im so sorry for your loss! I don’t have any good advice about the flight. Just curious if you have called the airline. Maybe they have some kind of bereavement policy. Is someone going on the business trip in your place ?

Thank you. I haven’t called the airline yet. Depending on the time of the funeral, I might even still go...not sure yet. No one will be taking my place - there are a lot of us going, so everyone already has their tickets.

Wow, good for her. My 25 yr. old daughter just applied for her first card, a discover. She was approved, but they gave her only a stingy $1000 credit limit. She called and asked for a larger CL, and they told her maybe after a few months. It cracks me up a little bit because she makes more than I do. It is her first job after grad school, though, but she works in the medical field, so a fairly stable industry. She was a bit miffed, and wanted to try for a Chase card, but I advised her to wait several months. Her credit score is really high, too, because she’s been an AU on a few of my cards for about 7 years. Go figure.

That is a teeny CL for someone with a FT legit job! Discover gave my dd a $500 CL. My dd has had a Chase checking for a couple of years so maybe that helped with the Chase card...? I definitely wanted her to be able to get a Chase card. She had applied for Disney back in the summer but they denied her for that one.Since Chase is advertising the CFU as their 'student card' then I thought maybe she'd have a chance. The increased bonus pushed her to go for it!

@DisneyMandC - I have the 30% PS offer on my Marriott personal and then 10% offers on 3 other Chase cards. Curious which card you have it on?

I could use some travel help, please! I was supposed to go to Germany for work next week but my BIL just passed away and now I won't be able to go. If I call the airline and cancel, do I get any kind of credit? The flight was over $1200. Also not sure that I'd even use a credit if I did receive one, since it's Singapore Air and I can't imagine flying them within the next year.

First off, so sorry for your loss. It's terrible to have to deal with logistics of something like this while working through a family tragedy :(
Second, I would call and see about the credit. We had to book all business flights through a corporate travel portal, but I was fortunate to not have to cancel a trip to find out exactly how the process worked (or unfortunate, depending on how you look at it). However, I know they didn't book refundable fares unless it was the cheapest option, which was rare, yet I knew several people to have travel credits waiting to be used from moving and cancelling flights. So there may be something that can be worked out if you don't end up taking the trip.

Not that you want to spend $1200 OOP, but worse case I wonder if you can try to change it to push it out on a different trip in the future.

A weird thing happened on my CSR - the parking charge at Universal Studios got 0 URs. Zero, zilch, nada. It should count as 3x travel, or at least 1x. Why?? Just sent SM asking. It's only 75 URs if I get the 3x, but it's gonna bug me, lol.

I had a parking charge last week earn 0 points as well! I thought it was odd too, but I figured it was just a one time glitch. And the charge was only $5 so I didn’t worry too much about it. But odd indeed.

ETA Now that I’m caught up I see the thinking on it being to replace “refunded” travel points. I bet that is it. I know I cancelled a few things recently that I had booked through UR and paid very minimal amounts with my credit card at booking. So there were a few small “travel” refunds to my cc.

Chase pulls Experian for me and Barclays pulled Transunion. I know Chase uses different agencies depending on your state.

Right, for me Chase was a mix of TU and EX, and that seemed pretty consistent in PA based on DoC's DPs. For the Sapphire DD they pulled both of them and then on the CIC just a month later they pulled EX. Barclay's is pretty consistent in TU it looks like, so if @speedyfishy is in a Chase TU area it might get a little scary if USB did TU too :scared:

I gave Amex some leeway when they got swamped with the Rose Gold apps but that excuse is solidly dead at this point. Even my father trying to get his Gold DL card was 3-4 weeks! And they don’t extend the deadline to meet the spend... if I wasn’t such an optimist I’d think they are doing this on purpose...
I’m 50 pages behind on this thread, but I did finally get my SPG Lux Card. Seriously underwhelmed. Not sure what part of that card says luxury. I did get a package today from Amex with a beagle tracker device. Not sure what I’ll do with it since I have a bunch of Tiles already but nice gesture

Did you have any travel refunds? That's my working theory. But if you didn't, then :scratchin. I guess I'll see what the SM reply says.

i did OfficeMax, bought $100 worth of Amazon GCs. got my $10 back already.
im not sure why ur Chewy order didnt get the $15 off, i recently did a Chewy order and got the $15 back instantly.

so far, the Walgreens on does say "exclude gift cards." i didnt read that and made a $50 amazon GC purchase, will see if it still codes(like RMN) *fingers crossed*
also did lowes, will report back!

Please let us know about Lowe’s. All this talk of FOMO has given me FOMO :) and I’ve got Lowe’s and Staples and Dicks Sporting Goods that I can use gift cards for.

So do the Barclay's and US Bank pull the same CR as Chase usually? I'm wondering if those inquires will do anything to the Hyatt app tomorrow

No pull from US Bank yet. Barclays pulled TU twice. One is denied one is pending. Chase pulled equifax.

Yes, I did! That’s what I get for posting before I was caught up reading. I did add to my original reply though. Good thinking, I bet that’s totally it!!

Any good way to get a Barnes and noble gift card? I need a $25 one for my niece for Christmas. The only thing I can think of is my red card to get 5% off

Our DCL/points trip is coming up soon. We leave next Friday, Dec 14! Got our rooms assigned today and they are connecting with extended verandahs. yay! I am tying up my loose ends and have some questions.

AMEX travel portal has rental van one way mco-port for $83 enterprise..way cheaper than Costco even. Is it normally less? However, it won't let me book with points because you don't pay til you get there. Say what? Is this right? Next option is UR portal Alamo for 6744 points. Lastly, I have beaucoup hertz points, but you can't do above intermediate on points for 1-way. I could pay $80 and use a $30 coupon (bought with 600 points) for the rest. Alternatively, I could book an intermediate hertz on points and have a backup minivan reservation through another company on cash. That way if there is a van in the hertz pres circle aisle we take it and drop the backup van ressie. Doesn't look like UR ressies can be cancelled last minute, so that can't be my backup. Boo. Any thoughts here?

DH wants to stay at the airport instead of driving to port. Obvious answer is Hyatt MCO but it is 24,222 URs. Amex is 52,714 points. Cash price is $350. Is the value better with MRs or URs? There is a Hyatt place near the airport for 8k world of Hyatt points. Anyone have experience with it?
Why not transfer 12,000 URs to Hyatt to book the MCO property?

I just downloaded it too. No Nordstrom deal, but decent dining coupons for pei Wei and blaze pizza. Of course recently got pei Wei and something had changed...it was awful.

I just figured they would all be the same. I don't see any restaurants. I did notice I am the Gold level. It looks like their are 3 tiers - Blue, Gold and Platinum.

No help, but I am so very, very sorry for your loss  I hope that good memories will always be with you.

New chase offer for 10% back at Walgreens too.

A few of mine have finally credited. Some gc purchase and worked!

Got this too. Was thinking of doing it esp to go with Walgreens sale on GC's, but not sure if allowed to buy gc's with the Chase offers.
