A couple things were easier to find for me but all in all I agree. I don't like the new stuff designed for more touchscreen thingies (supposedly), somehow I have to 'touch' the screen more often than before they "optimized" it... not sure how that makes it better.
But on another note, I was going to tag you as I believe your DH is working for a small sized company looking for travel discounts? I have no personal knowledge of this service, but one of the societies I belong to just sent out info on Hotel Engine (hotelengine.com). It was designed for small to mid sized business to join up and get hotel discounts like big corporate clients get. One the FAQ's did say some hotels may consider it a 3rd party booking and thus don't earn rewards points so you'd have to check with the hotels to see how it gets classed. But thought I'd mention it if he wants to offer it as a option to his boss, assuming you'd still get the rewards points of course. (the business joins and can then add employees as users or something like that)
Lain, I wish I had a cruise planned. I have the $100 back on $500 cruise deal on THREE cards. I would split the payment and save a bundle. Oh well. Hopefully someone else can benefit. Most people are using points, but with all this Hawaii talk I thought I'd mention I have an Amex deal on two of my cards for $200 off $1000 at Hilton Hawaii locations.
I hope mine goes like that, it's next on my list! Congrats! Also it's pretty awesome that your sewing machine deal will also earn you credit card sign up bonuses on top of extra $$!Well, I applied for the CIP online. Once I hit submit, I got a message to call in and give a reference number. They asked to verify my identity using text message and then put me on hold for 2 minutes. The service rep got back on the line and said, "Congratulations, you have been approved." No questions at all about my business. YAY!
I don't know if I ever saw a response when I asked this or maybe I missed it: adding my DH as an AU on my SPG will NOT count against his 5/24 status, right?
I don't want to burn a precious 5/24 spot.
I'd love to get some opinions on my best option for some Delta flights later this year. Planning to take my mom to NYC in December for the weekend. The flights I'm looking at online are $128 per person. Should I
1. pay oop with CSR/whatever I'm meeting an MSR on at the time?
2. burn some UR points that I'm saving for my Disney vacation (depending on timing, I may have already used up these UR points).
3. get something like Delta Amex (preferably business so as to not interfere with 5/24 maybe?? I don't have any Amex yet so someone tell me if I'm wrong).
4. Other.
TIA!
I don't think this has been mentioned yet...
There is a new Iberia Visa Signature credit card from Chase that appears to not be subject to the 5/24 rule.
50K Avios with $3K MSR in 3 months
Additional 25K Avios after $10K MSR in the first year
$95 AF (not waived)
(via DoC)
Agree, there are great Delta sign ups now. But a Delta flight for only $128? I could never get a flight for that, not even double that out of here, so unless the point values are crazy low, not sure I would use points for that. Do you know what the points are for those flights?I'm not familiar with Delta flights or the points necessary but there are some good signup bonuses right now. I just got the Delta Gold biz which has a 50k bonus with 2k spend. I think if you spend another 1k (in 6 mos), you get another 10k. And it has a $50 statement credit if you spend $50 in first 3 mos (GC's work). AF waived first year.

Does seem like a super good price! I definitely wouldn't burn UR for it but depending on how much use you have for Delta, I might be willing just to lower my OOP cost. I agree though, if you could use Delta points on a more $$ flight, then probably not a good use.
There are some great AMEX offers out right now if you can take advantage. I saw the $45 after $250 spend at Curio collection/Hilton and the $10 off $50 at Lowes on my Platinum card. There's also a $100 off $500 on various cruise lines. Just added a Kimpton one too. Spend $300 at Kimpton and get back $60.
DH got an instant acct number for his Hilton card. I also got them for my Capital One cards: Venture and Quicksilver. You just need to download the CapOne app.I have a big purchase I have to make today for work. Any cards that would give me an instant number? Online people mention Amex. Just wondering if people get one for the SPG
That is a good point value, they used to do pretty much 25000 minimum, but now they offer lower point flights. If you did that, you would still have quite a few points left for future flights, 36000 if you did the 60k Biz offer. But you would want to meet the MSR quickly if you can as Deltas points values can change in the blink of an eye. That's the card I was looking at. I could get that spend done fairly quickly, so that wouldn't be an issue. The point values are 12,000 each. Not too sure how Delta point values work if that's a good rate or not. I could get the card and use those points another time as Delta is a pretty good option for us, but would rather focus on earning more UR points. I won't suffer if I have to buy those tickets oop since it is such a good rate (and that's pricing it from now until December!) but just wanted to make sure I'm not missing something.

Speaking of that credit, do I buy the $50 gc on deltas site? I don't see myself purchasing a ticket before the credit expires.

Is that 12k RT? And the $128 is RT?
