you won’t get precheck out of LAX. 1) ANA isn’t an airline that participates in it. 2) no tsa pre at the international terminal.

now ur flight to lax and from lax to home may come with precheck.
Will it be okay that we don’t have precheck? We’ve never had it before but we normally fly out of small airports.

TSA pre check question....can it be paid for online when you sign up for the appointment?
I’d like to use my CSR to pay for my son but he’s in Orlando and I’m in NY so can’t go with him until December....he’s flying here for Thanksgiving so I’d like to get it for him now if possible

Did anyone else receive the promotion from Plastiq about earning 1 FFD for every dollar spent through Plastiq on a mastercard? If I'm reading the promotion correctly, this is amazing. I have a bill of around $7500 that I'll be processing through Plastiq towards the end of the month. Does that mean I'll earn 7500 FFDs??

I'm a little sad I didn't get this email a couple of days ago since I just paid several very large bills through Plastiq, but I will take what I can get!

@hsmamato2 and @wendow and anyone else looking for a card for a young person/student, I don't know why I never noticed before, but the Freedom Unlimited is listed as a Student card on the Chase site. I guess this is the first Chase one that should be tried for them. Maybe I will my DD20 attempt soon.

But is time saved in line > time to get to the interview? Maybe you want to do enrollment on arrival instead. You won't get the benefit this trip, but you would for future trips.

https://www.cbp.gov/travel/trusted-traveler-programs/global-entry/enrollment-arrival
I don’t see us going on any other trips for awhile that would need global entry so we would either apply ahead of time or just won’t do it.

My dad is making me second guess because he has done lots of international travel (some where we went as kids: Mexico, Paris, Jamaica) but he has never gotten GE. He told me he never felt like it was needed and never had a long line to wait at customs. We would have to pay $100 for one of us along with having to drive 3 1/2+ hours to get an interview. Should we just suck it up and wait in the customs line?

This might be a stupid question but what’s a traveler number?

It's actually called your "known traveler number" (KTN for short). This is your ID number that you use when booking travel that let's everyone know you are a part of a trusted traveler prescreened program. You'll see it on airline sites as either KTN or Known Traveler Number when you book your ticket and you can put it in your airline profile. If it's updated before you check-in then most of the time (like 99%) you'll get the PreCheck on your boarding pass. The individual programs may call is something different, but it's generally just one field that accepts all the same ID's (https://www.tsa.gov/travel/frequently-asked-questions/what-are-cbp-passid-and-known-traveler-number)

The caveat is not all airlines participate so it's not guaranteed front of the line pass, but for most domestic travel it's not much of a concern. Going international is more iffy, but the GE part is for the Customs and Boarder control piece once you return to the US. Again, it's not at all airports, but seems like the majority of popular entry points do.

Apparently there aren’t any in my state. That’s a bummer but not a surprise.

We have two states close that we might just have to make a weekend trip or something to do it.

That's the good thing about it, you can interview anywhere that has an appointment open. So if you were traveling somewhere anyway you can look at their schedules to try to fit it in. I didn't go too far but my local airport PHL was consistently booked about 2-3 months when I tried to make my appointment. We were traveling in the area so I looked for earlier appointments in NYC around that trip but finally got a perfect one for our weekend in Pittsburgh about 5 weeks from when I was conditionally approved. And while it is a 5 hour drive, we were going anyway and we were closer to the airport there than I am to Philly here (and I didn't have to pay for parking as a plus :) )

I did too. Gets me thinking...

ack. I should have jumped on that first for ds before the amex. ah well he wants only one card anyway so i'm not gonna stress but excellent info! I still don't know why Discover was being so difficult when the other brands were just fine with his newb status....

I think that's because they didn't have a student option before, that I recall. I did notice that really recently but it slipped my mind before I could ask on here. I think that's very interesting and a smart move on Chase's part. Look at how much business goes to Discover with similar products, and how many of us still have our Discover cards 15-20+ years later ? My 2 student cards I got before the Discover were gone within 5 years I think. They were good to get established but they didn't have a competitive rewards program that made it worthwhile to keep. (plus at the end they were both Citibank cards, couldn't deal so despite the ding to my score I cancelled the last one when I hit the last straw. FYI Citibank IT has always been, ah, sh***y IME, the stories out there are not new unfortunately)

Your son would need to use your CSR account number when he applies for GE since the cost is paid upon application not when you have the interview. I think the majority of the fee is the background check they conduct to approve you. Once your son applies, you should be then see the credit on your CSR.

Howdy everyone, I seem to always find myself several pages behind no matter how much I try to keep up lol. Exciting news, our magic bands were shipped out today!!! can't wait for nov5th to come. I need some guidance on our next steps......my DW is 2/24 with it being a csp which was pc to a cf and a jcpenny card lol.... our fights are on sw and was thinking of doing what someone else suggested by personal then biz not sure. wife would really like the pink gold amex. so not sure what to do. I would like to get something for our up coming trip. I will refer her to cip, ciu, cu. sometime next year. I have kept this whole Disney trip a secret from my kids so that will be special when the time comes to tell them. my kids have never flown before, so this should be interesting. if anyone can give any advice flying out of Reagan in DC, that would be helpful. I have only flown out of Bwi once. I kind of feel like a little kid, I'm 41 and this is the first time for Disney for me and the kids. my dw went when she was 7 but that doesn't count. as always a big thank you for all who have helped me on our first trip. it has taken almost 2 years to plan but it is finally here. as I type this my wife is designing our own personal mickey shirts. :worship::worship::worship:

Thanks to everyone who chimed in about my next card. Here's what I'm thinking: So if I am not going to have enough UR's to book our Spain airfare in June, should I just go with the CSP and upgrade to the CSR in the future? I should have enough points to book lodging for that trip but not nearly enough for flights.

I am not sure how old your children are but the pressure from take off and landing really bothers my DS11 and he has flown quite a bit. I make sure to have some gum handy that he can chew to help with the pressure. BWI is our home airport so I could help with that one but am at a loss for DCA except for the one time I got myself lost trying to make my way from Arlington to my hotel and ended up at the airport instead :) Hope you have an amazing trip! (I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my new rose gold AmEx so I can see if it is a pretty as anticipated.)

Thanks for sharing! I've never noticed that. My dd did apply for a Disney visa but they sent a letter saying she needed to send in pay stubs to verify her income. I put down 3k income per year for her because she makes about 2k each summer babysitting and then less during the school year. That is a low estimate of her income but there is no way to verify it for Chase. She is now working at CFA though and getting a regular paycheck. I plan to try again soon. I figured the Freedom cards would be harder to get than Disney but maybe we will try for a FU. She's an AU'er on my Freedom so doesn't need her own right now.
