I love credit cards so much!

I sent out, last week, a test payment to Navy Federal for our mortgage. I entered the address as noted on the payment coupon and it sent without issue. Waiting for it to credit to see if it works. Have some spending on my new business SPG to meet. Currently spend $0, left to spend $7,000. 8-)
**Update** Realized that payment was linked to my Discover...just tried a Visa and it didn't like it. I have to get creative now. Do you guys change the recipient type to something other than Real Estate for your payments?

Question about SPG points. Will the points be in an SPG account or are they tied right to Amex? Let's say I cancel the card in a year, will the points be forfeited?

The points stay in your SPG account even if you cancel your card.
Yup - once they transfer they are yours! That's the case with all co-brand cards that I know of (Southwest, Marriott, SPG, Hilton, etc...) One thing to remember...if you are cancelling the card just make sure all your points have transferred first if you recently had a statement close :) It can take a couple of days for the points to actually appear in your SPG (or whatever) account.

Help please experts! @Lain especially I know you are so familiar with Chase and were looking for data points. I applied for CIP on Sunday. 30 day message. Yesterday when I called the line it was 14 days. Today I got a call from Chase. I didn't answer the first phone, but then they called my other number so despite the fact I was in the car I answered. Verifying information. I put just my income on the application not that of DH. (I don't know why I didn't add it, other than honestly I was probably overthinking it). At any rate they called to "check a couple things." The "couple things" ended up going over the entire application. It started with them telling me they have already extended as much credit as they are going too. I said to add DH's income. I don't know if that will make a difference. It then went into details about business. Since it is a "business" which I ended up qualifying as best I could as online sales it was a little ridiculous. (I.e. "you said $50 as income where did that money come from? what did you sell and too how many.") He ended up saying that they will send it up for review and let me know in 10 to 14 days. For the record I am 4/24 and just checked showing credit score of 841 on Experian.

So. What do you think? Should I call Chase at this point and just tell them to withdraw the application? This is my first business card with Chase. Despite all your assurances I was already worried about the nature of the spend coming under the microscope...and now this. I am so tempted to withdraw it, maybe try sometime in the future and for now just get the SPG Amex business.

They can’t? So since I have my delta points in my account form the delta business they can’t take it away?
I don't believe I've ever seen a viable DP suggesting a card took points back out of somebody's loyalty account. Obviously things like MRs and URs are different but once they transfer I'm not sure how they can claw it back... I'm guessing that's part of the contract with SPG, etc. because the brand doesn't want to have the negative publicity of somebody getting points taken back :)

Excellent, thanks! I was kinda hoping that was the case. I'm assuming if I go to a Shell station to buy the gift cards that'll code as a gasoline category on Discover and I'm all set then, right?
I just remembered that some places split the pumps from the convenience store so they get different categories. :(
I don't know about that because I always buy them at grocery stores or Best Buy when I can get 5x UR with the Freedom.

u signed up for that shell account right? 5 cents back!
And if you shop at Stop & Shop (or Giant, I think), link your Fuel Rewards to your grocery rewards to stack the discounts.

Woohoo!! Is your mortgage set to auto pay? I think we had to set ours to autopay when we got our mortgage... we also just refinanced a car with them and made sure not to enroll in auto pay. Also got $200 bonus.

Do you mind sharing how you entered the billing address?

Why withdraw it...the worst that can happen is you get declined :) Unless you need a card ASAP I'd let it play out. You have until 3/28 to apply for the SPG biz card.

Speaking from my own similarly horrible experience, I learned that "sending it up for review" usually means you'll be accepted. But I feel for you, because I spent 45 minutes on the phone with a rep who clearly wanted to earn her gold star for the day. I was also applying with a "business", and I was really put through the wringer. I needed a glass of wine afterwards. Got my CIP though!

I’m always weary when people first start posting new DP, I feel like they are usually user error.

That is true. Someone else posted they got the points recently. Maybe this person was doing a lot of MS and was on amexs radar too.

No point in withdrawing, the credit pull has already hit your credit report. Just keep calling the status line. Good luck!

What time does your flight get in? Traffic can be nuts so you might want to take BART from the airport since you're near the stop anyway. I think from OAK you have to take a shuttle to the station. Plus if I remember right you pay tolls going into the city from Oakland and that can get backed up.

I would look into buying your Alcatraz tickets now if you haven't already. I'm not aure how far out you can buy them but don't wait until you get there or you probably won't be going. They sell out, especially in the summer.

Pride weekend is in June, not sure when, but depending on where they have events it could affect stuff.

It's a fairly easy city to get around with public transit, which includes the cable cars, and your own feet. If I'm imagining the market street car @Lain mentioned I think it runs to the Giants stadium but I could be picturing it wrong or using the wrong line.

Flight gets in at 11:50am PT. Tried to schedule it that way so it's a midday arrival with hopes that perhaps the congestion hasn't started yet...? Wishful thinking for a Friday arrival? o_O Thought about the BART into the city as well, but was worried about hauling around multiple pieces of luggage, so we figured we could uber, but if that's a bad time to do so, we may have to rethink this yet again.

Someone else also told us to get Alcatraz tickets early! I've been looking, but I think the earliest we can get them is either 30 or 60 days out, so we are still a while away, but I should probably check that again. Feels like the wait for ADRs and FP bookings lol.

Seems like you said SF is easy enough to navigate on foot and the hop on/hop off cars. DH is from New York originally so has a better sense of public transit than I do (I'm all about driving and my car :D). This is one of the reasons I didn't want to hoard THAT many uber GCs.

This (the "we aren't giving you any more credit") happened to me when I applied for the Marriott business card. (Already had an Ink Plus.) They moved some credit from the Ink Plus to the Marriott card -- do you have another Chase business card?

And going over the whole application is also not unusual for Chase. I wouldn't withdraw the application -- the worst they can do is deny it.

I know it's not on topic for us but apparently Disney confirmed parking costs at their resorts now: For Reservations made AFTER MARCH 21: Value = $13/nt; Moderate = $19/nt; Deluxe = $24/nt. Won't affect us as we are DME all the way but still seems very strange to me.

I can’t believe they are making the change so soon, all those people that didn’t include that in their budget.

Thanks! This makes me feel better. I just never know what Amex is capable of.

I posted further up that it went to a Discover and not a Visa...I need a creative way to enter it now. I don't have it set to autopay. Never even thought about it. Love Navy!!

Please update when it credits. I tried to get my NFCU car loan in last month and it would not go. I'm going to try again around the 22nd. Other than CC bills, that loan is the only one I'm not paying by CC.
I looked and it was with a non Visa.. Discover. I posted an update on my original post.
