I may have missed this, but did anyone notice what they did to SPG biz referrals? I believe it was 7500 per referral up to 55,000 per year. Which seemed odd to me they would not do even number - you could get 7.3 referrals. Now it says 20,000 per referral which makes sense, they upped it 3 times but it still say up to 55,000 points. That stinks. Is that right?

Supposedly it’s to avoid sending out 1099s on the value of the referrals.

@Lain @palhockeymomof2 Thanks for the explanation. I thought the credit inquiry number equaled your 0/24 number. Interesting that only the Chase card is showing as an inquiry (plus the car) and he has applied for other business cards in the last 12 months. Thank you!!!

The 55k limit is pretty standard with all AMEX cards. Maybe uneducated guess is that it has something to do with valuing all points at $0.01 each (for simplicity) and not wanting to exceed $600 “worth” of referrals on any 1 card which perhaps triggers some tax reporting requirement on their end.

And yes, with the new Marriott points it stinks, lol!

I'm gonna close my SW card I have had since 2012. It has a $0 balance. Do I need to wait until the statement closes to get the points for the purchases this month? The annual fee thing doesn't apply. I just paid it a few months ago, but had no choice as this was the account my DD19 was using for her stuff at college. I gave her a diff account to use now, so I can close this one and open a new one for the bonus.

Were the other biz cards with AMEX? If he has an established relationship with AMEX, they often don’t do a hard inquiry upon approving a new card. In my experience, Chase will always do a hard inquiry no matter the circumstances.

The other business cards were AmEx and he does have an established relationship with them. Thankful that he is still at 0/24! I appreciate everyone's response as I figure all this out!

So..... Like I mentioned,I don't know that Plastiq is useful for my amex biz spend (or is it?) so..... any P2P uses I can do with it without issues?

My DH's CIP credit line was WAY lower than any of the personal cards we've gotten. Chase seems to offer much lower biz credit lines than personal - OK with me (I generally reduce the crazy high personal credit lines too).

I can see the new card when I log in to my chase account...do you think I should get the line reduced now or wait a few weeks ?

Good question...I’m not sure since I’ve always closed mine right after the statement closed and,the points were in my RR account. Are you going to apply for the new SW Priority card ? If you wait for the statement to close does it give you enough time to apply for the new card..if there is an end date the promo ?

Wow! You guys are awesome!! Would you be willing to help a newbie with a few questions? I am looking to fund as much of our next disney vacation as possible. My questions are:
We live in an area that has Delta, Frontier, and Spirit. I looked into the chase points exchange and they do not offer either of these airlines as choices in booking flights. We do have southwest, AA, united but they are all with stops and expensive. Would Delta AMEX be a good choice? Right now they are offering 70,000 points. Good Choice?

I would like to earn points toward tickets and rooms. We like to stay onsite. Would would be a good choice for that? TIA:worship:

Plastiq (likely at Amex’s demand) has gotten even stricter with the types of payments that are allowed on Amex cards. Literally, your payment has to fit in one of the following categories or it may get flagged and declined:

For Payments to Recipients in the United States, the use of American Express cards is not supported beyond the following industries: Government, Utilities, Education, Residential Rent, and Club Fees & Memberships.

So we’re here at Disneyland for a few days, celebrating our big girl’s birthday. Got up bright and early for rope drop, standing in line at the turnstiles, and I didn’t bother to check today’s park hours! :headache:

Oh no -- so are you early or late?

WELCOME!!

Getting a Delta AMEX card for flying Delta could be a good choice.

A few questions to help give advice:
  • When are you planning to travel?
  • Do you have a spouse that is also willing to signup for cards?
  • How much do you anticipate your hotel/tickets costing?
  • Have you (or your spouse) signed up for ANY credit cards in the past 24 months...if so, which ones and when (month/year)?
Without this information we could actually give you bad advice. We'll be happy to help you plan a FREE trip to Disney!!

EDIT: one additional question would be: Do you have a business, or any sort of side hustle that could qualify as a business? (rental property, Sell things on Ebay, sell cookies, teach piano, consulting, etc.)

I hope you aren't stuck on Harbor!

You would think I would be better about this by now, but what card should I use at Office depot? Or the best way to maximize points. I bought an amazon gift card at walgreens to buy my DS a graphing calculator, because every house needs 3 $100+ calculators grrrrrrr, but it looks like it is $119 at Office depot and $143 on Amazon. I see Office Max gift cards on amazon, should I just use my amazon gc to buy 2 of those? I see paypal and masterpass as options too and I know people talk about those with the CIP I think but have never used them.

Do you have a CIC...it gets 5x at office supply stores

I can't find the rewards program agreement from Chase for Southwest. Some programs you lose any points that haven't been transferred yet and others they'll be transferred when you close it even if it's before the statement. I have one of the Marriott ones handy and it has the latter. I think SW might be the same? But not sure.

I'm trying to figure out what happens if you have a negative points balance when you close :worried: I'm like 90% sure I'm gonna close mine but it hit me a few days ago that I'm sitting in the negative from a refund. Chase doesn't claw it back from your RR account, it just sits negative until you earn more. I have to imagine they have a way to pull it back if I close it, but they don't really have language for what happens to that in the terms on most agreements I'm finding.
