I love credit cards so much!

I was just checking my Marriott Points (just recently upgraded to the Premier for 50,000 points with 1 purchase). I just stayed at Swan on Sunday so used card but extra points not posted yet. Anyway - it shows that I was Gold Status at 49 stays and that I just needed 1 more stay for Platinum. I don't really know much about Hotel Status as we don't travel that much to use them. If I did get to Platinum would that just be for the rest of this year or would it be for next year?

It should be good until Feb 2020.

Can anyone get swan or dolphin to come up on the new CSR portal? I think it is gone, best I can tell. It would be "cheaper" on there than transferring points to marriott. >:( <<<is how I feel towards chase at the moment...well, for the last month or two.

Does anyone have any advice for DS looking for a no fee cc to help build his credit? He currently has a Discover card, opened 2 yrs ago with a $1000 credit limit. He's ready to open a second but I told him to hold off until I checked with you experts :) He doesn't charge that much, maybe $200-$300 per month. He was looking at a Chase Freedom that gives back 1.5x in credit but I think he'd be better off with a SW card for the bonus points....although those have AF's. Any advice?

No expert...lol..but try to help...Will he be able to meet the minimum spend in 3 months to get the bonus RR points and does he have a use for them.

No, have you tried calling?

I just transferred from my CF to my CIP 2 nights ago. Just added the cip as a transfer option on my UR account for the freedom. then sent from CIP to SW. No phone call needed, thank goodness.

Does this work in the other direction, too? As in transferring CIP points to CSR?

I'm new to Chase points, but I have to say that the no Disney, points being devalued, etc. is making me think we won't be getting any more UR cards in the near future. I was thinking DH could refer me to the CSP but honestly I am going to go for other cards instead. I guess this is what Chase wanted (to lose lots of transactions)....

Yes, you can transfer CIP points directly to CSR, I've been doing it.

Sometimes people run into issues if they've linked numerous cards to another card. In these situations, you might need to daisy chain your cards to get the points to CSR.

All the talk on books is making me remember reading to my kids (30 and 20 so no longer kids) every night. Before my son could read he picked out the book every night and it was in the Dr Seuss collection - Wacky Wednesday. I was so tired of that book. We still joke about it.

This made me remember all the times I read 'Go Dog Go'.
That was the biggie for my son and he probably still loves that book!

Yes, I usually send my cip points to DH's CSR.

PSA for Escape Lounges: groupon if you need to/want to purchase an entry. At the lounge entry is $45, pre-purchase from Escape $40, Groupons run around $30ish and has a couple extra bucks off today so prices $25-$30 depending on the lounge.

I'm traveling with my fam to WDW in a couple weeks and we have an Escape Lounge visit planned at departure as Mom has her Plat Biz. That's good for the 3 others in the fam, but I want access so yay!

Seeing groupons for all domestic Escape lounges: OAK, RNO, GSP, BDL, MSP. Exp on the vouchers is Feb 22, 2019 so good for the holidays.

For sure if you want A+ you need to prioritize that one. It kinda has a 6/24 rule. I would not count on being able to get more than 2 Barclays cards as they really seem to be tightening up so make a list with what you want the most up top.

Who knows.

Barclays is known to enforce a soft 6/24 rule if they don't want to extend you credit. If you're under 6/24 (as in your case), they may still cite too many inquiries. How many is too many? No one really knows. Barclays is a mystery.

I can say Barclays is very unlikely to approve 2 cards on the same day or even within a few days of each other. I'm not sure I would spend a 5/24 slot on the AA personal, so I'd recommend going for the AA biz first. No one knows how many Barclays cards you can hold at once. I've seen DPs of 4. I have 3. If you want the AA, JB, and A+, I would go for the AA biz first since that offer is ending at the end of the month. Get that, put spend on it (not just the initial purchase to get the bonus, but real ongoing spend, at least some every month), wait a couple of months, and go for the Arrival+. The one thing we do know about Barclays is they strongly value ongoing spend once you have a card, moreso than any other issuer.
Thank you both for the info! I think I'll try for the AA Biz, then do Arrival+ when we finish my DW's CIP MSR. I want the JetBlue because we do fly them a lot, but now that you can transfer UR's to JB it's not as high a priority. Or DW can get the JB, since we can pool our points it doesn't really matter which of us gets the card/sign up bonus.

Went on the UR travel through my CSR card to check on some dates and it’s changed over to Expedia...need to learn how to navigate this site..:scratchin
Woohoo! I've been waiting for this so I can book flights to London. The old portal would only show me Basic Economy, with no way to upgrade to regular Economy, and I have not had time to call and try booking it on the phone. I took a look briefly and the prices seem the same as before; the interface is a little wonky, like at first it was only showing me one return option after I chose an outbound flight but then I went back and refreshed the search and it showed me more options. Now I can sit down with DW and finalize our dates/flights. Then I can work on lodging. :)

Yes he can meet ms. I think the bonus RR points are probably the best value, he does fly SW a few times a year. He's probably hoping I'll pay for most of his travel indefinitely, lol.

Southwest Hawaii update, more waiting:

1. “For next year, Hawaii is our expansion focus….” – Gary Kelly CEO.

2. California crew base within next 60 days. A Los Angeles based crew, in part to serve Southwest Hawaii flights, will be in place starting in December.

3. Flight sales and commencement. Southwest Hawaii flights goal was updated with ticket sales anticipated to begin by December 2018. Flights are to start in early 2019. This of course dependent on government/ETOPS approval.

4. Etops certification update. SWA has been working on this process for 12 months. Regulatory reviews of manuals is completed. Procedures are moving into demonstration phase, starting with “table top exercises,” then the validation flights. That followed by training. Once they get ETOPS, they are ready to go and will within days start sales. They expect to fly within no more than one month of obtaining certification.

Since I'm in RI, I have stopped hoping for SW and started thinking about Hawaiian Air since they just announced direct from BOS.

I swear I didn't spill the beans anywhere but here. We'll see how long this sticks around - I'm just glad I got the 75k Plat already!

I'm trying to remember what I know about JB points. Aren't they worth an average of 1.4 CPP? If you have a CSR, I'd check the portal first before you transfer URs - it might be cheaper!

Lol...of course......looks like that’s the way to go then...if you have a SW card don’t forget to refer him for 10,000points
