After applying in flight for the Aviator Red Aadvantage card I checked online today and I was approved! :yay: Now if it will hurry up and get here! Lol

IIRC it took about 10 days from application for it to arrive at our house. If you are in a hurry for the miles, make your first purchase right away, and pay off the purchase and AF before the first statement if you can (get your account set up online). Otherwise you have to wait until the 2nd statement closes for the bonus miles to post. My statement closing date was 31 days from application date.

I have an award on hold that expires in 5 hours. My Aviator statement that closed yesterday shows that the bonus miles posted on my statement BUT my AAdvantage account does not reflect this so I'm probably going to lose these flights. Sucks.

Yes, unless you can find a free membership code, which are pretty easy to get. I got mine via the following when I did it in May:

Thanks! I'll be on the lookout.

DW still has ~$295 travel credit on her CSR that we planned to use on a hotel room for a quick Halloweentime trip to Disneyland. But Amex has a $50 statement credit offer on $250+ at Hilton that we could use too, and we still need tickets for our little one. If I can use the CSR travel credit to cover the ticket, and get $50 off our room -- win/win!

BIG THANKS to you two! This wasn't even on my radar an hour ago, and here I am signed up! I love this community!

Not sure if you've been to DLR before, but a hotel across the street is the way to go. No shuttle, short walk. It is soo not WDW Lol.

Oh, we're Disneyland vets. We make the trip down at least four times a year. My wife and I have Signature APs, but the math really doesn't make sense for us to get our LO her own AP yet. We have upcoming trips in late October for Halloweentime, and over Thanksgiving week to catch all the holiday decorations and really get us in that festive mood. Favorite times of the year in the parks!

When we're there, we usually stay at the Hilton (my wife picks up a good amount of points traveling for work, and we have Gold status so free breakfast and upgrades), and it isn't that bad of a walk; or the Candy Cane Inn, which is cute, clean, an even shorter walk, and includes breakfast!

Our October stay is at the Hilton on a mix of points and cash, and I'm trying get the best deal out of paying that last ~$250. We were going to just put it on my wife's CSR to finally use up her travel credit (when she travels, she gets/has to expense everything to a company card), but that would be leaving $50 savings on the table if we don't use the Amex Offer, which represents ~20% savings on the cash portion of our hotel stay. Since I jump on Disney Gift Card deals at 10-15%, anyway, I can't ignore a ~20% savings. If I pay for the room with an Amex to use the offer, then I can use up the CSR travel credit on Disneyland tickets for our LO if LMT codes as travel. Then we can save our stash of Disney Gift Cards for other things like dining or souvenirs.

I just checked LMT Club's website for Disneyland tickets and compared them to Disneyland .com. LMT Club: 3-Day Park Hopper for Child is $276.75; Disneyland is $303.00. $26.25 savings!!!

Thanks! We just take advantage of the sign up bonuses, spending categories, rewards dining, the odd survey and of course the online shopping portals. They all add up. I do follow some of the travel hacker bloggers to learn more. Believe me, we barely scratch the surface on this travel hacking game. Ooh, a 4 hour drive is a tough pill to swallow. Ah yes, the things we do for love :-)

This is all new to me. The extent of it I mean. We've gotten plenty of free flights, and sign up bonuses, but had no idea there was so much else out there! How did you get started? Are there websites to check to learn the ins and outs? I don't think I could ever achieve your expertise, but I would very much like to improve my knowledge.

Also, I was wondering if most people pay off their many credit cards each month? If not, that would negate much of the gain I would suppose. We only have a couple of credit cards by choice and use them very specifically and pay them off each month. We are debt free including no mortgage and tend to pay cash for everything. HOWEVER....we would be disciplined enough to work the "hacking" i we understood it more clearly.

This has been quite an eye opener!

What on earth am I doing wrong? I just signed up (thanks for the link!) I don't see DL tickets anywhere.

Click "Activities" enter "Anaheim, California" (should autofill), and date(s). Disneyland tickets should pop up right after Knott's Berry Farm tickets.

I can put in dates for December and see DL tickets but if I put in our May 2018 dates, nothing comes up. I am wondering how far out they have tickets. I'd want to be buying ours as soon as my CSR travel credit is available.

Does anyone know the expiration date on the Disneyland tickets from LMT? Maybe you can email to ask?

Somewhere in the fine print it gives you an expiration date. You don't need to put in your exact date. Their website seems a little glitchy to me but we bought tickets this time last year that expired December 2017 (over a year from purchase). However in Jan 2017, they were selling WDW tix which expired December 2017, while UCT was selling no expiration tix, so you do have to watch.

ETA: I just looked and can't find expiration dates for their tix either, so I would email if interested. The dates you pick don't matter unless you're doing a one day ticket and then the price varies by date.

I can put in dates thru April, but it only matters if you're buying a one day ticket. Otherwise they're all the same.
