I love credit cards so much!

Ahhhh. Good thing I was just playing around anyways. I don't need anything unless it's replacing SPG lux :)
It has an uncanny way of happening when you are actually looking for an offer too. I remember refreshing in incognito dozens of times a day for weeks looking for a green 25k when I needed it...LOL. No offer...no offer...NO OFFER...I was ready to throw my computer, LOL/

I stayed at Hyatt Place. I think there was a Springhill right next door. You literally cross the street and there is a bus stop in the Parking lot. Mickey and friends and I believe we were Toy Story. Busses we never too full like WDW and it took 10 minutes or so. We did walk one morning. We are a pretty fit group probably took less than a half hour.
Mickey and Friends is the main parking structure near DtD for the parks and runs a tram to the parks. Toy Story is a separate parking area on the other side of the parks and down the road from Disneyland that runs buses. Toy Story is indeed the one you're talking about but there are no Springhills by Hyatt Place, just the 2 in Anaheim: one out towards M&F and one built above the CVS/across from Hyatt House. That one is unfortunately more expensive given it's better location :)

There are two pop-ups.

1. Not eligible because you have or have had this card before.

2. Not eligible based on your history.

Is this recent or what they've had since starting this process? When I was trying to pick between CIC and SPG Biz for DH, I started an app, from my referral, on the SPG biz. I got some pop-up - didn't screen shot or fully remember. Though I am pretty sure it said may not be. Then asked if I wanted to proceed. I clicked no as I wasn't going to go through if there was a potential of no bonus. Went for the CIC and approved.

For DH, he only has Hilton Biz. Thought we met MSR but there was a refund on the card I was not expecting:mad:. Not really sure why he would get a might not unless due to lack of history with AMEX.

Have plenty of other MSRs right now, so will try this again later this year.

Does anyone have thoughts/opinions on Barclay Arrival+ vs. Capital One Venture?

I am looking for ways to save $ on an Airbnb stay in London for next summer so am considering a card that will allow me to erase travel purchases. I've never used Airbnb before but based on my reading of their payment terms, you can't split the payment between multiple credit cards even if you book a reservation that allows you to pay a deposit at booking and the balance later. You can't change your payment method between booking and final payment. The only thing I could possibly do to split it between two cards would be to split the payment with my wife and use a different card to pay her portion. (I think this will work but not 100% sure.)

Based on properties I've looked at for approximate dates we'd stay, it will be between $1,500-$2,000. Barclays welcome offer is 60,000 miles ($600) for $5,000 spend (at 2X miles = 10,000 miles) so I'd get a minimum of $700 value there. CapOne Venture is 50,000 miles ($500) for $3,000 spend (at 2X miles = 6,000 miles) so that's $560 in value. Barclays has an $89 AF (not waived); CapOne's $95 AF is waived the first year.

Is one of these cards easier to get than the other? If I were to go for both, which should I get first? And, probably most importantly, can anyone confirm if Airbnb codes as travel on both of these?

I am also on the fence about the SPG Lux but need to make a decision soon since I'll be locked out as of 8/26. I'll definitely use the benefits on two Starriott stays next year but don't really need that $5K MSR (or $450 fee) right now. I'm planning to refer my wife to the CIP before I cancel mine at the end of next month, so that'd give us $10K in MSR to do in the next ~4 months which is a lot for us.
Barclays has a 6/24 rule on the Arrival Plus. It's not strictly enforced but it is usually enforced.

Cap1 Venture- no one has a clue if Cap1 will approve you. You can check online if you're prequalified https://www.capitalone.com/credit-cards/prequalify here but we don't know if that's a guarantee. My father had the Saver card pop up there and a few days later he is still in limbo. We literally have no idea why cap1 approves some people and not others.

Great info! Anyone have experience booking with National and using the Emerald Aisle?

I have used only National for years now. It's super easy to walk out to the lot (or take a shuttle, depending on the airport) and pick a car. There are aisles labelled "Emerald Club" (pick a car from there) and then there is the Executive Club aisle(s). Then as you're leaving they check your ID.

Now that I have Executive status, it's even better (more/nicer cars). I was tempted to pick the mini cooper in chapel hill but DD's luggage wouldn't fit!

ETA-It's the amex platinum that confers Executive status (both business and personal) so if you have that it's a bump up in status.

Thanks for the info. I'm currently 3/24 (will be 4/24 if I decide to go for SPG Lux) so I'm okay there for Barclays.

Filled out the Cap1 form and the Venture was the first card! Maybe that's good? Then it listed other options - Venture Rewards, Savor, and Quicksilver (which I already have, hmm). I'm not ready to apply yet but that gives me a little bit of hope, lol.

All this hotel card and AmEx talk has me thinking about my strategy for dh, reluctant P2 who won't do business cards.

My plan going forward (currently 1/24 with a CF as of 7/18)
9/18 CIP
12/18 a SW personal card (finishing spend in 2019)
2/19 SW business (for CP 2019-2020)
6/19 CIC or CSR or CSP/CSR double dip

And then dh (1/24 with CSP as of 7/18)
9/18 CF, referred from me (assuming Q4 bonus categories can be maxed out, otherwise will wait until Dec or Jan)
??????

I assume he should stick with Chase cards first bc of 5/24 and he won't do business cards. So that leaves the Hyatt, the new Marriott, and the United cards, right? If you were just starting out with no co-branded hotel or airline cards, what would you do?

Reminder---looking to Australia in fall 2020; youngest at school in a town with Hyatt/Hilton/Marriott properties; fly SW domestically from BWI and PHL; DVC; v limited business travel. Free-with-annual fee hotel nights would be handy for domestic travel to visit kiddo or relatives and on our hiking/national parks trips. Gathering hotel points via sign up bonuses for a couple nights in Sydney would be great, too.

Thanks again. I hope one day I'll be able to help answer questions here :)

My Dad also had the Venture as number one and then the Saver was listed down the list and it did say pre-qualified on the app he filled out. I’ll update when he hears back.

Folks on the cruise forum think it isn't a good idea to go for a 12:30 flight home from TPA. I'm trying to decide if they are very cautious travelers or if they know what they are talking about. :teeth:

Assuming the ship has no major customs delays (I know, that is a risk), we could do our own luggage and walk off approx 7:30. We'd either have a rental parked in the lot or I'd hire a car service. Maps tells me it is about 2hrs 20mins to TPA. We are all precheck. We don't like to sit around at the gate. We generally try to arrive at the airport about an hour before flights. Here at BNA, sometimes we cut it even closer. :rolleyes1

My options are 12:30 from TPA (12k points), 3:30 from MCO (17k points AND wait around the airport for 6 hours with a toddler), or go to WDW for the night like we usually do. The reason I was trying to avoid WDW overnight is that it is close to Christmas and I know I will have things to get done at home.

Thoughts from you savvy travelers?

Well.... I would take any excuse for a night at WDW....

ETA: I should say, even at the cost of my own sanity.
See Labor Day weekend trip, where I will have worked 8-9 hrs each day this week and this weekend, and then Mon-Thurs 12hrs, Fri 8hrs and will probably go straight from work to the airport...

Hi!! :D

I live near Tampa, and have also been on a few cruises out of PC. I think a 5 hour buffer is okay, especially since you all have precheck. My only worry would be that I-4 is so unpredictable, and if there is even one accident, there aren't any decent alternate routes. Also, what day of the week would you be traveling?

I was just instantly approved for the IHG Premier!!:rainbow: Now I'll be scared of a shutdown for the next couple of months, lol.:sad2:

As a refresher on my history, I did the double dip in the beginning of May and I'm currently 5/24. My last Chase card before that was a few years ago and I have a total of 4 (now 5) Chase cards.

I proactively decreased my credit limits on the CSR and CSP (which were ridiculous) and was given 19k for this card.

I'm going to go for the Hilton Aspire today also and give up on Chase for the foreseeable future.:dogdance:

Curious as to what others are going to say. I just added a night on at Copper Creek after our cruise in March. Figured we can explore Wilderness Lodge and hangout in Disney Springs. I didn't want to rush off the boat and head to the airport to either wait or cut it too close. I was thinking about staying at OKW the night before the cruise but am going to use the Hyatt @ MCO on points.

Last fall, we did the early walk off on our cruise, got our rental, and did KSC. Then we stayed in Cocoa Beach for the night and the next day hung out in Disney Springs for a bit before we had to go to the airport. I wish we'd just stayed the night in Disney, CB wasn't really what I expected.

I thought about going out of the bubble...never have in 7 years on vacation...not sure I can just yet. I know what I am getting at Disney. Someday I would like to explore the area.

Only time at Universal was when DW's company rented out Universal for the night for themselves a couple years back. Great to see something new and HP land was pretty cool. Didn't mind the free butter beer and all the food stations everywhere.

On second thought, maybe I will wait a little bit on the Hilton Aspire to give a little breathing room on the MSRs (7k total). How long does it take a Chase card to show up on your credit report?
