I love credit cards so much!

That's what I was suggesting, but the offer looks like it's $200 cash back instead of URs. This confused us since we all thought CF and CFU were UR cards, not cash back ones

A Chase expert is welcome to correct me since as we all know they aren't my area of expertise...but CF/CFU are URs than really can only be used as cash back cards that then get the oomph of travel URs (transferring to partners, using the [crappy] travel portal) when paired with a CSR/CSP.

I'd love to be corrected on this so I can pc my CSP and DH's CSR to the CF, but pretty sure this is the current state of chase nation:laughing:

So.... SPG AF came due.... I have to wait 8 weeks to see anything in my acct...is this what ya'll have been seeing? and then it's good for one year from the date they give it,or the date AF is paid?(bc that's way less than one year)

I believe that's about what we waited for our free night to post but when we got it, it was good for a full year from the date they gave it.

Yes, she will get URs, but they are only good for cash back on the Freedom cards without a Sapphire or CIP to transfer it to. However, if you have one of those, I believe you can transfer within "household". So if she gets one and she would like to use it for travel before she can qualify for her own Sapphire or CIP, maybe she can transfer them to your card and you can book for her.

Interesting. I'll look into seeing if that will work. She's nowhere near ready for a CSR but we have one. I'm not even certain she can get approved for a CF or CFU at this point. Thanks so much for explaining.

I'm not trying to correct you, but I've only got one UR earning card and that's a Chase Freedom. When I click on my UR's I get the option to book flights and hotels as well as buy gift cards, deals, etc, but each UR is only worth 1 cent, so it's essentially the same as cash back. I started building my stash of UR's to eventually transfer to a higher payout card such as CSP or CSR, assuming there was a travel, flight, car rental etc that was a better value through that avenue.

Right now, I'm only seeing value in CIP,CSR, CSP to get their signup bonuses.

Time will tell for me once I get to the point where I have a few hundred thousand to spend, and depending what I want to spend them on.

Wow. We have, too, and they never give us anything. I'm glad you got a credit.
I just asked Dh and he said you have to ask for the credit for late packages. They’ve given it to us for all of them so far. We order everything with prime so it’s on amazon if it doesn’t come on time

I want to hit MSR on both of mine but I'm afraid to do it yet..... I need to go read some more to bolster myself,I've been doing this every two years for like 7-8 years now....
I know there is a chance I could mess this up but figured I’d take the chance and go for it. I’ll report back here when the points post.

Gotta love the holidays and meeting various spends! Just wish the sight I just bought $500 worth of skateable hockey tiles from took Amex! And gotta love when the Ex is lazy and would rather have me buy **** for the kids and pay me back vs, do it himself. Yes, I will happily pay the $1200 our daughter's Washington DC trip, and her iPhone 8, and ski club membership.

My mom does the same thing. She has me just order stuff (since I'm normally stacking codes, getting ebates, etc). I'm on her bank account so after I order for her, I just transfer the money into my account.

Help!!! I came home to a letter from Chase saying they got an app for the Amazon card with my name and social. It says to call 800-278-8830. Now we all know I wouldn't apply for this card plus I'm 5/24 and would have talked about it here first.

Question, from googling, I both find this phone number as valid and as a scam. I know recon is closed but I'm hoping I can deal with it Monday. What number should I call?

When I went online to Chase it said I didn't have any pending applications which also makes me wonder.

Also, the only alerts I've gotten have been from my AS card I got last month. However, I'm guessing it might be time to freeze my credit. Any info on how to do that would be great because I'm not sure where to start other than the monitoring I have going through Discover, Chase and Credit Karma.

Call the number on the back of any Chase card you currently have. That way it’s 100% legit and they will get you to the right department.

I’d freeze my credit in your shoes pronto.

I know I can call the number on the back of the card, but I don't know if it's worth it at almost 8 on a Friday. And I don't know how to even start freezing my credit.

@tink1970 or anyone else who knows about the Amex flight credit and Delta. Please help!

I already have 5 $50 gift cards. 2 for the Gold, 2 for Biz Plat, and 1 where I messed up and ordered it from my ipad. I am looking to buy flights first week of April for the Star Wars race weekend and want to use my companion certificate. Flights are expensive since such a short trip and not any wiggle room with dates, but I am tired of waiting for it to come down more. If I buy now and use Biz Plat the companion certificate fees should credit right? (If it credits I can justify the flight cost).

If I wait to buy I am thinking I might just use the boost your mileage function for our January trip. Any idea if that would bill now and credit? Or should I just suck it up and get 2 more gift cards and call it good?

I actually read most of the thread on flyer talk on Delta, but I don't want to post there and my precise question hasn't been answered.
Don’t be afraid to post a q in the right thread on FT. Yes they flame a lot but nothing says you have to log back into the account ever again after you get an answer to your q. (I have found them helpful whenever I ask something that’s not 101 like.)

Honestly I’d rather call Chase now and get it over with or at least get the ball rolling. Hopefully it’s a screw up on Chase’s end. During the call you can ask Chase if the number in the letter is a Chase number. If it is a Chase number I would be inclined to say it’s a Chase screwup. If it isn’t a Chase number then I would freeze every credit bureau. You can start that process on each of their websites.

ETA: I paused on the prompt credit freeze in favor of calling Chase first. If this is a Chase screw up there is no reason to freeze your credit imho...

Already froze them all online. Way easier than I thought it would be which is almost kinda scary. They didn't ask for much info. I'll call them now that I've eaten dinner. Just wasn't the letter I expected to come home to when I saw it on informed delivery earlier. Esp later on a Fri evening before a holiday.

The very annoyed and unhelpful lady I got using the # on the back of my CSR confirmed that is the number for the fraud dept and she does see an app in. They didn't get the address right either, transposed road and south and put washington, WA as the city and state which obviously isn't correct. Have to wait til Monday to call. At least everything is frozen now. Guess they didn't do a hard pull since I didn't get any alerts for that. Blah merry christmas.

I’m going to take a moment for my fellow Californians here- OP is paying $2.06/gallon pre discounts. At a SHELL. Sometimes I forget just how expensive living in the CA sun is...
Wow I thought CA would be more than MD. We are paying 2.26 a gallon. Just took the family to kings dominion and gas is 1.85 there. Would love to see gas drop below 2.00 and stay for awhile. Def could use some savings right now.

Hello all you wonderful people! Here's my question of the day:

DD would like to build up her credit. She has a credit union Visa, but would like to get a points earning card. We looked at that CFU offer that was talked about for college aged kids, but it looks like it's cash back. Any suggestions?

My dd got the Discover IT (back in May, like a week after turning 18yo) and just got the CFU. The 20k UR's or $200 cash back is a great bonus on $500 MSR. At 18yo, she is thrilled about that! I also have my dd's as AU'ers on one of my chase cards and recently added them as AU'ers on my Amex plat (gold cards). I really think putting your kiddos as AU'ers helps their credit. When my dd18 got her Discover IT card, her credit score was right at 800.
