I love credit cards so much!

I think you're totally right about that!
Here's how I was able to sign up on the Honors site today:
Log in - View Promotions (still says I'm not signed up for anything) - My Available Offers tab - "More Details" button on 2x package image - "Sign Up Now" link on left side of page - Log in again - It now says I'm registered

Ok I did the same steps and it says "you're all set" again, so I'm going to assume I am since this is like the 6th time  But at least I did it all within the account so there's got to be some type of tracking. I guess we'll both find out soon enough. Thanks!

I was wondering who blueskyandgoodwine was. So @gottalovepluto any tips? Am I just SOL?

If can't be done do I finish off my SPG biz spend or get 3 points on CSR?
General Tip here - if you aren't sure who somebody is on Reddit (since some people have different names) use the Member List: https://www.reddit.com/r/DISchurners/comments/85gzon/member_list_and_discussion_thread/

It shows both names for every DISchurner member :D

Many of our major contributors here use different names there: @gottalovepluto @calypso726 @peel, @speedyfishy to name a few :)

I was looking at the Plastiq chart on FrequentMiler site to determine who I can and can not pay using the CIP. Most of them say ‘with prep’. :confused3. Utilities, misc bills, contractors (we have rental properties so I could definitely use that). Also, mgt. with Wells Fargo- saw that info on DISchurner-is that still ok-anyone tried recently?

Trying to maximze rewards as best as I can..

My Wells Fargo mortgage went through the first month, but was denied in month #2 (same with the Chase Mortgage). I've paid my son's college rent, his electric bill, my car payment (to credit union) and a contractor with no issues. Good luck!

You don't have a CIP right? That's the most obvious card for your situation.

The CIP has a $5k MSR/3 months for 80k UR.

Will your contractor take a check or P2P payment via Venmo instead?

The CIP earns 3x UR on Plastiq (2.5% fee) and Venmo (3% fee), thus negating (and even putting you ahead of) the fee.

So for example, the contractor invoices you $3,600.

Via Plastiq, you would set up a payment to your contractor for $3,600, incur a 2.5% fee of $90, and a check is delivered to your contractor in 7-10 days. However, because payments and fees on Plastiq currently earn 3x UR when charged to the CIP, you'll earn 3x $3,690 or 11,070 UR points worth $110.70 in cash (as a statement credit or bank deposit) or $138.37 when redeemed for travel on the CSP or CIP (and as much as $166.05 if you transfer the points to a CSR and redeem them through the UR Portal).

ETA: If you're new to Plastiq and you sign up using a DISchurner link, you can earn $500 fee free dollars ("FFD") after you've made your first $500 or more payment. That means the second time you use Plastiq, they'll waive the fee on $500 of your next payment (worth $12.50).

Via Venmo, your contractor gets paid $3,600 instantly and you eat the 3% ($108) fee. However, since Venmo earns 3x UR on fees and payments when charged to the CIP, you're looking at 3x $3,708 or 11,124 UR points worth $111.24 in cash, or $139.05 in travel redeemed on a CSP/CIP, or $166.86 in travel redeemed on a CSR.

The CIP's signup bonus of 80,000 UR points is $800 in cash, or $1,000 in travel redeemed on a CSP/CIP, or $1,200 in travel redeemed on a CSR.
Thanks for all the tips.. no CIP here. I am 8/24 and DH denied for CIC a month ago. I have used Plastiq (most recently for car payment to credit union) so I’m not opposed to it. I might have to think of another card besides Chase that I can apply for in the next couple days.

It looks metal.

ETA: Yep, there’s a one-Marriott consumer card rule:
  • The product is not available to either (i) current cardmembers of the Marriott Rewards Premier or Marriott Rewards Premier Plus credit card, or (ii) previous cardmembers of the Marriott Rewards Premier or Marriott Rewards Premier Plus credit card who received a new cardmember bonus within the last 24 months
Marriott Business should be okay, correct?

DH just applied for the Marriott Premier (he has the Biz) and it went pending, I'm guessing we're going to have to move some credit around. If he calls he can give me permission to do the recon. call correct?

Ack!! I've been on vacay, just came back and saw this.

So I found the original message on the Dischurners board From blueskyandgoodwine:

TICKETS ONLY through the Cruise and Tour Department - can purchase select WDW tickets using UR points this way. Call Chase travel and request the Cruise and Tour Dept, the normal travel dept cannot book these and will tell you WDW tickets can't be booked through Chase- so don't waste your time with them, just ask to be transferred right off the bat. Prices are what you'd pay booking online with Disney. One quirk, I was looking for 8 day tickets and the rep said he could get me 7 day or 10 day (and most of the days leading up to 7 sorry I wasn't really listening to that part) so not every ticket is available. The quote I received today was 34,800 UR using my 1.5x CSR redemption for a 7 day PH, the cash cost was quoted at $522.

The lady at the cruise and tours department said that we must book a package. She put us on hold and asked a supervisor and they too said ticket only could not be done. She transferred us to the flight/hotel/activities center and they too could not help us. They did say they occasionally get Disney tickets on the activities page but it is not very frequent and we must just continually check the website.

I am very bummed. Was really hoping for a almost zero cost Disney trip.
I will try this myself again tomorrow. I'll try to get back to the exact person I had before. If this is like transferring Disney reservations some cruise dept reps can do it and others swear it is absolutely impossible so I'm hoping that's what you encountered. Did you HUCA or just push with the one rep until they went to a supervisor? People who transfer cruise and room reservations to Chase from Disney have had issues with reps swearing it just cant be done, HUCAing and eventually finding a rep who could do it. This experience was so common the extensions of some of the reps who were good at this have been shared by our members. As for supervisors, I've encountered plenty in my life who were far less competent than some of their workers so the sup response doesn't concern me that much. As for the activities/hotel dept they are beyond useless, Disney tickets have NEVER* been spotted on the UR portal. I'll try my purchase tomorrow and report the results here, if it works I'll share the extension/name of the person who helped me on our Reddit thread regarding this topic if they're cool with me sharing.
ETA: *to my knowledge. Which is not as extensive as I think it is but I would have bet money on this one & I’m not a betting person! (Which is a good thing because I can’t afford to gamble right now considering the extra money I’m going to be scrapping up for tickets if the UR thing doesn’t work now, gah! First Best Buy, now maybe Chase- the world apparently went to hell when I was gone! Maybe I should say screw it and just go back to the beach )

So a bit :offtopic: but I’m stressing out because my rental property needs a new roof. Best estimate I have is $3600. Long story, but the property is rented for the amount I pay in taxes and insurance, I don’t make a profit at all, so a new roof is a losing proposition. I’d did think about the option of buying the shingles myself, but the property is 25 miles from me and I can only get there on weekends, plus physically getting the shingles there is a pain. So to the point, if I got a new card would the 3% the contractor will charge for a cc worth it if I’m meeting MSR?

Can you do AMEX for this? Maybe it’s time to look into AMEX MRs. You could do a BGR (Business Gold Rewards) Card.

Alamo code from Daily Getaways worked today! Tried it as soon as I got home hoping it was fixed and it WORKED! I never heard back from the Daily Getaways people even when I emailed them again a day or two ago asking if they'd fixed it.

But boy did I come off the high of that finally working as soon as I hopped on here to see poor @WVMomof3 trials with getting park tickets with URs! I will get on that as soon as I get a chance! That would definitely mess stuff up for me as well!

Much to catch up on, looking forward to reading y'alls shenanigans for the last couple days ;)

Yup. But remember that Marriott Biz is not subject to the 5/24 rule. Amex is supposed to get Stariott’s business card, but since it looks like Amex will continue issuing the SPG Personal until Marriott/SPG/Ritz-Carlton all merge under one brand, I’m thinking Chase will continue issuing the Marriott Biz until then too.

The new Marriott Premier Plus? Fingers crossed! Yes, if it comes to recon, just have DH say something like, “Can you speak to my wife? I give her authority to speak for me. She’s much more familiar with the financial stuff anyway.”

The original Marriott Premier - we are only short 60K Marriott points for the flight & hotel package - so we went with the regular since it will be easier to meet the MSR.

I don’t know. Amex is kind of hard. I just finished SPG Biz MSR and it took me a bit longer than usual.
I have SPG personal and Biz, & Hilton, plus Chase Freedom, Hyatt, SW, Disney,(just cancelled Marriott) Plus Aviator, Discover. Had Citi AA, cancelled recently.
DH has BOA Premium Rewards, CSP, CFU, SW, Citi AA.
DH has had CitiBusiness AA but I have not. We primarily fly AA and SW so maybe CitiBusiness AA for me.
I will look into MRs

I would try again maybe you got a poor rep or this is a new policy? When I called last week they said I could get Disneyland tickets at another time. Hopefully this isn’t a new policy.

I was also thinking of recommending the Amex Business Rewards Gold (“BRG”) card if @CyndiLouWho can get a 75,000 MR offer for $5,000 (or even $10,000) MSR. The standard public offer is only 50,000 MR for $5,000 MSR/3 months. The first year AF is waived.

DoC had a recent article with links to see if you’re targeted for the 75k MR/$5k MSR offer: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/ymmv...ewards-75000-5000-spend-no-lifetime-language/

And if that doesn’t work, you can always call in and try to ask for the offer: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/see-american-express-business-bonus-like-call/

Since you have a legitimate rental business, I wouldn’t hesitate to call into Amex, request a better offer, and have them take your application over the phone. Remember, the application only asks for revenue, not profit so don’t wrap yourself around the fact that your rentals only cover costs.

One of the highlights of this card is you pick one of the following to earn 3x MR on purchases in that category, and 2x MR on the other categories:
  • Airfare purchased directly from airlines
  • U.S. purchases for advertising in select media
  • U.S. purchases at gas stations
  • U.S. purchases for shipping
  • U.S. computer hardware, software, and cloud computing purchases made directly from select providers

You don't go through Cruise and Tour, look for Activities in Orlando just as you would hotel or airfare, etc. I can't remember the exact steps, I'll go check in a few minutes.

ETA: I'm not seeing them now, but I have in the past. I just put in my trip dates and there are so many things you can book in Orlando with UR. This is my plan B for Universal tickets which are showing up.
Only Univ tickets have shown on there in the past (besides a million other things to do in Orlando that weren’t Disney- one of which was Kennedy Space Center in case anyone is heading there), but they didn’t used to show one day Univ tickets (although someone on Reddit said they got one day tickets to Univ by calling through to the Cruise Dept. I didn’t try that myself not being interested in Univ right now).
