Disney tickets/passes don't code as travel on the CSP, correct? I'm thinking the best place to purchase is the CFU, but I just want to double check.

Tickets direct from Disney? No they don’t code as travel. If you buy from Undercover Tourist or Parksavers you not only get the discount but also the code as travel. Since you don’t have the Disney Premier yet (where it is 2%) yes probably use FU if direct Disney purchase.

I believe they do if you buy them through Undercover Tourist.

I’m renewing an AP, so I’ll just use the CFU. Thanks!

If you book via Ticketmaster, you can get gift cards at both Best Buy and Kroger (not sure if you do the 4x fuel points thing or not). The Ticketmaster site allows you to pay with multiple gift cards. I can't recall the limit off the top of my head though.

Thanks! Didn’t think about that, good idea. And can slip them in with my groceries so Amex is none the wiser.

Renewal AP discount still 15%? Mine expires next month, right after my F&W trip. It probably makes sense for me to wait and just buy a new pass during the next F&W - but depends on the discount.

Did you get an email about renewals by chance?

Hi everyone! This is an absolutely amazing thread. I've read back a number of pages, checked CardMatch & I have the 100K Amex Platinum offer. I am an AU on an Amex Gold that was originally opened at least 20 years ago. I also have a Chase Disney Visa of my own that was opened about 3 years ago.

However, there are a few questions that I can't seem to find answers to.

1. I live overseas. I can apply with & use my last address in the US to receive cards/statements/etc. My parents will forward my mail to me. I can make the $5K MSR easily but all of the charges would come from overseas. Would this be an issue?

2. I don't think either Amex or Chase offers redemption through JAL/American. Please correct me if I am wrong  I am also interested in the Chase Sapphire cards but I'm thinking that I will wait on those & get the Amex now while they're offering 100K.

3. My mom & I are planning a trip to London together next year. I'm hoping to use the 100K MR for a flight to London via Delta, and I'm hoping it will cover both of us in Premium Economy. I currently have 60K Delta points - am I correct in thinking I can transfer the MR to Delta 1:1 when I go to book the flights & therefore could have up to 160K (+ credit from purchases) to use? (I don't think the flights we're looking at would cost 80K each, but you never know.) I realize this might not be the absolute best use of points but it is important to me. My parents paid everything for me up through my undergraduate university & now that I am in grad school with my own income and household, I really want to start contributing when we travel together, etc.

Thanks in advance for any help/answers! :) My fiance & I just got back from a trip to Hawaii and I really wish I had read here first.

hello! I dont think any of us have any experience with overseas and US credit cards. I do have friends who do this. One of them being a very good expert at it. I have learned a few things about what its like being overseas.

1. yes, as long as you have good credit, u can do that.
2. for American domestic, i usually recommend looking into BA Avios that redeems for AA. This will get u a good deal if not from the Chase UR portal. Any Sapphire card would do, earning power isnt as good though for chase. You should also look into AA cards. just make sure they dont have FTF.
3. Your biggest problem with MR is how likely you can find places that take Amex in Japan. I know the last time i went, i had a hard time even finding places to swipe my cards... let alone amex. I could be wrong in this context though, im not local there so i wouldnt know :] Also with London, u should consider flying into another European country and then taking the train into london. London's airport taxes are pretty extreme. ie, a 1st class ticket on BA will cost you 120k points + $1200 on taxes.
as for other recommendations, have you considered Cathay Pacific? The Cathay Pacific card is unique because it earns 1.5 per point on travel swipes(out of the US). its basically a 1.5x card for you in Japan.

I’ve always had great luck going in august. We got FOP no problem last year! I think it’s because we’re going Veterans Day weekend and it’s the last weekend of F&W. We knew that going into it though, so we just take what we can get! I always check back in routinely to see if anything opens up. I’m not confident for SDD but if it doesn’t work out I’ll just rope drop it.
The refreshing is key. Make sure and check on the morning of, in the hour after rope drop at DHS. My theory is that people drop their later in the day FPs if they are successful in riding at RD. Worked for me anyways.

Disney tickets/passes don't code as travel on the CSP/CSR/CIP if purchased directly from Disney -- it'll code as Entertainment/Amusement Parks.

Unless you purchase your Disney tickets/passes from Disney and it gets charged to your onsite hotel, where the room charge would code as travel.

Why not purchase your Disney tickets/passes from Undercover Tourist for WDW, and LMT Club for Disneyland? Both UT and LMT offer discounted tickets/passes and both code as travel.

ETA: Wow... I’m really behind.

Make sure you watch for park hours to change because they will add a whole bunch of FPS. We went in March and about a month before our trip they added an hour in the morning at ak. I was able to get FPS for fop during that first hour and it was great!

Yup, I’ve been keeping an eye on it. I’m hoping they’ll add EMH since I think that day is the first day of Jingle Bam. I need to double check, I saw the post about it a while ago but haven’t heard anything else.

I just checked every morning when I woke up. There were some people that set alarms for 5 am lol.

OK @striker1064 your DVC on Amex setup is intriguing and also highly confusing. I've never done any sort of self referral with Amex so I am having a hard time figuring out which cards can refer to what. You would need all these cards in hand before the purchase so how soon do you start collecting these in prep for a purchase? Would you mind a little ELI5 :teacher::blush:?

Lets assume I wanted to make a 30k DVC purchase. My current Amex cards are BCE, Ameriprise Plat, and SPG. I also have a p2 with only a SPG.

Pretty sure I'm crazy and this isn't a good idea but with the increased offer I thought I would check before totally writing it off.

Would I get approved for the BoA AS biz card using only the $7800 yearly rental income with no other income?

Since no one said I was crazy, though I'm sure I still am :) But I figured it's only a hard pull let's give it a try. It went pending obvs, but I already got an email from credit karma about the hard pull, like 15 min after I submitted. So I keep trying to use their status check thing online but I get an error that nothing matches. Is their status check thing only for personal cards and not biz cards? Am I stuck waiting for the letter?

The other question, do they always hard pull regardless of the income put in or do they look at that before they pull? Trying to figure out if that's a good thing or not :) The miles and the companion pass only having to pay taxes did me in because I want to try and get my mom to go to NYC with me for my 40th next May and that companion pass would help out. Plus I had always intended to apply for the biz at this point so I can cancel the personal.

You all can smack my hands for this if necessary or shun me for trying :) I figured the worst they'll say is no and my CL will rebound fast enough and it's high enough I'm not worried.

You know, choosing FPs this morning reminded me that I don't think I ever discussed my love of Maxpass at DL. I still like FP+, but I thought the Maxpass system worked flawlessly and wish WDW had it! It was absolutely well worth the $10 per person and am so glad we got it!

We used Maxpass for the first time at DLR when we went for Dapper Days a few months ago. Loved it and wish we had that at WDW. I've spent the morning making numerous FPs for different trips and different groups of people we are meeting up with. I generally never do this unless we are travelling with friends or family that don't go often. Ugh! I like Maxpass so much better!

DP on SPG lux card: Our Hawaii stay last week was at the Westin Maui. I used my SPG Lux for incidentals and charged some souvenirs plus a new pair of Maui Jim sunglasses to the room. I love Maui Jim sunglasses. The $300 credit just posted today! I am so stoked about getting a free pair of Maui Jims!!!

Gotta break the news to DH... I managed to get a Candlelight Processional ADR when Neil Patrick Harris is there, just in case we'd go for Christmas, back around 180 days out. I just realized it's for the Monday after we're in Nashville... he'll be so sad.

It totally wouldn't be crazy to go from Nashville to WDW for 2 days, right? :rotfl:

im wondering if i need to wait for my new SPG Lux card to start spending. it seems to me the Lux card and the SPG personal card are the same #?
