed over points until this year. (Maybe slightly addicted:rolleyes1)

He got the SPG biz so got the 5 nights credits (2 stays i think) from that. So would the best bet be to do SPG stays now and try to hit platinum (23 more stays) by Aug 1 and that would turn into Marriott platinum through Feb 2020? I'm not sure marriott plat is even that great over gold. We won't use the 48hr guarantee. I guess the breakfast would be nice, but only on the occasional leisure trip. He doesn't need free breakfast for work trips. Oh, the extra point earning rate would be good. Hmmnnn...

Extra point earning is probably key. Especially since most of his stays are reimbursed by someone else, that's just free money in my book.

How do I find when/if the $495 fee was charged for DH CSR? They just charged it on 5/1. I find it odd because he got the card as a CSP in 2/2016, (so I'd assume the $95 fee was charged 3/16 or so) and he upgraded to a CSR 11/17. I see a partial fee refund on the 11/17 statement. Do I have to go back through every transaction to make sure another $495 fee wasn't charged at that time? Seems like an awful long delay. He gets the travel credit again in Nov according to the site.

ETA: looks like first fee for the card as a CSP was 3/1/17, on anniversary. Then refunded prorated amount in 11/17 when upgraded to CSR. I don't see they ever charged the CSR fee, so I guess just now doing it. Wonder why it took so long. Oh well, just glad I didn't pay it twice.

That's pretty much what happened when I PC'd my SW Plus to a Premier. They said since it was an increase they couldn't charge it right away but she said it would be in like 90 days on the March stmt. Well March came and went, then Apr, then May... finally in Aug I got the charge. So my anniversary points hit end of Dec/first of Jan but my AF doesn't post until Aug. Which means I forget about it and wonder why I have a statement

I saw that on DoC and went  Dang nabbit! I just got that ! But then I read it and saw the extra 30k spend to get the extra 30k and instantly felt all better. I really feel his title was click bait :)

Same!!

ETA: NVM, can't use by the date. I read it wrong earlier.

The account type will list as Home Equity Line of Credit vs. Credit Card so it should be easy for the bank (or bank’s computer system) to differentiate. Both will list in the revolving accounts section though. Unless somebody can cite a personal DP that a HELOC counted towards 5/24 I will maintain that it shouldn’t count. :)

I'm behind, so I don't know if this has already been resolved, but I wanted to add our data point to the mix. We closed on a HELOC (with Chase, so they definitely knew about it) in March, the same month that my dh went down to 4/24. He was approved for a SW card at the beginning of April. If the HELOC was being counted, he would have been at 5/24 at that point.

Tomorrow, I'll be applying for the CSR, so I'll let you know if it causes a problem for me. I'm currently at 4/24.

They must have added some with restricted date. I was sure they were good until the end of the year originally, and I knew they sold out. Looked on some blogger sites and they were good til Dec. I guess they added more with restricted dates? We're looking at September though.

Did you already bank with Chase in getting the HELOC? Just curious if they gave you any incentive. I keep getting notices to get UR's for a mortgage. If they would give me UR's for a HELOC or a home equity loan I would be sorely tempted...

No UR's, unfortunately. They just offer a discount on the rate if you bank with them (I think .25%?).

Went for my 2nd Citi AA personal a year after I closed my first using a code from someone on Reddit for a 60k offer. Messaged Citi today requesting to be matched to 75k and they messaged me back I'd see 15k miles credit to my AA account in the next few business days! (This is well known to my Reddit peeps but I know many on here prefer to avoid that crazy :) worth remembering 15k is the most they will match.)
Edit: JK, someone on DoC just reported being matched from 50k to 70k.

I think I “need” a citi biz card next

Still catching up on the thread. So Adventures by Disney released their dates and itinerary for the new Japan trip next year. Holy price tag Batman! I see many Disney gift cards and credit cards this year.

Can you believe that a significant part of the which dates to choose on booking day was influenced by when award flights would be released and my learning curve on figuring out what points/miles I need to get there. I tried entering mock flights on British Airways to see if I could book Cathay Pacific on that route with AA. I swear the website gave me side eye. This should be interesting.

Sorry to interrupt but I figured this group is the best place to ask- is there an Annual Passholder thread on these forums anywhere? I am seriously considering them but trying to decide if it's the best option for us and have some questions!

I’m working on 2019 vacations. Going to pick up a few more bank bonuses to cover last 1k of cruise. Have points to book air, hotel and excursions. Have booked 5 nights at Swan for Spring Break 2019, need to work on airfare. Was planning on SW CP but too soon now with 24 month restrictions.

Is it too early to start collecting miles for 2021 trip to China?

There isn't a thread just pops up on questions in the theme park thread. We have had AP's since first upgrading tickets in 2013. Was staggering them but renewed this last fall. If you want to pm me I can try to answer your questions. I am an WDW AP addict. Sad but true.

OMG - you guys are on it with your 2019 plans.

I am dying to finish up the Hawaii stuff for October, but I'm waiting for my Marriott Biz MSR to be done. Unfortunately for us, we won't make it this statement, but will with the June closing. So when I get back from my vacation in June, I should be able to start the point shuffle to get my Hawaiian airlines points and book those tickets. It's driving me bananas to not have anything reserved yet!

On a similar note, I was talking to DH about prices on the 2 BR room we'll need for Hawaii (we are hoping that our moms will agree to come along!). The garden view sold out on the UR portal, so next is partial ocean view - therefore the price went up. It added another $400 to the cash difference we would need. Since there's rumors of Chase not letting you combine points, I told him we need to move his over to mine (I have the CSR). So with his points, we could use all points, no cash. He tells me "Well, the idea was to pay as little as possible for this trip, wasn't it?" So now I think we're going to combine points....and with what would be left, we'll have enough to cover the cash airfare we had left. But it does make me sad that ALL of our UR points would be gone.

And this is also the man that is not fond of the CC game. But a $9000 Hawaii vacation with the moms it pretty sweet when it would just cost $3000 (some excursions, car, food). Right honey?!
