WOOHOO! I got the Lowe's offer on 4 of my 5 cards! 3 of them were get $10 off $50 and 1 was get 1,000 MR for $50. Three of them also had an additional Lowe's offer for get an extra MR point for purchases at Lowe's. So that will be $200 in Disney gift cards for OOP cost of $170 and earning 1300 MR points and 50 SPG points. Not bad! DH had the offers on 5 of his 6 Amex cards. Happy dance for Amex offers!

I was bummed to see it on only 1 of 3 cards. :(

Why do I feel like the only one on this thread that has never been to Hawaii or has no current plans for Hawaii! I have never really had any desire to go, but Y'all are making me change my mind. lol
I’ll join your party...Hawaii is potentially a distant vision of mine. We haven’t been and definitely don’t have an imminent trip planned.

When I say I went 'a long time ago', I mean it lol. I was a late teen so my dh & kids have never been. I was blessed to have an aunt (she's now a TA) who was way before her time. My uncle had a home-based business where he sold very expensive dental equipment to dentist so he was putting 100k month spend on his credit card and using cards that had good rewards. Most of the Hawaii trip was covered with points. They only have one son so they invited me to go on many of their vacations.

I have never been. For our anniversary next year I gave DH choice of Alaska or Hawaii. He chose Alaska. Plus DS says he won’t go to Hawaii because we might die if a volcano erupts (he is king of worriers) Ironically when we took DS to Costa Rica at age 3, his bucket list was entirely composed of seeing a volcano.(he’s now 9)

Ok, I need a little input. Trying to slow down my churning but already jonesing for a new card and I got my last one 2 weeks ago.
Here’s what I have
SW Plus 7/16
Marriott 3/17
Disney 7/17
Hyatt 9/17
SPG personal 4/16
Hilton 5/17
SPG Biz 2/18
Discover 12/17
Aviator 9/17
AU on mom’s Amex
Plus another Discover (30yrs old), Chase Freedom, Target Red Card, Sears Citi wTY Points, all >2 yrs

DH has
CFU 10/16
CSP 5/17
SW Plus 7/17
AA Citi Biz 2/17
BOA Premium Rewards 1/18

Obviously I am way over 5/24 and will be for a while. Trying to stick to biz cards for now for me.
DH is 4/24, correct? The Citi Biz doesn’t count? Plan is keeping him there to try for CP with SW cards in November. But can he apply for CIP?
I was thinking Delta Biz for me next month or is that too soon? Amex pulled credit from my personal cards when they approved my SPG Biz last month. Will I get approved for a second Amex Biz? I figured I might be able to use Delta for Vancouver flights in 2019 or worse case turn the SkyPesos into Target GC ala @SouthFayetteFan
We have AA miles, SW miles, URpoints, SPG points and a few TY points. Still accumulating cash back and Disney GCs for cruise.
CIP for your husband could make sense. It won’t affect his 5/24 status :)

It’s also never too soon for another AMEX card in my book hahaha! If you got Delta biz you could then refer your husband too and go big on delta points LOL!

So 45 days between apps should be ok? I am half way thru the SPG Biz spend thanks to property taxes and insurance on rental property. Also, should I reduce credit lines on theamex personal cards or just let Amex do that?

Why not wait until you’re closer to done with SPG? (Although 45 days prob isn’t an issue). I’ve never reduced a CL on any AMEX cards and never had an issue getting approved. :) Good luck!!

I was wondering if I could get two checking accounts so I could get the bonus! How do you get two? Just open another? Does it need to be in a different name? Our checking account is joint with both dh & I on the account.
I tried and it stated when i login i my account I was not eligible and I only have one checking with them. Unless i did something wrong and should not login.

Lain, I wish I had a cruise planned. I have the $100 back on $500 cruise deal on THREE cards. I would split the payment and save a bundle. Oh well. Hopefully someone else can benefit.
I have that offer as well, but for my carnival cruise in may i had already purchase discounted gift cards through AARP for the cost and i could not justified saving $500 for a possibility that i may spend that on the cruise. I wish the offer was good for DCL for i am still paying on that one

The current AMEX Delta offer expires 4/11, which would be about 7 weeks from SPG approval. I should be about done with SPG spend by then.

What would you recommend as a good primer to MR points valuations? It takes us a while to earn up points so I haven't really looked into what we can get for travel or transfers. I know it's all subjective, but I'd like to get a good idea of when a good value crosses my path so I don't miss out. Or I trade in 6 years worth of points for economy minus and then come to find out here that I could have traded those instead for that Air Force One package (haha)
My only frame of reference is what we get for gift cards every couple years which is 1 cpp for most, but the "good" ones are now around .6. And I know, I know, it's like nails on a chalk board to you guys I imagine but I don't regret my free snowblower hubby bought me with Home Depot gift cards he cashed in. Every winter I send a little of thought thanks to AmEx for that. :)

Everybody has a different perception of value - and if YOU are happy with what you got for redemption - thats all that matters. :)

I'd love to get some opinions on my best option for some Delta flights later this year. Planning to take my mom to NYC in December for the weekend. The flights I'm looking at online are $128 per person. Should I

1. pay oop with CSR/whatever I'm meeting an MSR on at the time?
2. burn some UR points that I'm saving for my Disney vacation (depending on timing, I may have already used up these UR points).
3. get something like Delta Amex (preferably business so as to not interfere with 5/24 maybe?? I don't have any Amex yet so someone tell me if I'm wrong).
4. Other.

TIA!
The point values are 12,000 each. Not too sure how Delta point values work if that's a good rate or not.

I'd definitely pay for the tickets...the way I look at it (and Delta values their points) is a skymile=$0.01/mile so that's 12000 skymiles PLUS 5.60 in fees so basically paying with miles is $125.60 versus paying $128 and earning miles. Now, if you never plan on using skymiles or are wanting to save money then that's another story. But with such a low fare I'd pay OOP and bank any miles earned on an amex spend.

Agree, there are great Delta sign ups now. But a Delta flight for only $128? I could never get a flight for that, not even double that out of here, so unless the point values are crazy low, not sure I would use points for that. Do you know what the points are for those flights?

Me neither, not even to ATL. Oh well, the price of living where I do :)

Speaking of that credit, do I buy the $50 gc on deltas site? I don't see myself purchasing a ticket before the credit expires

Yes, go to the website, and can resell (I do that regularly since no one in my family appreciates Delta GC for every single holiday :rolleyes1).

Eh, depending on your background (I lived in the Caribbean and now live on the Emerald Coast), not everyone loves it. It's been a dream of my mother's for decades and I think she's going to be seriously disappointed after she visits in May. Everyone's definition of paradise is different (One of my oft quoted lines is "Is this Heaven? No, it's Iowa! If I hadn't remarried I'd be living there with cattle as neighbors.) :)

I need to do this. I am flying Delta in September, but I don't think there is anything I would be able to use the credit for on those flights.

I use random airline credits to upgrade to first from my home airport to ATL-that's essentially a "free" upgrade for the delicious chocolate caramel shortbread cookies...or pay for an extra bag fee (assuming you have 1 free from an amex dl card) or...yeah, probably a gc is the best idea ::yes::

I wanted that offer SOOOOO bad and didn't get one!!! I would have planned a cruise right away!

I am sooo sorry-we had probably 5 or 6 between my cards and my AUs. Wish I could have transferred them to you!
